Superbe T2 de 45m² en hyper centre

This apartment was chosen for location in picturesque and historical La Rochelle and as it was self catering (I'm one of those people who buys local produce and enjoys cooking on holidays, especially in France). Decent shower. I was very glad to have a working washing machine in the apartment as I was visiting three French cities in a week, travelling very light (small rucksack only) with just one change of clothes. Plenty of books, including very good local history, Tintin and some other graphic novels, children's books, magazines, mostly French but some English, including 'The Salt Path' by Raynor Wyn which was on my reading list and I enjoyed reading while there. I didn't use the TV. Excellent VERY QUIET location (cars are largely diverted around the old town) 20 minute walk from the train, 2 minute walk to nearest supermarket and baker, 3 minutes to the sea front, 10 minutes to the big fresh food market which is a must. Adequate facilities for cooking food. Lots to see in the old city and beach. Friendly helpful host. I will definitely consider staying here again. PS as far as I could tell, the only direct UK flights here are Easy Jet from Stansted. Coming from the south coast of England, and wanting an adventure, I chose instead to fly Southampton to Paris and then Paris to La Rochelle by train, then home via train from here to Nantes and fly Nantes to Gatwick. That all went smoothly apart from a 6 hour delay on the Air France/.Eastern Airways flight from Southampton to Paris. The SNCF Smartphone app worked perfectly and the 2 trains I took ran perfectly to time.

Nothing significant about the apartment I didn't like, one of the nicest I have ever stayed in and not overpriced for what it was. There was a wooden board for cutting bread but I could not find a meat/fish cutting board and the cooking knives were not very sharp, but this is something I have come to expect everywhere, I think most travellers on holiday just use kitchens to warm things up in the microwave or boil and egg, not to worry, I managed. When travelling by car I always bring my own cook's knives and 'wet' chopping board, but not welcome on airplanes! Beware of dog mess on pavements (they hose down the streets in the early morning!) and also of being hit by high speed bicycles, monocycles and electric scooters if you wander into the cycle lanes.

Très bel appartement fonctionnel, propre, confortable et joliment décoré. Centre ville tout proche du port, des commerces et restaurants. Bon accueil et très bon contact avec les propriétaires à l'arrivée et au départ.

La météo capricieuse du weekend....mais qui ne nous a pas empêché de trouver des occupations intéressantes sur la ville

Location was excellent. Very close to the port but in a quiet section of the street. This is a very comfortable apartment, very clean and very well fitted out. Highly recommended.
