Asteria Venetian Suite

Roberto the owner met us on arrival, he’s a lovely friendly helpful gentleman, the apartment is central to the main shops, and many restaurants nearby.

The property was very well maintained, comfortable, and was in a great location. Roberto was a wonderful host, who helped us any way he could, and was very kind. For instance, our train into Venice was delayed and he waited patiently for us - when we arrived he fully understood our situation and still took the time to explain the city to us. I definitely will stay at this property again.

Roberto is such a brilliant host. His enthusiasm for Venice and his role as a host to tourists is clear from his enthusiastic introduction to both the property and the area. He gave me detailed information on places to visit, where to shop, how to get around and places to eat. I ate at a couple of places Roberto recommended, they could hardly have been closer to the accommodation. The property is so spacious. After Roberto had shown me around I found an additional room I had not noticed the first time, where there was another bedroom. Having previously stayed in places with just a bedroom and bathroom, I kept forgetting where each room was, wandering into the bathroom thinking it was the bedroom! A nice problem to have. The location is brilliant. As it is primarily a residential area it is much quieter than the main tourist areas of Venice. It felt like a haven of calm to return to at the end of a day sightseeing. Getting around I either walked or used the water buses. I was a bit intimidated by the water buses at first, not being sure how to buy tickets, which bus to get to where but it soon all became clear once you get to the stop. Google Maps was a great help. I only used the buses on a couple of occasions, luckily someone gave me a ticket they did not need so I only had to buy an additional ticket that I paid for using the 'tap in' facility at the jetty.
