RIP OFFF

The holiday park staff were very helpful but had no information about the owner who did not send any information as to how to access the property. A ridiculous situation.

1. There was no information from the owner so we could not access the property. Fortunately a back door had been left open. 2. There was no communication from the owner, calls went to Sykes Cottages who did not pick up. 3. The accommodation was filthy, no toiletries. 4. The washing machine made our clothes smell. 5. The place was full of spiders and cobwebs. 6. The same property, if rented from the holiday park, costs £179 for 3 nights. We were charged £733, price gouging at its worst. We feel totally cheated and are complaining to the Cornish authorities. DO NOT RENT THIS PROPERTY IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO BE RIPPED OFF

The lodge was spacious

There was no hot tub, despite it saying there was in the description. The lodge was dirty when we arrived and we had to clean it before we felt comfortable. Despite contact Sykes through your portal to complain twice, we never received a response. Definitely not value for money.

Cobwebs at the front door and windows wasn’t appreciated. There was also a full ash tray at the back sliding door. The drain in the lawn is also a risk.

No smart TV in the living room, very poor internet. One of the twin bedrooms should have been a double. Dirty utensils in the kitchen. Drains backed up so had sewage coming up in the sink and bath tub. Poor maintenance of the property. Holes in the brickwork of the building, heard scratching behind the walls at night.

The lodge was amazing and so cosy it had everything you need for a holiday,the bed was comfy We loved the location.the lodge was so nice we loved it.thankyou for letting us stay their we would love to come again next year.we loved all the amenities.had everything.sofas were comfy to.and the view from our lodge was lovly.also it's great the car is near the lodge helpful when you have luggage.was lovly coming in from being out all day and getting in the hot tub was so relaxing. Also was great having ensuite.having awashing machine was great to.we did.nt want to leave it was so nice,managed to do all our washing was upset we were only their for 2 days.wish we had booked longer.but next time we will stay longer,

Super stay with few minor issues.

Spacious living and bedrooms, clean and comfortable, private, countryside views, great location for exploring Cornwall. 3 x hot powerful showers, good Bluetooth stereo, dishwasher, bbq and plenty of pots and pans!

Outside needed some proper TLC - ( inexpensive attention) Patio was over grown with weeds, windows dirty on the outside and window seals covered with bird muck…We sorted this ourselves ( took 1 hour) Locks and keys were fiddly on both doors and could do with being changed, hazardous!

Good but could be better

Nice sized lodge with good amenities (i.e. power showers, dishwasher etc). We have stayed at waterside in the past and had a better experience in a different lodge. We felt the cleanliness wasn't great (stains on towels and floors) the lodge needs a refurb sooner rather than later (and a deep clean)... Didn't hit the "home from home" feel we hoped it would.. could be a lot better.

Good location. Has everything you need for your stay

On arrival which stated 15.00pm. We arrived at around 15.00pm on the 18/04/22 and the lodge had not been cleaned from the previous people that stayed. We arrived on bank hoilday monday! We accessed the property to find everything all messy,a broken glass left,which my young daughter touched and no cleaning that had been done! We went to the main reception and said about 64 waterside,they said it wasn't anything to to with them as the property is rented out via another company. Reception kindly gave us the number of the owner of the lodge. Called the owner who said they will send someone to clean the lodge. We waited over an hour for someone to arrive! The company said check in wasn't untill 17.00pm. Even if it was 17.00pm,no one arrived until 16.30pm to clean the lodge. An elderly couple turned up to clean the lodge,felt so sorry for them. They did a good job,but felt like they had to rush which wasn't fair on them. They were very kind and apologised for this and left a few snacks and a bottle of wine for us. The company apparently had no knowledge of our stay,we even called a week before we travelled to confirm the booking and they even confirmed our stay and even gave us a code for the key box to access the property. Key box is located at the back of the property. This was Poor communication and hopefully this doesn't happen to anyone else when they stay in the future! Also it is very quite, but there was some sort of animal running about in the loft,it sounded like it was in the property at one point and running up the walls. It was so loud,thought it was a squirrel at one point in the property,I know this can't be helped and every hole blocked,but it needs to be looked at by the owner. Overall after a bad experience on the first day. The lodge is lovely,well equipped no shops really near-by but ,about a 10-15 minute drive to the nearest Asda and Lidl's

Had an amazing time

The lodge was beautiful, comfy and very relaxing. It was lovely and quiet and it was nice to look out on the fields at the back, so no one overlooking us. It was a great place to relax and explore Cornwall.

It was difficult to find the lock box as we were told it was at the back of the property. We arrived in the dark and couldn’t find the box until we had walked all round the property. We had trouble with the heating going off but it was quickly fixed the next day.

Accommodation was great on the whole, had most of the things we needed for our stay, nicely detached with plenty of space between others on site, great views from our place, quite peaceful and easy to reach places of interest by car. Escape room on site was fun.

When I booked via booking.com it advertised a number of things which weren’t actually available, which was disappointing and misleading, I feel I booked partly due to some of these facilities- swimming pool, hot tub, wellness centre and restaurant, all of which were closed! It also said there was toilet roll, and there was only a few sheets, so we needed to go out to get some shortly after our arrival! Booking.com said depart at 10am but accommodation info said 9am. Although accommodation was clean and tidy, more attention required as windows all needed cleaning and toilet brushes pretty grim! Otherwise lovely place to stay
