The cottage was very cosy and the view and environs were superb. The cottage was very clean with the exception of the mattress. It was stained, cold and uncomfortable as it didn’t have a Pillowtop or protector and it was obviously quite old; I could feel the springs when I lay on it. Aside from the bed I had a lovely stay. It really is the most beautiful place.

We spent a perfect week at Mark's home at the tip of the gorgeous Applecross Peninsula. It was perfect in the way that love is perfect-- you love it because of its flaws, not in spite of them. There was something perfectly charming about being in a location where the "local" grocery store was a 30-min drive away and as big as my dining room at home. The water was perfectly fine to drink in spite of its mineral-laden color. And everything else was just breathtaking: the peace, the views, the walks, the reliable internet (if you choose to connect to the outside world), the atmosphere of the cottage itself, Mark's communication and warm hospitality... I could go on and on. It's really just the perfect tranquil hideaway. If you are lucky enough to find it free for your dates, book immediately! You won't regret it.

Fearnmore Church is a wonderful place for two to stay, whether you plan to 'hide away' or not. The place has been thoughtfully 'modernized' without sacrificing its character, and it is well-stocked with all the necessities and conveniences we could have asked for--so one could, indeed, 'hide away' all week if one were inclined to do so. But it's also in a great spot if, like us, you wanted to go out and explore.
Mark, the owner, was a very kind and gracious host, providing us with lots of helpful information about the area before we arrived, and he stopped by for a welcoming chat on the eve of our arrival.
I suppose the litmus test for any lodging is whether one would want to return to it, and here the answer is an unequivocal and enthusiastic 'YES'!

Beautifully presented cottage with regular visits from the local wildlife. Nightly visits from pine martens feeding on the nuts and peanut butter. They were very friendly and not bothered by us watching and taking photos. Also attracted some field mice who were very quick at taking the nuts. The only issue was there was no off road parking although traffic is very light. The verges tended to soften up with the rain. Applecross village pub provides excellent meals for those not wanting to do too much self catering and is approximately 30 minutes away.

I stayed five nights over Christmas and couldn't have picked a better place. The house is beautifully converted from what older OS maps call a mission hall. I can pay it no higher compliment than to say that if I was moving in permanently, there is little I would change. It is warm and comfortable and the kitchen is very well equipped. The large double bed is very comfortable and the bed linen good. Plenty of towels and toiletries too. Fresh roses and lilies in each room indicate a degree of care about the place and the welcome given. The location is stunning - amazing views in all directions and plentiful walking and climbing in some of the most stunning mountain and coastal scenery anywhere in the UK. Thoroughly recommended.

We had a lovely weeks break in The Church. The owner, Mark's, description of the property is accurate, if anything he undersells The Church, which we found to be absolutely delightful, it feels very spacious for two, with a large sitting room and a lovely bedroom and a really comfy bed on the mezzanine floor. The highlight for us was the coal fire and the spectacular views looking over towards the Torridon mountains. The Church was very clean and warm on our arrival and was well equipped with everything we needed for the week, including fresh flowers, toiletries and plenty of fuel for the fire.
Mark was very quick to respond to our questions before we arrived and came round on our first evening to make sure we had everything we needed.
The surrounding area is truly beautiful, with plenty of things to do, we'd recommend the boat trip from Sheildaig, when we took it we saw the resident Sea Eagle, to buy some local smoked salmon from The Applecross Smokehouse and to eat at The Walled Garden restaurant. We also visited the Applecross Heritage Centre which gave a wonderful insight into what Highland life was like hundreds of years ago, there were some lovely old photographs of local residents and we even got to try spinning wool from local sheep.
I'd definitely recommend The Church and the whole area of Applecross.
If you're a wildlife lover, you'll enjoy the nightly visits from a Pine Marten which came to eat the nuts and peanut butter we put out for it.
