Room very comfortable and the breakfast very good. The location was perfect for us bringing right next to the Hooge Museum and cemetery and the trenches.
There was nothing we disliked.

Lack of restaurant on a Sunday evening!

Location was ideal for us, there is secure parking for motorcycles. The room is comfortably large, clean and shower was excellent. Staff were welcoming and helpful. Our room was quiet and the bed was very comfortable.
The only thing that would have been nice, is if there were a kettle for tea/coffee in the room, but this is a very minor issue. The hotels breakfast facilities are excellent and the food was fresh and delicious.

Lovely accommodation this is the 3rd time visiting đ
No tea / coffee facilities in the room. I find this unusual .. each time I wanted a cup of tea it cost me 3 euros !

The hotel is set back from a the Menin road into Ypres on the edge of a WW1 frontline site, and has an open air museum in its grounds. It is a period building that is a around 100 years old and is full of character. The room we had was in the old building facing the pond and was clean, comfortable and quite with a small balcony.
Breakfast was typical continental, and we also ate in the bar one evening and had good food. Staff are friendly and helpful, and even arranged early breakfast for us on our day of departure as we needed to leave before 8am when breakfast officially starts.
We walked both ways into Ypres as public transport is pretty poor and taxis were not available after the last post at the Menin Gate. This took us around 45 minutes each way.
The Hooghe crater museum and cemetery next door are well worth a visit, and we were given discount vouchers for this, along with lots of other information at check-in.

Quirky old fashioned family-run hotel on outskirts. WW1 historic garden, museum and walks adjacent. Pleasant but unspectacular restaurant, bar and breakfast. Quiet. Spacious room. WiFi and hot water fine.
A bit far to walk into Ypres but you can see that when you book. The restaurant is closed on Fridays and Saturdays (didn't impact us fortunately).

Absolutely charming hotel on the outskirts of Ypres, steeped in history with war history within the grounds and a museum about 50 metres away. Really beautiful place, good parking, clean comfortable rooms and extremely nice breakfast. Helpful staff, family run, cant recommend it highly enough. About a 10 min drive into Ypres Centre but so worth staying outside because of the history of this place.

Friendly atmosphere, nice setting, free parking for our motorbikes. Comfortable room, very good breakfast. Recommended!
Bar times: a bit too early closing

It was everything I expected and the evening meal when we arrived was great. Having the Hooge Crater and (small part of) the battlefield within the grounds was a huge bonus. Parking was fine and the air con worked very well. The road outside was being repaired, so we had to go around to get back as only one direction worked, but otherwise very good.
My main complaint was that the restaurant was closed Friday, Saturday and Sunday night, which when coupled to the road up problem led to a lot of restaurant searching. The bar however was open, so not an insuperable problem, as long as we returned in a good time.

We stayed in the old part of the hotel overlooking Hooge Crater - beautiful serene place with stunning scenery, flowers and the occasional flock of sheep. We enjoyed a meal in the restaurant which was most convenient after a long day of travel. The breakfast was exceptional for a buffet style breakfast. Nice, friendly staff in a beautiful old hotel,
Plenty of parking on site.
No tea/coffee making facilities in room.

This was a wonderful hotel for visiting the sights of the Ypres Salient of WW1. The Hooghe Crater is now a lake in the grounds, there are trenches also in the grounds and many artifacts of intrest from the Great War. So central to the major places in the allied push for Passchendaele and the many resulting cemeteries and museums that have emerged.
The staff were just lovely, the food ( although not a huge choice) was excellent and generous.
We would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel. What a find.

Itâs a return visit, so itâs a â what do I like?â

Beautiful hotel, friendly staff. It's next door to a WWI museum and sits on the old front line, with remains of trenches in the grounds, so if you are interested in WWI it's a perfect spot. The bed was massive and very comfortable.
The only issue is that I was using public transport and part of the road outside was closed. This meant an hour plus to get there from Ypres by bus (actually quicker to walk, which I did...) Even when the road is open properly, the bus doesn't run into the evening and is only once an hour, so you are probably better if you have a bike or car.

Not sure how this hotel receives a 3 star rating; must be only because of the location. Customer service is basically non-existent. We arrived early and were pleased that our room was ready. It was necessary to ring a bell to have someone come to the front desk. Also when using the cafe during open hours no one was available for service even after calling out. There is not a kettle in the room for tea making and when you can finally get someone in the cafe (on second separate time in) you are charged 3euro. The bathroom looked refreshed but one is provided with body/shampoo gel in 3 small packets which are impossible to open. A bit of soap, the size of a ThinMint, is also provided. None of these were refreshed in a 2 night stay. On checkout a bill was presented and not even a "how was you stay" mentioned. Stay for the location which is historic and near a great private museum. Have no expectations and you'll be fine.
