About this house rental
The Alte Bienenhaus is a lovingly renovated half-timbered house on the grounds of a former farm.
The old half-timbered house, which in days gone by actually housed beehives, was lovingly renovated in 2017–2018.
The result is a 70-square-meter vacation apartment for 2–4 people in a quiet location along the Westerwaldsteig trail.
Here you can hike, bike, relax, or simply unwind.
The Westerwald is a low mountain range that stretches east of the Rhine between Bonn and Koblenz, extending as far as Siegen in the east and the Lahn River in the south. It is a rural, idyllic recreational area.
In addition to the Westerwaldsteig, the Natursteig Sieg, the Rheinsteig in the Siebengebirge, the Wiedwanderweg, and the Westerwaldschleife offer great opportunities for hiking or biking.
The first floor of the old apiary features a spacious kitchen-living room with a dining area and a coat closet. There is a wood-burning stove here that guests are welcome to use. Firewood is provided.
From there, you can step out onto the adjoining west-facing terrace with a rainproof awning, where you can enjoy the sun well into the evening. A grill and patio furniture are provided.
Also on the first floor is a cozy living room with a TV.
The sofa can be folded out into a bed for 2 people.
The large bedroom upstairs is furnished with a double bed and a
pull-out daybed for 1–2 people.
Also on the upper floor is the bathroom with a shower and toilet.
The Old Bee House has central heating. There is also a wood-burning stove for coziness and cool summer evenings.
The Old Bee House is a smoke-free home.
Dogs are welcome. They should get along well with other dogs, as we have two dogs living on the farm.
Unfortunately, cats must stay at home, as some of our regular guests suffer from cat dander allergies.
Accommodating 5–6 people is generally only possible by prior arrangement.

My family and I enjoyed our stay at Ersfeld. The warm atmosphere and friendly hosts made this a special place to spend a few nights between our travels.We found the farmstay a convenient location to drive to Bonn for a day trip, but a relaxing break from the busy city.

Lovely house with a really quiet location which was great for exploring the region. Cologne was an easy train ride away from Hennef station. Some great road cycling routes all around made it well worth another visit in the future.

Auf der Suche nach einer schönen Unterkunft im Grünen, in einer ruhigen Gegend, fern von Allem, aber doch nah am Köln-Bonner Raum bin ich auf das Bienenhaus gestossen. Die Ruhe, das Vogelgezwitscher, das Rauschen der Bäume, den Ausblick ins Grüne haben zusammen mit dem schönen und gut ausgestatteten Haus, der freundlichen Vermieterin die Tage perfekt gemacht. Hier komme ich gerne wieder hin.
