Lovely place!

I had almost zero expectations. We mainly booked it for few hours, because we had to wake up early for the mountain trek. But this place and the staff exceeded way way way more our expecations. All are very kind and friendly.

Comfortable stay with great views and close proximity to Mt Batur.

The property is located at the foot of Mt Batur and was a short walk to get to the hiking trail. The accommodation is very clean and comfortable and the owner even drove us to a warung for dinner and to the hot springs after our hike. Beautiful gardens to relax in.

The only challenge is that there are many flies in the area, due to it being a farming area.

I do not recommend it without your own car

Snails and flies, that's how you could describe this overnight stay. The bathroom was filled with snails, and there was no protection against them. There was no flyscreen, and there was no air conditioning, so it was unbearable to stay there without opening the door because there was no window. Without your own transport, do not stay there overnight; it's a long way to the shop selling sweets and drinks. Down by the lake, there's a price collusion, and the Grab and Gojek apps don't work. The ride up to the top costs 250,000-400,000 for a 5-kilometer ride. The owners are friendly as long as they can make money. In the evening, we were told the price so we wouldn't have to look for a driver any further, but in the morning, the ride was higher. We were also told with a smile that the apps didn't work here. After using the ride at the triple price, the lady waited for us and again, smiling, informed us that it would be difficult to find a driver, but she could take us further. You can't leave the house without asking where you're going. They're constantly pushing attractions or restaurant recommendations. The WiFi constantly didn't work, and a page appeared asking if you needed to buy more GB. I had to pay attention to it every day because the problem persisted.

Easy access ro Batur Volcano and Batur lake. Nice picturesque design. The staff was very nice and helpful 👍 the bed has a mosquito net.

The bathroom is extremely damp, so much that there were lots of snails walking all over the walls and eating the toilet paper. The room is not fully closed allowing for a wind to flow which can make the room quite cold at night. There is no hair dryer so washing your hair at night with the cold is not a good idea.

Best Place for Batur Hiking

It’s really good place to hike Batur. Wayan was very kind. She rode me to the restaurant for take-out dinner, and introduced us Nokia for hiking, and it was great. You can see stars very clearly in the hotel, which is unforgettable.

It was difficult to get Gojek or Grab to leave there, so that we used local taxi which is way expansive than Gojek.

Excellent experience staying Bintang House

Excellent hospitality. Owner Wayan and her daughter Bulan and his Son tried best to give maximum service to us. We are impressed. Mount Batur Sunrise and Black Lava destination are nearby. Also she arranged for us to pick up and drop in lunch time and dinner time. She and her family have carried our luggage. Excellent hospitality

Only for us being seniors and knee problems difficult to go up and coming down. Otherwise it is really good 👍

Wonderful location very close to Mount Batur. The owner is a very kind and helpful lady who waited for us till late in the night as we were driving from Padma beach. She offered us jackets for the morning trek and can also essentially book you a jeep if you have not already done so.

A gem - comfortable, great value and would happily return.

It felt like luxury at a budget price in a beautiful setting, gorgeous gardens, walking to Mt Batur and quiet, rural. Enjoy the views, great hot showers, good breakfasts, comfortable beds and friendly owners and staff. It’s also easy to get to town and Wien, the owner, is happy to help, introducing one great restaurant 15 minutes walk away. Recommended.

I don't like to comment badly on my own hotel where I've been. I have to rate this hotel. Never go here!! Advice

We booked a hotel for 2 days (2 nights). The night was really a nightmare. Slugs came out of the toilet and shower in the evening. There were a lot of them - several hundred on the walls, toilet lid, sink, floor. Well. A rat came to visit us at night. It started throwing things off the closet. We managed to drive it out with a towel. In the morning we went hiking in the mountains. After the hike, my wife and children refused to return to the rooms. During the day, countless flies gathered. There were millions of them. I told the staff about the hotel's problems. They replied that they knew about them. They said that they couldn't refund the money because the booking was made through Booking. I asked them to compensate for the price of that 1 day by taking me to another hotel for free. The price would be half the price of 1 day. They refused.

Great views, amazing location and host :)

I wanted to hike up to Mount Batur, which is why I chose to stay at Bintang house. It is perfectly located with great views of the lake and the mountains, woods all around. My host Seruni, was amazing! She helped me with organising the hike. I got an amazing guide and because of where I was located, I was able to do the long hike and walk not just to the top to see the sunrise, but the guide also took us around the crater and the other side. Serene is amazing, very kind and helpful. When I had to leave, I could not find a grab and she helped to organise a drop off for me. Absolute trooper, with a heart of gold! (She even gave me a recommendation for a tattoo place in Ubud and they were awesome :P) Thank you so much Seruni!! Suk Sema! :)

A perfect place to stay before a sunrise trek to Mount Batur.

