Very good location and beautiful apartment

Great central location. Light and spacious. Overall stylish appearance. Quick check in on short notice booking. But.....

After staying in multiple accommodations in Sicily we felt this one was lacking in some basics that are fairly unacceptable overall. Cash payment was required which wasn't stated in the booking or on other booking sites they advertise on. No receipt was given. There is no free parking space nearby despite advertising on multiple booking sites that there was. The host advised us to use the EasyPark App to park and pay daily for the train station carpark. There is no supermarket nearby for food supplies to use the kitchen and you can't park or drive to the apartment, so if you're planning on staying more than a night or two self catering it'll be a major issue getting groceries in, so I'd only use this place as a base as there's plenty of restaurants around. The main issue however was the shower door, it is dangerous. We informed the host after I was stuck inside when the door came off falling into the shower cubicle. This is a heavy sliding glass door. Luckily my partner is strong and a bathroom installer, so could quickly get it back attached and we avoided a catastrophe. We informed the host but he seemed unfazed and unconcerned which was very disappointing. My partner showed him in person and explained the issues but we felt nothing would be changed and really hope no one gets hurt in the future as he is aware and therefore liable should injury occur. Others gripes.... Entry: No light in porch area. Very slippery tiles when wet. Kitchen: Condiments were stale. Dish cloths were crusty and stale. No tea towel or hand towels. Bathroom: Shower as explained above. Hot water ran out before 2 full showers could be had. Rusty shower head and fittings. Unclean tap. No extra loo roll. Bedroom: No mirror despite huge expanses of empty walls. No wardrobe or drawers!!!! Useless pillows - we found extra under the bed. Pointless massive Jaquzzi - when there's not enough hot water for 2 showers or anywhere to keep your clothes!
