Wonderful stay in a museum-like hotel

Expect to be disappointed, not as it is marketed

- plenty of pillows - temperature in room easy to control (in winter) - location is lovely

- reviews we read did not match our experience - late responses from reception often unhelpful - no one on site to welcome us when we arrived (locked out) - poorly maintained rooms, really sad to see such poor repairs - staff appeared to be actively avoiding us and had no interest in how our sty was going - breakfast doesn’t start until 08:30 and is awkward, flys in cream etc - no tissues in room - no lampshades - no kettle cups or teaspoons in room, asked for one twice, got second day of stay. - reception uncontactable in evening and at night - timber decking on bathroom floor to hide what? - shower sprayed all across room and was at such pressure it actually hurt to use - mattress was aged and had sunk in the centre - no plant milk options at breakfast, no vegan protein options - phone didn’t work

The Perfect Place in Plovdiv

Naci, Jordan and Lidia were amazingly accommodating staff. They let us check in early and hold bags late. Breakfast was good and the location of the hotel is perfect for walking Old Town Plovdiv.

Beautiful town filled with Roman ruins, stunning architecture, rich with history.

Beautiful old building in a perfect location in the heart of Plovdiv's Old Town. We arrived by car but returned it and would not have wanted to deal with parking at this hotel. The room was beautifully decorated in the style of the building and quite grand. We arrived early and were allowed to check in, which we greatly appreciated. From the hotel, you can easily walk to all tourist sites.

Nothing, really. We were sorry that their restaurant was no long open, as we heard repeatedly that it had been the best restaurant in Polvdiv. We can highly recommend Mayriges, an outstanding Lebanese restaurant in the Kapanna area of Plovdiv.

Our room was lovely and the hotel in a good position in the old town.

The hotel on booking.com advertised a restaurant and cafe. There was nothing not even coffee or tea in the room! False advertising. Very unfair! This is just a guest house, nothing more.

Probably a lot nicer during the summer months, but disappointing and lacklustre in October.

Nice spacious rooms with large beds in the old town. Authentic Bulgarian furniture and decor. Clean facilities.

The bar and restaurant were closed for the season, which we were not aware of prior to booking. There was therefore no central location for us to meet or sit other than on our beds in the rooms. The breakfast was limited and unappetising. There was nobody on reception unless guests were checking in. The single staff member who was our only contact for our second and final day did not speak English and had to phone a colleague to translate. We had hoped for a cosy hotel in the old town, we experienced an apartment with keys to let ourselves in and no communal areas. A bit disappointing.

Fantastic feeling - going back in time

Located in historic Old Town. All attractions and Kapana neighbourhood is nearby. Room was clean and bed was vey comfortable. Too. and hotel was fantastic decorated. Recommended for all occasions.

1. Breakfast was quite poor but breakfast room was very charming and nice decorated. 2. Parking was a small open yard - not so close to the hotel, thus not a protected area. It should be free of charge.

Beautiful hotel in the old town with amazing host

We have never stayed in a more comfortable room. The bed was amazing, bedding fantastic quality and so quiet and relaxing. Лидия our host was absolutely amazing, she is so helpful, accommodating and calm. She made us feel very welcome. We could say a lot more, but people don't read long drawn out reviews, so we'll just say that we cannot recommend this beautiful hotel enough and we will definitely be visiting again.

Disappointing and really can only be described as a poor Bed & Breakfast!

Quirky , old and quaint bedrooms .

Courtyard in a state of disrepair ( used to be able to sit and have drinks out here on my last visit) No bar / drinks service ( when you ask for a soft drink they tell you to go across the road to a little bar/coffee shop which is very unpredictable with its opening times ) No water in the rooms you had to take your glass and fill it in reception Breakfast poor with cold fried eggs Reception / greeting not very friendly Car parking a nightmare ( 10 minute walk away and charged extra )

Nice location, big apartment but quite old with squeaky floorboards and jacuzzi that wasn't working

The hotel was in a very good location in the old town. The two bedroom apartment was big and the beds were comfortable.

The hotel is old so the floorboards were squeaking quite a lot. The jacuzzi in the room wasn't working and since we rented two rooms, there was no toilet paper or soap in one of them. Also the staff didn't help us turn on the TV so we had to figure it out ourselves. It is a bit too expensive for what it was

Lovely family-run hotel in the heart of Old Plovdiv

Lovely hotel run by a welcoming family! Great to stay in one of the old houses in the heart of Old Plovdiv... The room was beautiful, the breakfast was really tasty, and above all - the host family couldn't have been nicer

Since being taken over and having a name change , the atmosphere is different 🥴Although we had a lovely greeting from a lady, we had a surly male member of staff throughout our stay who never smiled or engaged with us which spoiled the atmosphere ! Nice, clean stay in a cute old town

1. LOCATION. The location is great, right in the cute old town and the rooms are nicely decorated. 2. The lady at the reception was also very friendly, spoke good English, and helped me call the bus station because I don't speak Bulgarian. They also have maps of Plovdiv.for you to use. 3. The place is very very clean, has lots of shampoo, body wash, and lotion which were very nice. 4. Internet is pretty fast. 5. I thought the included breakfast was decent. They made me scrambled eggs, coffee, and had tomatoes/cucumbers, bread, yogurt, etc. enough healthy options. Orange juice wasn't fresh however. 6. There is a heater in the bathroom and the room, so that's nice during colder months.

