Lovely stay at the Arch Guesthouse in Clifden, Co. Galway🥰

Location cleanliness and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Manager Ivan was a nice guy and helpful during my stay there.

Showers were a bit small for larger guy like myself. Some of the TV channels didn't work either for some reason. Not a major issue as I was out sightseeing.

Comfortable Room in Good Location

The location is very good and central - right on one of the main streets of Clifden. The host was friendly and helpful - allowing me to check in early when I arrived (hoping just to leave one of my bags there for a day trip to Kylemore Abbey) and giving me advice about the area. The room was spacious, the bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was good.

Two of my main requirements - hopes, nowadays - when I check into a hotel is to have a TV with local channels and a kettle (tea/coffee-making facilities) in the room. In this case, this was half met as there was a TV, but absolutely no channel reception at all - they were there, but no reception. There were streaming services on the TV, however. There was no kettle, but a capsule coffee machine where it was possible to heat water for other things - tea, soup, noodles, whatever... Almost ironically, when I tried to have a coffee the next morning, it didn't work; I 'wasted' 2 capsules trying to get it to work. I do not know why it didn't work, but the machine/a capsule may have been jammed by the previous room occupant... In addition, waking up the next morning there was absolutely no wifi - very unfortunate. There was no easy heating instructions in the room. I felt the whole downstairs/reception was very dark indeed.

Relaxing, refreshing, stimulating.

Guest house is well located for local walks, and for plenty of great places to eat and drink.

It was all grand. WiFi and Telly didn't work in my room, Ivan very kindly moved me to another, a much larger space. Both were very comfortable.

Great, helpful staff; follow the sidewalk signs to find the guesthouse!

Initially, there was a constant whistling sound, thought the window wasn't closed tight. Turned out to be something from outside the building. Small room, but adequate for our needs. Breakfast was pretty standard buffet style...cheese,fruit, cold cuts, choice of Juices, porridge, cold cereal, yogurt,etc. Appreciated it being included in our stay!

They had a choice of Irish or continental breakfast which was great. The restaurant was right under the rooms but was closed when we were there. The location was great, right in the city and the national park was only a short drive away.

We’ll be back!

This is our second time staying here and we would return again! The location is ideal- right in the centre of Clifden. The Lamplight restaurant is a must- the food was exceptional. The staff were helpful and friendly and the breakfast was tasty. The room was simple but it had everything we needed and was warm and comfortable. Strong wifi! Excellent value!

Disappointing stay in Clifden

The bed was comfortable enough.

This was the worst accommodation we have ever stayed in. The room was really a single with a double bed in it. No space. Old ,worn furniture. The bed was comfortable enough but had the headboard slanted down on one side. Filthy behind it. The shower hadn't been cleaned. No tea/coffee making facilities. Tiny tv on the wall. Single wardrobe.. No One around when checking out. I just left the key. I always use booking .com. but after this I won't have the same trust in reviews.
