Delighted to have found such a little gem! Perfect base for the Paris-Roubaix and an extra few days cycling.

A really unique setting within the walls of a little oasis in Valenciennes. The room was spotless and very comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and was served in the conservatory/orangery. The property is within a few minutes walk of an amazing selection of restaurants and cafes - we were spoiled for choice.

Overhead rain shower needed repair, and milk and spoon in room would have been nice to go with the coffee.

As there were no other guests is seemed a bit soulless. Difficult to get information regarding local restaurants. Seemed a bit strange with drying laundry hanging on the balustrade during evening. Were told there was no parking available but after paying for overnight public parking discovered there was space on site for several vehicles

Perfect for a one nighter before heading to the Tunnel 1.5 hours away

Fab rooms and house with floodlit gardens and secure parking. Breakfast was superb.

No need to have the garden floodlights on all night!

Really nice and classy B&B in Valenciennes

Maison Mathilde is in the class of fine boutique hotels, but is a B&B. The breakfast is excellent, the rooms exceed any expectation. We had one called "Jeff", forty square meters with a tub, nice shower and good furniture. King size bed with a perfect mattress. With a free-standing tub in the room itself (no separate bathroom), of course you have to be good friends to share the room with someone, but it is a cool decor. The house is an old mansion with a big park right outside the large breakfast room and lobby.

Actually we almost gave up on finding Maison Mathilde and lodge somewhere else. Because of roadwork, the gps couldn't lead us to the right address, and it was really difficult to find. I think Maison Mathilde might improve the service by informing arriving guests about that and make sure they can actually find their way to this truly wonderful B&R

Maison Mathilde sparkles and shines like a Rising Queen. Unexpected gracefulness.

Maison Mathilde is a pearl in the city of Valenciennes. It is an oase of peace, tranquility and luxury in this old North-France city. A major asset to the hotel is Mme Ludivine, who takes care of reception, welcoming, breakfast. Her spirit breaths Maison Mathilde. The overall decoration of the shared functions and the private rooms are beautifully, contemporary designed. We felt very welcome, safe and at home, far away from home.

I can't find anything to improve. The only minor comment would be to have a more flexible check-in time, as now it is limited from 17:30 to 19:30, but again that's not a big deal at all.

Comfortable stay in the centre of town with some beautiful surprises

A little wonderland in the middle of Valencienne. Spacious rooms with interesting details (huge kitchen counter, cealing beams in the sleeping room, freestanding bath) attached to an old, very well restored mansion with a beautiful garden. From the terrace, which is very well furnished you have a beautiful overview. The beds are very comfortable and the location was very quiet. Easy parking directly at the mansion.

The breakfast was wonderful. Freshly squeezed orange juice, fresh croissant and pain au chocolat, eggs and lots more..... very friendly and devoted hosts.

The jacuzzi in the room made som noice during the night, but other wise perfect stay.

The view of the garden, the quietness of the room, the friendly staff member, a very good breakfast.

Check in time 17h30 is quite late. We arrived at 14h30, and had to amuse ourselves for 3 hours before we were allowed onto the premises. Also, could muesli be added to the breakfast menu?

Wonderful place - surprising

Very beautiful interior, great location, quiet. Having both shower and bathtub. Spacious room!

It's quite hot in the summer and the duvet is still a thick winter one. The bed is quite comfortable, so it's a pity that the duvet is too warm.

Une trés belle batisse dans un écrin de verdure en plein coeur de ville. La chambre est spacieuse, avec tout le confort moderne.La maison a été rénovée en alliant authenticité et modernisme. Une belle réussite!!!!! Il faut préciser que la gérante de l'établissement est d'une extrême gentillesse, trés à l'écoute . Un accueil irréprochable...... Le petit déjeuner est trés bon, complet ( sucré, salé). Les pains sont variés et frais comme les viennoiseries. Tout est bien. La place de parking est aussi un plus.

De liggen is heel centraal in de stad

Het ontvangst was niet echt hartelijk. De poort was gesloten en de dame die de deur moest openen moesten we zelf telefonisch benaderen . Na 10 minuten werden we binnen gelaten

Séjour enchanté en plein centre

L'endroit est tout simplement magique, en plein centre mais super calme et entouré d'un jardin magnifique.La bâtisse elle même est superbe et a été restaurée avec beaucoup de goût. Notre chambre (la Rosa) était merveilleuse, de belles couleurs, grande hauteur sous plafond, vue sur le jardin, poutre sculptée. Un enchantement. Petit déjeuner très agréable avec jus pressé, des oeufs à la demande, de bon produit, et toujours ce splendide jardin.

Le seul bémol pour nous a été la forte luminosité de la chambre le matin qui a altéré la qualité de notre sommeil. Les rideaux ne sont pas vraiment occultants, et la très grande porte donnant sur la salle de bain, qui elle même a deux très grandes fenêtres, elle vitrée. Donc beaucoup de jour passait. Il faudrait mettre des rideaux vraiment occultants, et mettre un rideau pour la porte.
