Traditional Irish Cottage that lives up to the imagination - and more!
This cottage is straight from an Irish fairytale. Think the cottage from the movie "The Holiday" starring Kate Winslet, Jack Black and Jude Law, and multiply it by 1000. The views, the hot tub, the pure bliss - then couple that with the fact that this little place was perfectly kept - as if rewinding the clock 300 years. The host delicately places those 21st century essentials to make it accessible, such as plug sockets, an electric kettle, Electric hob, hot running water, even a battery operated lantern. But make no mistake, this is a journey back in time. If you don't like the idea of putting logs on an open fire, or separating yourself from a flat screen TV - this isn't for you. It must be experienced!

Great location
Location was excellent nice and quiet and peaceful, lots of hiking at your doorstep
Had a little water pressure issue at the start, way beyond the hosts control. Got that sorted out and all was good

You won’t want to leave this little piece of paradise!
Absolutely everything! Step back in time in this little cottage, which has been lovingly restored in the most beautiful way, keeping many of the original features of a bygone era. Honestly I feel that whatever I write won’t do it justice. It was a little slice of heaven. We enjoyed the peace, tranquility, nature and absorbing the world around us. The cottage was cosy and clean. The bed was really comfortable and the bath tub was a lovely treat. There was wifi which worked well but we didn’t use it much and no TV meant we properly switched off. The hot tub outside was a definite bonus. Even with the winds blowing around us, the hot tub, nestled in a corner of the garden, was glorious, with drystone walls providing shelter and the trees around us giving the perfect canopy. A perfect place to lie and enjoy the outdoors. The restoration of this cottage is truly phenomenal. 5*’s just doesn’t do it justice!
No complaints at all

A wonderfully special place
Everything was perfect. A wonderfully restored cottage in a beautiful setting. We loved cooking on the Esse and taking in the nature and surroundings from the hot tub. It really is like stepping back in time and we couldn't think of a better place to spend our wedding anniversary. Brilliant location for hiking on the Mournes too. We feel lucky to have been able to spend a few days here, until the next time!

Perfect 2 day retreat
A really great quiet retreat. The pictures are accurate and the place was just really relaxing and made it easy to wind down.
Great views, house is quaint and clean. Hottub and garden swing are great. Night sky views are brilliant and the sunrises and sunsets. Is really just a perfect place to switch off from the world and reset.

Away from the madding crowd
Absolutely loved our weekend at the cottage, away from everything. The views are spectacular. The wood burning stove kept the whole place warm and cosy, and is a dream to cook on. The hot tub was the cherry on top of a perfect stay.
Thanks again to Andy, who's created this perfect little sanctuary frozen in time.
Nothing to dislike.

Cosy, peaceful getaway
The property was absolutely stunning, surrounded by the natural beauty of the Mournes with breath-taking views. The decor was done to a fine art and everything about the cottage is cosy and comfortable. If you're looking for a peaceful and relaxing getaway, there is no better place. Andy, the host was very helpful and was always only a call or text away when needed.
We hope to return some time again in the future.
Just make sure to bring a little extra wood if you want to constantly have the stove and living room fires going like we did.

An amazing cottage with stunning views of the Mournes and surrounding areas.
This is an absolutely beautiful traditional cottage set within stunning views of the Mourne Mountains. The cooking range in the kitchen was amazing and provided incredible heat throughout our stay. The bedroom with stand alone bath was perfect with an abundance of hot water. The living room with traditional fire and hearth was incredible and it was just so relaxing to sit reading in front of the fireplace. The wood fired hot tub in the garden was amazing, especially with the incredible views of the mountains around us. Andy was an exceptional host and was extremely quick to get back to us on the few occasions we had to contact him and was quick to supply us with additional kiln dried wood after our extensive stay in the hot tub. This is truly an amazing place and I cannot speak highly enough of the magical and relaxing experience. This was a perfect location for us to enjoy three days hiking in the Mournes and we cannot wait to return.

Superb
Having breakfast with a gorgeous view. The wood fire stove and the hot tub were excellent, and being out in the quiet of the mountains was incredibly relaxing.
We found we didn't have enough stocked wood for the two nights for the stove, and ended up with a cold breakfast on the day we were leaving.

Beautiful location to escape from the world.
Some more home comforts would have added to the experience. some more Wine glasses etc.

Beautiful but come on man......leave a bit of wood, surely the fee covers it.
The place is absolutely stunning.
Serious lack of wood and not being able to light up the hot tub myself. If you aren't confident in people's ability you should maybe leave a guide, we also had to go and buy our own wood because we couldn't be bothered with having to phone someone when we wanted to light a fire. I think these issues should be stated before booking.