Great location right by Mount Batur. We had a sunrise trek arranged directly from the hotel, which was really convenient. The private bungalow was beautiful, offering peace and comfort. The owner is incredibly kind and will arrange transportation anywhere without any charge. I also want to highlight the young staff member—he was very helpful, and I absolutely loved his breakfasts!

The only thing I would have appreciated is more cleaning. Even though we stayed only two nights, there are a lot of insects in this area, and after just one night, their dead bodies were everywhere. And the flies? There are really a lot of them (sitting outside is nearly impossible), but that’s not the fault of the accommodation—it's just the general situation in Kintamani.

Breakfast was really good! Room was beautiful, just needed to keep the doors open for ventilation. Saw a garden snake in the shower which was pretty cool/terrifying. Perfect place to stay for mount batur hike. Walked into town as well and had lunch by the lake which was beautiful

Very friendly Staff If we needed anything they were really quick to answer and help provide information. Breakfast was really good Scooter hire very easy Taxi service from Denpasar airport to the Bintang House Perfect location to start the trekking at Mount Batur . We did the long hike which started at 0320am which was a private hike . I definitely recommend doing that one you get alot more time before all the groups start hiking . Bintang House also organised this .

we arrived at night and there is no reception, we struggled to get someone to help us. better to get phone number in advance. once we found personnel, they were really nice and fixed everything for us. Doesn’t look perfectly cleaned but no insects or anything in the main room so slept really well.

Quiet location, in between farms. 2km or less walk to hot springs / supermarket / atm with a few warungs on the way. Wayan was very friendly & helpful. She organised taxis, trek up Mt Batur, motorbike hire and laundry, and dropped us at the Hot Springs a couple of times. Breakfast was very nice and brought to our cabin with smiling faces.

The accommodation was beautiful, and the outlook over the gardens was lovely. The bathroom was outside but very tastefully done - very unique. Our bed was very comfy

Our host didn't talk much Our host organised a guide for my daughter to climb Mt Batur. She was 10 minutes late to take her to the drop-off area. There was no guide waiting, and after waiting for a while, the host just left and left my daughter standing there to sort it out herself. This was very stressful for my daughter, and luckily, a kind guide invited her to go up with his group. This was extremely poor!!!!

Our enjoyed the stay together with a nice scenery

It was nice cozy bungalow with nice shower and hot water, which is not really often can be found. Nice yard in front of the houses where kids can run/play. Cold, but owner brings additional blankets if you ask. Consider to pick food in the way, not many restaurants will you meet in kintamani if it’s not the main street .

The room was good as described. Bed was comfortable and loved the coffee here. We picked this stay as it was the closest to start for Mount Batur sun rise trek or jeep tour. They offered us wake up service and when we were about to leave, we were given jackets as we did not carry any (did not know that it could get very chilly on the top), appreciate their action to improve our experience. Breakfast was good, liked the mixed fruit juice.

The room could have better insulation, there was a couple staying adjacent to our room and the lady was on phone for about 1.5 hours outside her room from 12:30 AM to 2:00 AM, we hardly slept.

A Disappointing Stay at a Dirty Hotel with Dishonest Practices

The bad size

I don't often leave negative reviews, but my experience at this hotel was so abysmal that I felt compelled to warn other travelers. I've been to many places, and this was by far one of the worst experiences I've ever had. To begin with, the cleanliness of the room was appalling. We found a dead gecko being eaten by ants near the exit door, which remained there for the entire four days of our stay. There was no soap provided, and a large spider occupied the bathroom. Despite our neighbors' request to have removed their spider (we did not ask about ours),, the owner never addressed the issue. The hotel is located in an area swarming with flies, and there is garbage strewn everywhere. Especially around the lake. Locals seem desperate to extract money from tourists, staring at you as though you're a walking ATM. It's quite uncomfortable. We had initially hoped to visit the hot springs. She (the owner) offered to drive us there, but brought us to an overpriced spring that cost 300k per person. After some negotiation, she took 4 of us to an 80k option and then stayed for a commission from the place (without disclosing it upfront). This deceitful behavior really killed our mood. We believed this is the common practice of Batur to get a commission from a place if you bring someone. I am not against, but would like to know it upfront. To make matters worse, when we rented a motorbike, the owner charged us 150k, while our neighbors paid only 100k to her the other day. I'm not interested in haggling; I just want to pay a fair price without feeling cheated. So we took the motorbike, even put petrol as it wasn't much left after another couple. So in total it cost us 200k. But the regular price is about 80k About the mountain climbing - Even the mountain excursion was fraught with aggressive sales tactics and harassment. Guides push for tips, and vendors at the top of the mountain relentlessly try to sell you items or tea.
