Disappointing week long stay given the potential by the size location of the property

Difficult review this one. Found ourselves in need of quality accommodation for one week at short notice. Great location and on paper just the ticket. Problematic however, and didn’t live up to expectations or price. Should have been guided by previous reviews highlighting shortcomings, but few self-catering alternatives for us to consider in the area. On the plus side great suburban location near to town centre and Victoria Park. A period property with large space standards.

We originally booked into the basement one bedroom flat. On arrival there was no way of switching on the heating and had to call out the landlord to resolve. Unable to sleep due to all pervading smell of bad drains. Large damp patches in bathroom. No drawers in bedroom and only one bedside table amongst lesser gripes (all as highlighted by several previous guests reviews). Situation so bad we anticipated relocating. Thankfully the owner was able to release to us a larger flat elsewhere in the house for the remainder of the week and for which we were grateful. That said, having to then set on and defrost the fridge freezer in order to get it to work, and a pile of dirty linen left in the washing machine, which seemed to have been there some time, reinforced our poor experience overall.

location and access were excellent

Jobby in the toilet . Had to clean the WC on arrival . Property had not been aired. The sinks , taps not run to remove grey water odour . Good idea wound be to air the property and run all taps in the sinks before new customers arrive.

Good location, easily accessible, sizeable apartment with everything you'd need in. Very close to flower show (reason of visit) and a short walk from the centre.

There is a smelly drain in the bathroom, which is rather off-putting. Unsure on where it came from, could be a result of being under the occupants above but is very unpleasant Also a major issue which needs addressing is one of the windows in the bedroom area does not lock and can be pulled open from the other side.

Great base for competing in a triathlon.

It was really spacious, very clean and had a sunny garden you could sit in. We could stay until 1pm so I could have a shower after my triathlon.

The bathroom smelt a little bit when we arrived. It was a bit further from the Marine Lake than we would like.

Good location. Good sized rooms. Quiet and felt very safe. Responsive and helpful host.

To make the apartment even better, softer towels would be great. The use of a hair dryer would also be appreciated.

The apartment was fabulous. Very spacious, clean and cosy. The location was great, we had some lovely walks into the centre of Southport and to the beach. Many Thanks to Giles, we really enjoyed our stay. Nicola ( Jennifer is my Mum's name)

Cody my labrador and I had a lovely impromtu stay. I wish we could have stayed longer.

Location is very quiet and close to lovely natures blessings. Privacy and spaciousness of the property. Access to the town centre and railway station. Environment very safe. Landlord avaiable for advice and responded to my requests favourably.

Super apartment with excellent facilities

The whole property is amazing, French doors in living room leading to small paved area is a bonus. Giles the host is very friendly and helpful. I will definitely be staying here again in the future.

Weekend break

We booked the East Lodge for a weekend break with our two small dogs, not only was the location perfect to bring the dogs along, but the garden connected to the property made it even more suitable. The gated courtyard to park made us feel super comfortable and safe, and Giles was just on the other end of the phone for any queries we had. The lodge was extremely clean and cosy, lovely decor and plenty of facilities for cooking. We were shocked to find an absolutely incredible desk fan in the lounge, perfect for warm nights…so good in fact that we’ve actually come home and bought the same one! Thank you so much for a lovely weekend.

I would recommend the apartment to anybody looking to get away for a nice relaxing break.

Location was great. Leafy suburb feel to it. Very quiet area, relaxing but not to far from urban life. The apartment was spacious and light and layed out very well.

If I was being ultra critical it would just be a lack of milk and coffee on arrival and possibly the provision of cooking oil as we were only there of a couple of days. Maybe they could have provided a small bottle of milk, a few coffee sachets and a small bottle of oil to get us through. Lots of green space within a 5 min walk.

Comfortable apartment close to beach,(at high tide lol)

Well equipped, we needed tea towel, hand towel and bath mat which were provided when asked. Access to lovely gardens that would have benefitted from some garden furniture

Would liked to have stayed again

I didn't want to stay in Southport as I'd stayed the week before and really didn't enjoy the area but it was close to work. This absolute gem of a place was perfect and completely made me feel at ease. It's away from the main stretch and the off street parking with electric gate is a very nice touch. If you really wanted to go to the main part of Southport then it's still walking distance. Giles was great, I didn't see him but recieved messages, just incase this gets misinterpreted; I didn't require seeing him, everything was felt and smelt very clean which in the current climate is very reassuring. I really enjoyed my stay and I was sad to find out it was booked up the following weeks as myself and another are still working locally. My friend who was also sad after showing him "what he could have had" rather than the other places dotted around Southport for a similar price. Cannot recommend enough.
