Sweet Orange Pondok

This is a fantastic property in a gorgeous location. It is only a 10 minute walk between rice fields to the Main Street of Ubud but the hotel is so quiet and feels like it is in the country. The property is only accessible by foot or motorbike and so there is no road noise. I stayed in the riverfront room which had a large outdoor undercover seating area just above a small watercourse and surrounded by jungle. The bedroom and bathroom were spacious and clean with excellent air conditioning. Tea and coffee were provided and a small minibar with snacks and drinks was reasonably priced. The breakfast was generous, with a fruit platter and a choice of main (the gado gado was delicious), coffee/teas and fresh juice eaten overlooking the kitchen garden and rice fields. The pool was gorgeous and clean with beautiful views and loungers for comfort. There were two restaurants onsite and many restaurants and shops a few minutes walk in either direction.

The only fault I found was the pillows on the bed were horrendously uncomfortable and needed replacing. That said, I would stay here again.

Very much enjoyed the beautiful setting of Sweet Orange Pondok & the peaceful surrounding. The pool was great & we both enjoyed our massages. The scooter service was fantastic into Ubud too & the guys were very polite.

The Loji room has multiple cracks, is tired and there is mould on the wall. I have allergic rhinitis & so became ill (sneezing, runny nose, skin rash). Mould can easily be washed with bleach or baking soda/vinegar. I let the property know via WhatsApp 10 days ago to hopefully get resolved for future guests but equally they haven’t acknowledged my message. Be careful if you have food allergies. My husband has a cows milk allergy. We had the included breakfast twice & was given milk both times (within a juice, then a smoothie bowl).
