Bait and switch

The view

This stay was a complete disappointment from start to finish. I booked Vulcano Lake View – but without any prior notice, I was placed in a totally different property, the so-called Panorama Cliff. If this was meant to be an “upgrade”, it certainly didn’t feel like one. The location is isolated to the point of impractical. There is nowhere nearby to get basic supplies. The only “recommendation” I received was a warung run by a relative of the staff. Beyond that, the only conversations were about whether I needed tours or a driver for my return trip — not exactly guest care. The access path is dangerous: steep, unstable, made of dirt, broken concrete and loose stones. Anyone arriving with luggage will quickly realize how unsafe and exhausting this is. Inside, the room was dirty. The included breakfast never existed, and staff were rarely present. Warm water? Also nonexistent. Overall, this was nowhere near what I booked, expected, or paid for. Misleading, poorly maintained, and lacking even the basics. I sincerely hope the management addresses these issues, because in its current state, I cannot recommend this place to anyone.

The location and property given in booking.com is completely different. They made us to stay in a place called villa Dongska. When we asked about it they said management changed. It is not closer to lake to get a lake view. Also if you have plans to Mt Batur through hiking or jeep, plan well ahead. Else the guide in the property may take you for ride.

The aircon doesn't heat and the hot water preasure in the shower was unstable so the temperature was oscillating. Otherwise all was amazing!

Great location with amazing view (it is not in a central town so there is No near shop or something else. But if you like it quiet this is perfect) The hosts are very nice. Clean rooms. Free water, Coffee and Tea. Good and affordable food.

Stayed there for 4 nights in September '22. Absolutely amazing, the owner and her family are great! The place is in a great and quiet spot, near Mount Batur for hiking and with a nice view. The owner is very attentive and nice, the rooms are clean and cozy! They were always attentive, asking if we needed anything... Tea and coffee with biscuits always offered in the afternoon and evening are a plus! Absolutely recommended!

Beautiful view, helpful staff

The staff especially Archana was very nice and helpful. Our bike had broken down 10km before the place. He came and picked us up in his car. Mowgli( aka Nouyman) helped us book the batur trek( ok experience) And They arranged a bonfire everyday at our time there

Pleasant stay

It was a pleasant stay at the homestay. The bed was comfortable, the food was nice and the view was awesome. The homestay is perfectly suited for people who want to go on top of Mount Batur. They will help you to book a tour for an affordable price.

Magic location but come prepared for the cold

Lovely cottages set in a sweet garden with view on the lake, located right next to Mt Batur high up in the mountains. Beautiful nature all around. Rooms are of a reasonable size with a very comfortable bed & pillows. Nice patio in front to sit for breakfast or coffee and admire the view. Bathroom is clean, great water pressure & plenty of hot water. The owners are very kind and always ready to help. Arcana works in the cruise industry so he speaks fluent English. Their baby son Putu is the sunshine of the place. It's a great departure point to hike Mt Batur or the hill across the accommodations for those who prefer easier climbs. An ideal accommodation for a couple of days, the whole region is magnificent. Not recommended for a longer stay. Meals can be enjoyed in the garden or at their small restaurants

The weather is quite cool during the day and cold at night so come prepared. The rooms have no heating (A/C on heat) instead they have 'natural open designs' high up in the walls that allows the cold air in. The floors are beautifully tiled but freezing. The bathroom has an open space between the walls & the roof, not ideal to keep warm during the shower. The bathroom offers very limited space for toiletries. 2 hangers is all you get in the closet. Towels are thin and remain humid during the day. The food is very basic, hot meals are brought from the village and are mostly lukewarm when they arrive. And then there are the hundreds of flies that make it impossible to eat outside decently, they are everywhere and cover everything in the open kitchen too where breakfast is prepared. The kitchen should be closed off to guarantee hygiene around the food.

Just one time experience

The view, the staff

Location, the flies, the food. We had lunch and dinner at the villa, cause there is no restaurant nearby and far away from the central. The food just ok and over priced take 1 hour or so until the food ready. We ordered butter chicken but what we get is chicken fried with sambal and rice and they say that is butter chicken.

Fantastic stay!

The views from Volcano Lake View across Lake Batur and Mt Batur are incredible which you can enjoy sitting in their lovely well maintained garden and seating area. The hosts were extremely friendly and really made you feel welcome the minute you arrive until you leave. They serve food which was really good and also help organise hiking tours directly from the property. The bed was one of the comfiest we have slept in, it was a shame we only had one night and had to get up at 3:15am for a hike otherwise I think we would have slept forever in that bed. Definitely recommend staying here!

The road to the property is quite rocky which was quite difficult for us on a motorbike but the hosts, view and overall stay there was totally worth it.

Best experience to mount batur sunrise exploration

Such an amazing place to unwind. You can see Mt Batur and Lake Batur from the villas! The rooms are very nice and clean with fantastic hot showers, the food is fresh and delicious, and the hosts were our favorite in all of Bali. The are very happy to share their customs with us, helpful with shuttles, guided trips, truly fantastic! They booked a guided sunset hike up mt Batur and we hiked from our villa, across some farms, and up to the peak for sunset!!! Amazing! Saw more Monkeys on the hike than people! They took us to the local hot springs by the lake, which I highly recommend. We didn't want to leave :)

MOWGLY helped us out to find a guide who walked us up to the Volcano to experience unforgettable Sunrise. Next time on Bali- definitely Volcano Lake View !! There's nothing we didn't like

The view definitely the best thing after the tense drive. Room is enough for a bed, not much space but with the view in front of you, you will not stay in the room. You just sit in the outside and admire the view. It will getting colder in the night. I had chats with Kadek and we always order food without any problem. During our stay, the grill fish was not available, but the fried chicken really delicious. We stay for one night only, but we order the fried chicken twice. Thank you Kadek for the service ☺️

The road is really tricky. It is small and steep so if you are driving, you need to be extra careful. The location is in the end of the road after you pass all the houses near there. There are flies also but not as much as we ever experience in other place around that area.

We had a wonderful stay at Volcano Lake. Nyoman was very kind and welcomed us like we were his old friends. He also helped us a lot with organisation of cool tour to Mount Batur. Thank you very much, Nyoman. Highly recommend this place if you plan to explore North of Bali and go to Batur there. And the property is situated in an old crater itself, how cool is that?!!!!!

Little Gem in Kintamani / Great Value!

Beautiful views over the lake & surrounding hills. Quiet & out of town. Staff were very helpful. Rooms were clean & comfortable and tea & coffee facilities were also available in the room. Meals were available on sight (full menu). The prices were very good. We were able to book a trip through the Homestay which we had to cancel due to inclement weather, but will be back! Great value for money.
