Hotel Continental

This is a tough review. Bridget Friendly is generous. Key points to keep in mind… No Elevator. The positives: Location. The room size is fine. Beds were sufficient. AC worked. Relatively clean. The staff were good. The Negatives: No elevator. Tiny bathrooms ( toilet seat would not even go up all the way). Rooms need remodeling. The pictures present as if it were a cool upscale boutique hotel. It is not upscale.

⭐ Our stay at Hotel Continental, Taormina Everything was super and we really enjoyed our stay. Even the parking exactly in front of the hotel was a big plus for us. The room was nice, with a balcony and a beautiful garden view, with Etna right in front of us. We really appreciated that view — it was beautiful for us. The cleaning was superb. The only issues we had were with some of the service and manners of the staff. In the evening, we went to the rooftop bar and restaurant to eat. We had to wait around 20 minutes for a table, but that was completely fine for us. We sat in the inside dining area while waiting for our outside table. We sat on two sofas with a coffee table in front of us. Before us, there was a man drinking, and he left two empty glasses and a plate of peanuts. The waiters saw us sitting there after the man left, but nobody came to clean the table. They simply left everything in front of us. We waited there until our table was ready and they brought us outside. Then, about 10 minutes later, another waiter came running to us and told us that we had not paid for the drinks we had consumed inside! Obviously, I explained to her exactly what had happened. I even told her that during those 20 minutes, no waiter had come to clean the table or ask us if we wanted something to drink while we were waiting. Even the lady responsible for the bookings, who was sitting there the whole time, had seen everything but didn't say anything. After that, we ate and enjoyed the beautiful evening view. However, there was another issue. From the beginning, I asked the waiter to bring a heater near us because we were freezing. Other people had several heaters near them, even extra ones, but my request was ignored. Then, about an hour later, a group of Russian ladies arrived, and they immediately brought them a heater, even though their bill was around 45% less than ours, considering what we had ordered and spent. Also, when the risotto came out, the waiter kept speaking and speaking instead of simply giving us the plate and leaving to continue with his work. As a result, the risotto arrived cold. Another issue happened the next morning at breakfast. Breakfast itself was fine, but I asked an Indian lady waiter for another cappuccino, and I waited around 30 minutes. She came into the breakfast room several times and could see me waiting, but nothing happened. Then I went to the bathroom, and when I came back, the cappuccino had finally arrived — but it was cold, so I left it there. Those things are not acceptable, especially for a hotel of this level. But apart from these experiences, the hotel itself was beautiful and we really enjoyed our stay. I would recommend the hotel, because the location, room, views, cleanliness and overall experience were very good. Unfortunately, some of the people working there can let the hotel down because of their manners and the way they treat guests. Not everyone, of course, but unfortunately most of the staff we encountered during these situations. Thank you.
