Relaxing, well equipped and enjoyable summer stay over 3 wonderful sunny days made for a very special stay in Salzburg.

Minimalist luxury, clean and sound proof self catering ‘apartment’ with contemporary alpine chalet type style. Great out of town location for a quieter stay. Hotel-style door cards and very good build quality of the guest accommodation gave a very welcoming feel. The owner was very accommodating to our slightly early arrival and the place was spotless.

Not much, set amongst working agricultural fields which was charming meant you had the atmosphere and minor whiffs of the fields but that would only be applicable at certain times of the year.

The quiet setting with unbelievable views made for a great visit to Salzburg. Private car park was a perk.

The apartment was fantastic. Comfortable, spacious, beautiful, clean and well equipped. Underground parking. Quiet setting, walking distance to the airport (no more then 10 minutes) and from there bus/ tram short journey to the centre of Salzburg (line 10) Perfect place. The owner was very helpful and kind.

Everywhere very good equipment. 3 TVs, Miele appliances, electric shades etc. Great beds. Perfect. It also was silent, we could sleep with windows open.

I lovvved it

I loved everything about it. The place is amazing the the apartments are beautifully put together. I loved the hosts they were very sweet and welcoming. The surrounding barn is so nice as we were able to go see the animals just outside. This will always be my go to place in salzburg.

Incomvenient, overpriced & poor hospitality

It was clean, almost new and modern (eg. Electric showers) and quite well self contained (oven, stovetop etc). Surrounds are somewhat nice.

Main issue is staff have no hospitality training of any kind. The place has all the superficial aspects, but lacks a little depth on things which matter. - No aircon or fan of any sort. Summers are getting hotter and hotter ! We called to ask for a fan. Told, no fan and to boot we're lucky as we have the coolest apartment so just open the window, the bugs should be gone by now. A decent fan costs €40. - In the middle of nowhere and they dont prepare you with a small carton of milk or coffee or anything for breakfast. Nor any real self contained instructions for groceries or restaurent. Basic common sense. Milk, coffee & bread costs €5. - No English viewing on tv of any kind - ie. Netflix or basic tv. Normally I wouldnt care but at this price point I do.

The perfect stay in Salzburg

This was my favorite location I've stayed at in a month of traveling. It's quiet and peaceful and extremely clean. The facilities are perfect. The host is very friendly and thoughtful. On Saturdays she opens her store in the lobby and you can purchase local goods. Her bread is excellent. They also have a vending machine that contains pretty much everything one might want in a pinch, such as beer/wine/butter/coffee/pickles/chocolate etc. I can't recommend this place enough. I stayed an extra day just because it felt right. I would stay longer if I could. 10/10

I liked everything about my stay. The only thing that some people might not appreciate is the occasional odors that drift in from the fields/farmland. It's a bonus for me personally. I absolutely love the smell.

Peaceful luxury in a great location

I can't say enough how impressed we were with our stay in Apt #8 at Madl hof! The building is built to an extremely high standard; the owners have spared NO expense. An elevator, underground parking garage, super high quality sliding doors to the balcony, mechanical window blinds, very comfortable seating and beds, high quality sheets, etc. It is actually better than pictured - the pictures of our apartment looked a little bit sparse, but the owner has actually added some additional seating and decor from the time of the pictures. It was just extremely comfortable, meticulously clean (and I'm very picky about that), and we loved having so much room to spread out. Having 2 toilets/sinks was also a nice luxury to help with getting ready in the mornings. Laundry facilities are available in the basement for 3 euros, no need to buy detergent. Location-wise, we were very happy. We wanted to split our time between doing things in Salzburg and in Berchtesgadener Land. It was a very easy drive into Salzburg (or you could park and ride from the airport or outlet mall nearby), and only about 35 minutes or so to Konigssee, Berchtesgaden, etc. We enjoyed seeing Salzburg, but we were so happy not to be staying there and much preferred the peace and quiet of Wals. Madl hof is also VERY close to the airport, but the plane noise is not bothersome whatsoever. It would be a great place to stay before an early morning flight. (Do note that #8 might be the only 2BR apartment that has a sofa and proper living room to relax in at the end of the day, instead of just a dining table with banquette, but you'd have to ask the owner if this is important to you!)

These are extremely minor things to note, and should by no means discourage you from staying there! There is no air conditioning, as is typical for this area, but the owner provided a couple of good fans that helped us stay very comfortable. Sometimes the air would waft in farm smells, but well, such is life near a peaceful farm! I wish the apartment had had a toaster so we could make toast for breakfast. The windows have great blinds and curtains, but there is a triangle-shaped window in both the living room and master bedroom that cannot be covered, so bring eye masks if waking up at sunrise isn't ideal. (The 2nd bedroom is totally dark.) Overall, though, fantastic stay!!

We stayed with our parents and brother's family and had booked 2 apartments. They provided us apartments that were next to each other. The apartments were clean with all required facilities. The location was perfect with beautiful view. The host were warm and welcoming. Our parents loved the apartment and it's location. It made of our vacation perfect. Would definitely recommend others to experience it.
