Friendly, comfortable and excellent value for money

Considering its relatively low price we were really pleasantly surprised. Such friendly, helpful staff and an excellent cooked-to-order breakfast. Really good location and a great night’s sleep. If you want somewhere in walking distance to the centre that offers a clean, comfortable stay, we absolutely recommend this hotel. We will definitely stay again as it is excellent value for money.

The place was nice and well worth the money for value.

Only criticism I have is breakfast service wasn’t great to be honest maybe short staffed, I don’t know but the breakfast it’s self was nice.

Excellent value for money in a friendly hotel

The staff were all lovely - very friendly. The room had everything necessary, though the bathroom was very small. I appreciated the tea tray with biscuits, fluffy towels, comfortable bed, and tv. The breakfast was very nice.

The bathroom tap was wobbly and in need of replacing - though there was plenty of hot water. Some parts of the hotel needed a coat of paint, and some furniture was rather worn.

Nice older building worked into a good bed and breakfast hotel, great staff and location

Location and car parking included are the obvious ones. The breakfast is good with very friendly staff who cook it as you order The rooms are much larger than is typical, a bonus n a warm summer day I've stayed here several times a year since it opened and it was getting tatty but they've reworked it nicely and it's well worth the money.... Good pub over the road if you need to eat or dink in the evening

Clean environment and seemed well organised. Large clean room but small double bed. We are both rall, so bed was aquashed and I did not sleep well.

Although we were leaving early at 4.30am some easy breakfast which we had paid for, would have been welcome as we had a long journey abroad that day. .

Would stay here again

Hotel was a £10 uber ride to centre. For us it was a one night stay - warm and comfortable. Breakfast was nice and it was surprisingly quiet during the night. Nice little pub across the road 'The old spring' also does greek food. Loads of parking and card access after hours. Breakfast room was bright and nice and staff were accommodating. Would definitely stay here again. Thankyou.

Charming small hotel in Cambridge near Uni, offering nostalgic experience of England.

Charming, spacious triple room. Beautiful stained glass windows. Old school English decor which is a breathe of fresh air in a world of chain hotels. Good heating. Friendly staff. Excellent full English breakfast. Location was near Cam River and university.

No shower attachment in bathtub. Did have a pitcher though.

The location and car park was very good. There was a good selection of breakfast with many choices. The staff were very helpful and friendly.

The size of the bathroom was a little cramped especially if you are a big person. My husband is over 6 foot and found it very restricting without hitting either the sink, doors, shower.

Second time staying at this hotel. Hotel is close to city centre with parking.

Breakfast staff were fantastic. Hotel cleaners were also fantastic Great breakfast, clean hotel. Close to the city centre.

The chap on the reception desk needs training on how to greet guests! Made us wait for checkin while he chatted to other staff. Told us to wait as they weren’t ready despite giving that checkin time. Disappointing as he was very abrupt and unfriendly which wasn’t our experience of this hotel the first time we stayed there.

Comfortable and good breakfast with friendly staff.

Nice room. Some dated furniture and fittings but not grubby. Towel OK. Tea and coffee good. Good spacious free car park. Able to leave car there early and after check out for a walk into centre. 15-20 mins nice walk part along river and through park.

En-suite quite small just shower. Shower bit mouldy and hard to turn on/off.

Good value stay in a great location for accessing central cambridge.

The Ashley is in a very good location and has free car parking on site. The rooms are spacious and the beds are comfortable. The front rooms face onto Chesterton road which can be busy from about 7am, so I would advise requesting a back facing room for a quieter space. The furnishings are a bit old and tired but not enough to impact on your stay. I've stayed here twice so was happy to return. The breakfast is good and the staff are helpful and friendly.

The front facing rooms can be affected by traffic noise in the morning.

Value for money, great location, comfortable stay.

The location was amazing and it was very reasonably priced, especially considering the location and parking provision. The bed was really comfortable. Our room was in a quiet location (at the top, at the back) so we slept well. The staff we met were really helpful and friendly. Breakfast was great. We couldn't stay for the Full English but really appreciated being given gf options and a wide range of things to eat and drink.

The decor is a bit dated/faded - and musty smelling in the hallways - and some people would struggle to get their bags up to the top floor, though it wasn't a problem for us and we appreciated the exercise.

The location was perfect for us. Closeness to the city centre was fine. Beds were comfortable. The staff were very helpful.

Think that the bedrooms could do with updating in terms of decor. Would prefer a walk-in shower to a bath. The heating didn’t need to be on so high.

Enjoyable and interesting

Our room was comfortable if a little dated, the cooked breakfast was very good and the service was excellent, the staff were so friendly and helpful. The location of this hotel is excellent for accessing Cambridge City Centre and all the colleges and attractions are within easy walking distance

We understand that the hotel is going to undergo building works and renovations, and this is much needed as the rooms are tired and dated and the windows are the original wooden sash windows and were a bit draughty, luckily the weather wasn't too bad during our stay

I had some of the best sleep. Super dark room, lovely comfy bed and really lovely staff and breakfast. Great to have the car park and it’s a beautiful walk over the canal to the uni and town

Breakfast good despite few options such as fruit Cleanliness was fine, bed linen nice but bed too soft for us. Plenty of car park space.

Our room . Only accessible by many flights of stairs and at top of building. Small room with tiny en-suit. Windows single glazed leading to early morning condensation, Heating did not work. Fire escape through a window onto a small spiral staircase to ground. Property itself needs refurbishment.

Overpriced stay

Staff were lovely & good location

The building was tired, the rooms very basic, bathroom very old & dirty. Very overpriced for what you get, breakfast wasn't very nice, no juice glasses, hot breakfast had funny taste, think the oil needed to be replaced/changed & ran out of white bread.