Peaceful and beautiful away from all the hustle and bustle.
I loved the peacefulness of the location and the scenary. I loved the wood fired stove that cooked on. Everything was just perfect, all the little details make this a very special cottage. The whole place has been very well thought out and really is beautiful.
Could not complain about anytjing.

Amazing stat
Andy was a great host, he accommodated our unexpected late arrival without issue. Check in couldn't have been easier and Andy had the place pre-heated which was lovely on a dark Nov evening.
The cottage itself was beautifully and tastefully decorated. We enjoyed the cozy warmth of the open fire in the sitting room and the stove in the kitchen was great to heat the whole house. The bed and bedding was really cozy - the bedroom itself was lovely and the bath was a nice way to relax after a day hiking. The location itself is stunning - definitely get up early to see the sunrise light up the landscape and go out at night to see the stars!
We mostly ate at the cottage however one morning we went to the Hares Bistro for breakfast which is a four min drive from the cottage (and easy when you cant be bothered to cook). In the same direction there is also a couple of car parks which are great starting points for exploring the mountains.
We would definitely return in the future.
Nothing - place was the perfect escape.

Exceptional
An amazing experience which we would highly recommend. Waking up in the morning and getting the stove going to have our morning coffee (there was an electric kettle provided but we decided to make use of the stove) to cooking all our meals on the stove was great! Views were exceptional. Baths fantastic. The place was so cosy!

Wow, this place is the most beautiful place I've stayed in by far, its really a step back in time, a peaceful retreat in the heart of the mountains, the views are spectacular, if you like hiking/walking and being in nature you have to stay at this beautiful place, the cottage is just perfect from the moment you pull upto it every little detail is perfect. Andy was so helpful and got the hot tub set up for us-magical outdoor hottub

A place where time seems to stand still, but actually flies by so quickly...treasured memories
We picked up a few groceries and cooked our meals on the wood stove...no need to go anywhere after that as we had everything we needed right there.
Would have been handy to have more wood on site so we didn't have to bug the host so often. We did all our meals using the wood stove so we went through a lot! Hot tub was amazing but the wooden seats could use a bit of a pressure wash...mind you, you don't notice that at night!

Willie Gallagher, Strabane, tries out Andy’s one block burn suggestion at the foot of the mournes ⛰
I have nothing but praise for this idyllic little cottage at the foot of the Mournes. Every detail was given great thought and executed with perfection. The location is the thing of dreams.
While I may have only praise for the perfect little cottage, the opposite could be bestowed upon the host. The perfect find for my short birthday getaway, destroyed by Andy, the unprepared host.
No fire started or hot tub instruction given (requested at time of booking). Andy would return the following day, after we message him to say we’re ready to get it up and running. And if we could give him a 3-4 hour notice before we wanted him to come over. That would be great.
There was two thirds of a basket of blocks and a fire log. Andy suggested one block at a time was plenty. The blocks had been used by the time the stove was reaching moderate temperature. Around 8/9 pm. We had arrived at 6:30 pm.
We were frozen going out in the pitch black dark to see if there was any wood store or turf stack. The wind was blowing a gale and it was raining razor blades, it was the dark moon that night. So no moonlight 🌑 There was zero fuel to be found, and three trips to buy sticks, blocks, peat briquettes and firefighter’s the following morning, finally got the temperature up. At a cost of £73.64 💷 But the wonderful lady in Killen’s fuel shop in Milltown, was the friendliest most helpful person 🙏
Once we got the fires sorted and the cottage warmed, we discovered there is underfloor heating powered by gas. A switch that Andy had pointed at and mumbled, but didn’t tell us what it was. Willie got it turned on and after about 6-7 hours the stone cold stone floors began defrosting. Much better day and we got the hot tub fired up. The hot tub takes a bit of work and fuel, but a unique experience to have had, sheer bliss.

Exceptional
Everything!! From the moment I stepped through the yellow door I was in a little piece of paradise. Andy our host couldn't have been more helpful. Very accommodating and even set up the hot tub for us to enjoy. The property boasts transporting u back in time and it did exactly that. From the open fire to the wood burning stove and the rustic kitchen I felt I was back in a simpler era. It was very relaxing. Don't get me wrong there is hot running water and plenty of modern day stuff like WIFI etc. The little cottage was very clean and tidy. The bed was comfortable and once we mastered the stove the whole place was warm in no time. The weather wasn't on our side but we chanced the hot tub in the wind and rain. It was perfect. The views have to be seen to be believed with plenty of opportunity to go on lovely walks. Unfortunately the weather stopped us. The weather did however allow us to have one of the most relaxed time in the cottage where we read and played the odd board game. We didn't want to leave and we will certainly be booking again in the near future.
Not a thing.

The location was amazing, the interior of the cottage was unique and beautifully preserved, a privilege to stay in such a place. Having supper in the kitchen with the stove crackling was magical.
