The accommodation was centrally located in Coniston; short walk to pubs, restaurants and shops. Ideal location for walking.
The directions given as to the location of the accommodation were very confusing and incorrect. I quote: "Continue past the Church on your right (correct); Swallows Nest is located on the left hand side just after the Coniston Dairy Tearoom". The Tearoom no longer exists. Basically it is a building site with builders banging and hammering from approximately 8am in the morning to late afternoon. I have attached a copy of the Application for Planning Permission, Application No: 7/2-24/5703, dated 15th January 2025 which states: Proposal: Change of use of part ground floor from cafe to ancillary residential accommodation plus ancillary works.

I found the apartment to meet a comfortable long term stay and its location both convenient as well as quiet.
The combined kitchen and front room combination is ideal for a single person usage or couples wishing to take a long term break in Coniston, for those trail walkers or peak climbers the property is ideal.
The bedroom is very spacious and has plenty of storage for both persons sharing, the bed is very comfortable and restful nights sleep is assured so long as you go to bed at 10 pm and awake by 6 am, as the village of Coniston is very sociable of an evening as well as a working village throughout the day.
The detailed information provided by the host is very helpful, especially the local walkers maps and instructions, as they provide an added purpose and enjoyment to the day to day opportunities.
If you have washing to do the washer/dryer is more than adequate so long as you follow the necessary instructions detailed in the hosts information folder provided, there is a drying rack provided and I found it best to keep it in the bedroom whilst in use, as the front room is not suitable or the space by the washer/dryer convenient for access.
Its not a dislike but more of a request to provide a caffetier for those of use whom enjoy grounded coffee, this would be greatly appreciated on my next visit.
Plus the property was advertised as having a dvd player, but none was available, the tv streaming service was appreciated as it offered some personal choices which I found to my taste in entertainment.

Great little apartment, well equipped with everything one could want. Perfect location in this lovely village. We were there as a couple and found the property perfect for the two of us.
Parking was a bit of a lottery but we managed to get a place each day - just!

Convenient location, nice flat, nice bathroom with good hot water system.
It was pretty hard to figure out how to get in in the first place, the email implied someone would meet us but it was actually a very fiddly key safe that needed a combination code sent to us at time of booking, 3 hands and fingernails to open.
We were self catering while marshalling for a 2 day event so we wanted coffee (the glass cafetière spout was broken, which we didn’t notice until we’d made - and wasted the coffee, and then of course no coffee for day 2 😕), hot showers (see ‘what we liked’) and hot food (we couldn’t get the oven to work at all, there was no instruction booklet for it in the ‘appliance book’ so we still don’t know if there was something we could have don’t to make it work if only we’d known. Thus we also wasted a frozen pizza and baked potatoes we’d bought (locally) for tea AND had to eat out, so more expensive and much later then we intended).

Swallows nest is a lovely little flat. The perfect base for exploration of the fells and hills.
