We stayed for one night on our journey from Rotterdam to St Tropez. The whole experience was excellent. The accommodation was clean, comfortable, well equipped with great aircon (we were in a heatwave). All the staff were super helpful and friendly. The highlight was our meal at the in house restaurant. It was excellent! I would highly recommend and definitely stay again.

Extremely weird that after an 8 hour drive and arriving at 17:00 they refuse to serve you a gin and tonic even though they did serve us one the previous 6 times. Not allowed by new management!! Well remove/replace these unfriendly/unprofessional people. You’re at the bar you see the gin, you see the tonic but they won’t give one. They will give you a draft beer, a mocktail or a soft drink but G&T is too much to ask

The lodge was nicely decorated, spacious, and functional. It’s very close to the highway, which makes it convenient for an overnight stop. The bathroom was small but functional.
I must say I was very disappointed by the service and by the unhelpful tone I experienced at reception, which I find unacceptable for a four-star establishment, regardless of the level of stress, how busy the day was, or any staffing issues. I arrived at dinner time and asked for room service, a service that is clearly advertised on the hotel’s website. This was refused due to staffing constraints (the receptionist was alone and could not leave the desk unattended), and no alternative solutions were offered. When I explained that dining in the restaurant with a small child and a large dog could be challenging, I was first told this would not be a problem, only to be informed moments later that the restaurant was fully booked—though I was told the staff “would have made an effort” if I had been unable to arrange anything else. I expect—and usually experience—a far more proactive and service-oriented attitude in establishments of this category. While I understand that not everything is always possible, it is inappropriate to mention “making an effort” to a guest who is simply requesting a service the hotel advertises. Likewise, operational or staffing difficulties should never be highlighted to guests, who should remain unaware of behind-the-scenes issues. A more proactive and considerate approach—such as offering to arrange takeaway, or providing a cold dish from the restaurant for collection at reception—would have been greatly appreciated and could have easily resolved the situation. In short: professionalism was lacking.