1. NO A/C. The Booking posting was misleading, there is no air conditioning in the room so it got hot, and opening windows didn't help. 2. I didn't get the room I booked. They moved me to room #2 next to the reception which had 2 twin beds facing the main road. So I took one of the beds, later to find out there was another room with a queen bed, it was an apartment. They didn't mention the other room, seems like they didn't want me to use it. It was weird. 3. It's an old building in the old town, so the floor squeaks when you move, especially in the restroom. 4. The toilet had this thing sticking out (I think it was a bidet) but in such a weird position it was poking my butt every time I sat down to use the toilet. 5. Reception is NOT 24/7, which is also another thing not true on the Booking post. They open at 8am maybe and leave at 6pm. I was there in mid-May.. maybe off season? 6. It was LOUD. Since my room was facing the main road, it is super loud especially from people coming back from bars or cars early morning. One of the days a trash pickup truck passed by at like 6am and woke me up. I am a light sleeper so it's a big deal for me. 7. Beds aren't comfortable. They have a box spring mattress which I am not a fan of. 8. The bathroom in my room doesn't have a fan, so it gets pretty humid after the shower. 9. I needed to get to Bus Station Sever (North) early morning to catch a bus to Veliko Tarnovo and the reception told me if I just walk down to the main road exiting the old town, there will be a bunch of taxis. There were NONE. I had to drag my heavy suitcase for 20min until I found one taxi who took me to the station. So the reception was not helpful in this regard at all. 10. They offered a list of massages. So I thought they have a massage room and booked one. However, it's a guy they call up to come and set up a table in your room.

It’s one of the best places i’ve ever stayed. I constantly travel the world and this is in my top 3 without a doubt. The history the location, its a must see. I had the honey moon sweet and it’s very private and very romantic. The surrounding area is exceptional and you can with a short walk get to Kapana for food drink and night life.

We were there during a couple of very hot days in late July and found the little cooling unit in the room inadequate, with the dials stripped so we couldn't make it any cooler. Other than that, the room was fine and your right in the heart of old Plovdiv - but hard to get past when the heat makes sleep difficult.

My experience at Hebros hotel in July 2024

The staff were really friendly and helpful, they gave me the free map of the old town, always greeted me with a smile and answered all the questions I had in a nice manner, the location is perfect - there's a lot to see in a 5-10min walk from the hotel!!!! The cleaning service is also great! The breakfast was pretty tasty, even though there was not a big variety of products, but I'll text about it in the next section. Overall, I want to thank the staff of the hotel for always helping me and making it a great experience for me! I'll definitely come back someday!

A room's sound isolation is pretty bad - you can hear everything happening outside the hotel even with closed windows, the breakfast was tasty, but there's not a big variety of products, I'd like to see some more vegetables there and maybe more sources of protein with less fat (for example turkey/chicken ham), there is no safe at the hotel, and also no wardrobe in the room. The other thing is that the toilet and shower are pretty small in a single bedroom room, but still okay, I forgot to take a picture of it :(

A very warm welcome indeed. Historical and very clean and spacious.

The air conditioner could have been more powerful. The shower cap did not work as a cap - more like a bag with no elastication. The breakfast did not reflect the quality of the rest of the hotel. There could be fresh baked bread and good coffee but instead it was very average. Scrambled eggs looked tired. The restaurant in evening is fantastic, so it was surprising that the breakfast was not of equal quality.

5 ***** hotel for nightmare like experience

The little apartment we stayed in was in the historical center of the city. It was spacious.

We were very astonished to find the hotel in such a state due to its 5 stars and the excellent notation and comments on booking. The hotel is not accessible by car so we had to leave the car in a parking nearby where we had to pay 60 lev for 1 day! The apartment was very noisy, the extra bed we requested was not made when we arrived, the breakfast was really bad and the tables didn't seem to have been cleaned when we arrived the next morning. Unfortunately we don't recommend this hotel at all.

The location of the hotel was outstanding. We could anywhere in a few minutes. You can't beat the location - it was perfect for doing tourist activities and going out at night. And we wanted a fun experience staying in a historic building - which it was true to its description and a very cool experience. The staff was friendly.

The air conditioning did not sufficiently cool down the room, which made it very hard to sleep comfortably. I want to be fair and note (1) that's a bit expected in a super old building and (2) while we were there was record-breaking heat over 100 degrees morning and night. But it definitely impacted our comfort. The breakfast was not great with a minimal spread that had been sitting out a while for the few guests staying there. The people working the breakfast were very kind and accommodating including bringing additional fresh cut vegetables out, but the breakfast buffet was not substantial and the food itself was a bit disappointing. The entrance to room opened up literally into the restaurant. The restaurant (and often-playing pianist) were just on the other side of our windows. We returned to our room to find that there were families eating at the table not 4 feet from the front of our door with loud piano music playing. It felt like, in the evenings particularly, that we didn't have appropriate privacy or quiet.
