A peaceful retreat close to the vibrant heart of a wonderful city

The apartment was spotlessly clean, well-equipped, stylish and very comfortable. The location, whilst within easy walking distance of central Ghent was quiet and peaceful. There are many excellent restaurants,cafes and bars nearby and close access to fascinating riverside walks to enjoy Ghent’s history and architecture. The apartment is so conveniently located that we were able to visit an attraction, return for a rest and walk to another later in the day. Ellen was an extremely responsive and helpful host. We followed several of her recommendations for restaurants and all were very good (we also really enjoyed ‘Anders’, a Vietnamese restaurant, which is very near).

Comfortable central apartment with great host

A great apartment in an excellent location close to the centre of Ghent, but, for us, nice and quiet. Bed very comfortable, all well equipped, good sized shower and bathroom. Car parking under building very good. Ellen has prepared excellent instructions for arrival, keys etc, plus other useful information. Good supermarket around corner and chemist nearby (for anti mosquito goods!!). Overall, we were very happy with our stay.

There was nothing we did not like, hence high score. Some hopefully constructive thoughts are: as per some others, we did find the pillows too large/firm, so some options would be good. Also would be good to have either mosquito screens on the windows to allow some breeze through or air conditioning for the hot nights, not that anyone was expecting circa 30 degrees that did occur - global warming?!!

Fabulous apartment close to the city centre

Very good location, close to the city centre.

We were woken several times on Saturday night by drunks, singing, shouting and smashing glass in the street outside. But we slept well on Sunday night and there were overall far more positives so our overall opinion of the property is very positive.

Clean, comfortable, modern, very well equipped, central apartment in the heart of Ghent.. With a very very kind and understanding host.. Ellen is very interested in her guests..She gave us all the informations very clearly.. Me and my family ( my wife and 6 years old daughter ) we were more than happy to stay in this apartment..

The apartment was impeccable, it had everything needed to be comfortable and the location was fantastic. We have stayed in many places and I have to say this place was 10 out of 10. The host, Ellen was very responsive from the time we did the booking until the last moment. Highly recommended!

Great stay in lovely apartment

Good quiet but central location, 10 minutes walk to centre of town. Very secure property. Good size apartment, very clean and comfortable and all necessary amenities provided. Very nicely decorated. Situated 15 min walk from the train station (Gent Dampoort not Gent St Pieters - Dampoort is much closer to the centre of Gent than St Pieters, which is on the edge of town). Lots of English-speaking TV channels. Nice balcony. Close to supermarket.

Loved Gent and Would Stay at Salt & Pepper Again!

This is a full on apartment. It was super clean and had everything we needed for a family stay. The location in Gent was super convenient and easy to walk to everything we wanted to see and do. Also close to transportation, a grocery store, and restaurants. It worked out great for our family of four and made us feel like locals.

Not the fault of our host, but the only "major" thing was that the weather was on the warm side while we were there and we opened the windows to get some air inside but got mosquitos that bit us in the night time. I wish there were screens to keep the mosquitos out or fans to help the inside cool when the weather is warm.

A wonderful oasis of calm in a bustling historic city.

Beautifully laid out. Light and airy. Comfortable bed & furnishings. Plenty of towels, toilet rolls and cleaning materials. Fully equipped for self catering. Well insulated, warm when it was cool outside and cool when hot outside. Ten minutes walk from the central attractions yet peaceful location away from the crowds.

Good location, 10 minute walk into the centre. Located on a quiet street. Comfortable beds. Nice and warm. Balcony would have been great on a summers day. Secure. Easy enough to find your way in once the entry info has been shared. Easy communication.

Fabulous apartment close to attractions. Easy to get to by tram from Sint Pieters Station otherwise about 40 minutes walk. Quiet neighbourhood. Great kitchen facilities and nearby supermarket.

No trams run early in morning (4am) to catch early train. Taxi not reliable but luckily we hailed one nearby. Nothing about the apartment was bad.

A great option to a hotel in Gent.

The location and style of the apartment were excellent. The apartment is comfortable, very clean and spacious, with nice appointments (eg. crockery, cutlery, bedding, etc). We would stay again in a flash if returning to Gent. Ellen sends good information to assist with getting in to the apartment and what to do in the area. Highly recommended.

It is a very quiet, clean, spacious and relaxing place to stay away from the noise and bustle of central Ghent.

It is a large and spotlessly clean apartment. It was very comfortable. The shower worked very well.

At first I kept getting lost trying to find my way back to it. That’s my fault of course. It’s in a quiet residential neighborhood so you have to walk a ways to find cafes or restaurants.
