Peaceful and relaxing place to stay.

We stayed in the gatekeepers cottage which was very peaceful and relaxing. Veronique the owner/host is absolutely charming and couldn't do enough to ensure our stay was an absolute pleasure. I would also recommend their Chateau Grand Saint-Marc wine.

Le Grand Saint-Marc was a spectacular surprise. It's difficult to overstate my pleasure at staying here. I was long-distance cycle touring, had suffered a non-trivial accident 50km south, and needed a little comfort and recovery time. My 'attic' room was lovely, with heaps of space, an excellent bathroom, and great fixtures. The entry door is suitably 'heritage' in character, from when ppl on average were even shorter than me. Bump, oops. Tall folk beware. The staircase up to my room is not for folk with mobility problems, although the property does also have ground floor rooms. The room was not air-conditioned, and I did stay during some hot weather, but the many windows and two excellent fans were perfectly adequate. I think breakfasts were probably my highlight. The host - Francois (IIRC) - was lovely and very knowledgeable of the foods and coffees he was providing me. I lingered - forever - over breakfast. The accommodation, and there are several options, is in an heritage stone building within a large walled land holding. There's gardens, trees, and open areas all around.

I got lost finding the property, because the address does not send you to the entry gate on map apps. Afterwards I did find the message clarifying the correct approach ... but I wonder if the Booking(dot)com entry can be tuned so the map-app approach does not lead folk astray.

A unique property providing excellent hospitality and comfort.

We received a warm welcome from Francois and the service was personal and thorough. The accommodation was very comfortable and beautifully decorated. It was great to have tea and coffee making facilities in our room. The breakfast came via room service and it was excellent. Francois was very helpful in suggesting places to eat in the evening and providing directions into Vendome town centre.

Peaceful accommodation set in the beautiful, walled garden of a stately home.

Set in beautiful grounds of a grand house, our private family room with mezzanine floor was quiet, tastefully furnished and comfortable. We woke up to a delicious breakfast served outside on a private terrace next to a small vineyard - what could be better?

Beautiful renovated appartment

Very beautiful and tastefully renovated appartment, in the attick though, low door, and it gets really hot. Good beds, although I had to make my own bed despite the host knowing we needed two separate beds. Huge clean and very lyluxurious bathroom. Nice breakfast. There is a terrace but it is not a really nice place to sit. The price- quality balance is good but the high scores do seem really overrated compared to other bed and breakfasts.

Was amazing 10/10 isn’t good enough.

You are in a large walled garden, the rooms are spacious, you have you’re own area outside for breakfast, the welcome is friendly, we enjoyed our stay so much we asked if we could stay another day. The local town has fabulous restaurants, we’d stay here anytime we were passing through from now on.

Nothing apart from not being able to stay here more often.

Extremely noisy, had to leave after major hassle with rigid and unfriendly host

The description and pictures would let you think the place was quiet. Trucks, motorbikes, buses, stopping and going so close you'd think they're in the cottage with you. Indeed the little cottage I got was in the corner of the park, 5 meters from the noisiest road with no double glazing. The owner ended up refunding the additional nights after major resistance, hassle and procedural behaviour, trying in the process to get me to pay for a much more expensive room, insensitive to my experience and saying "there is no noise at night", yet at 6:30 am, the traffic picked up again and I could not sleep. They then said "nobody ever complained before". When they brought me breakfast the noise from the trucks was so bad we could not hear eachother. I'd stay clear of this place as God knows what surprise you'll find in the other cottages. I expect an unfriendly reply from the owner now, really though people should know what to expect.

Superb

Room was very comfortable, was unable to experience the entire facilities as it was dark when I arrived and had to leave early in the morning. Would have loved to stay longer. Breakfast was very good with fresh bakery items and local jams.

Wasn't able to have breakfast in the main house due to Covid. Disappointing but understandable and not the host's fault of course.

Beautiful, just beautiful and also a wonderful location

Everything, we had a little guest house in a beautiful walled off property with our own little patio area. The host could not have made us feel any more welcome. It was genuinely beautiful.

It took a while to walk into the village, but this is NOT the fault of the property and cannot be used to rate them down.

A great stop off mid way through France.

Breakfast was delivered to our door to comply with covid regulations. Super spread and all very tasty. The room was charming and very quiet. Clean and warm too. The town of Vendôme is really pretty with a good range of restaurants.

Superb end to our holiday in France.

Location was superb, host excellent, breakfast very good - Francoise showed a real commitment to providing an excellent standard of accommodation and service. We loved being able to walk freely around the grounds watching and listening to the wildlife, clearly encouraged by his methods of caring for Le Grand St-Marc. We also appreciated his recommendations on places to visit in the locality, which proved to be excellent choices.
