Charming hosts. Unfortunately only possible to pay with cash. We had a large chambre d'hote.

Breakfast nicely laid out at the grand table. Eggs provided to order. Interesting historical building with quirkiness and encumbent with all the difficulties one encounters when trying to upgrade to modern amenities and regulations

Unfortunately the weather decided to change to heavy rain showers so unable to take advantage of the beach and surrounding area. The property was somewhat difficult to locate as sat. nav. took us to the sea entrance which was not a through way (a hunt was also in progress at the time).

two delightful days.

This is an old family run chateau, it may be somewhat tired but its owners and the charm of such a property are very much to its advantage. if you want a modern stay this is the wrong place for you but if you are looking for real France then the Count and Countess have the ideal place. We one evening had a picnic in the garden rather than eat out and the Countess was so helpful with plates etc. the garden setting is lovely and very spacious. The breakfast room and the food were excellent.

Historic chateaux We had a a comfort suit as a late booking , it was extensive & impressive Comfortable bed , had tea making facilities which is appreciated. Need to know - They don’t take card payments.

Over bath shower , a wall bracket would have helped. Some uneven steps on stairs but unavoidable due to age of property

An excellent relaxing overnight stay. Hope to return.

Relaxed atmosphere of old “grandeur”. Rural location so nice and quiet. Very atmospheric with lovely gardens and woodland park. Dogs delightful as were our hosts who were very welcoming and helpful.

Not being able to pay by card was a bit of a surprise, but cash point in neighbouring village did the trick.

It was all perfect. The owners even picked us up when we had a medical urgency and provided us with a Picknick when all restaurants were closed in the evening. Thanks again for your hospitality.

Authentic

The atmosphere is fascinating, authentic (the castle did not change family property along the years) and enriched by the gentleman owner answering to any question on the family/castle story. Room is big and with old/ancient decorations. Park is perfect complement to the castle's atmosphere, nocturnal birds seen in the night when coming back to room.

Small room defects are absolutely negligible vs the authentic atmosphere. Imperfect is perfect in such a location.

The Chateau de Bonabry is a jewel. Our room was breathtaking, we were bedded like queens, had our own salon and views to the beautiful park and garden. The hosts are incredibly welcoming and make you feel special in every single minute of your stay: The evening in our salon, the beed under a baldachin, the breakfast chat with our host, and the morning in the sunny park.

We liked everything.

If you are looking for an outstanding Hotel - then you are right here!! Where you can sleep in an ambient like that? The rooms are in very good condition and lovingly furnished with personal items from the current owners. You can see how the live was centuries ago in a castle like this. We were travelling around the world, but we never found a location like that! Simply beautiful!! Beside all these wunderful things you can stay in very beautiful garden with hunderts from roses, you will found a very quite surrounding and the sand beach is very close. With one word - it was crazy beautiful!

Quite an experience

Lovely property full of character. Very friendly staff and the breakfast was generous. Lovely to meet the owners and learn about their long history with the estate.

The bed was rather old and short and a shower in the bathroom would have been more practical

Romantic getaway for two in a beautiful scenery!

The family du Fou and their hostess where so warm and welcoming. The castle and the rooms are gorgeous, as well as the garden and it’s surrounding buildings. Such a great place for a romantic getaway! Close to the beach which where we had a wonderful stroll during low tide. Truely a great place to enjoy France!

I’m quite allergic of mite, and because of the rugs in the rooms I was a bit asthmatic. If you bring your medicine, it’s not a problem. The rest is wonderful :)!

Séjour sympathique et un voyage dans le temps.

C'est un voyage dans le temps très sympathique et une approche sociologique d'un monde à la croisée des chemins du temps. Monsieur le Vicomte et son épouse se battent pour conserver leur patrimoine historique et l'héritage d'une famille fidèle à son histoire. Certes le château a un peu vécu, les couloirs et les chambres sont les témoins d'un beau passé un peu suranné, mais tout est fait pour le confort des invités. Prendre le petit déjeuner autour d'une vaste table garnie de vaisselle en porcelaine, de cafetière d'argent, dans une salle remplie de trophées de chasse, de photos souvenirs et d'objets d'époque c'est la classe ! Le tout agrémenté par les commentaires de Mr le vicomte, un homme charmant, truculent et plein d'humour, c'est une expérience !

L'accueil de nos hôtes à été exceptionnel ,d'une gentillesse et d'une simplicité rare. Nous avons passé 5 jours parfaits. un château et des services authentiques. un petit déjeuné plus que parfait dans un cadre et de la vaisselle magnifique. Un endroit très riche humainement. Un immense merci à nos hôtes . Nous y retournerons avec joie.

Una dimora di campagna d’epoca.

Bellissima location, in piena campagna ma vicina ad Hillion. La struttura e’ del ‘600, con camere spaziose ed arredate con mobili d’epoca. Ci si sente ospiti a casa dei proprietari piuttosto che “clienti”, immersi in una residenza di campagna d’epoca.

Qualità dei tessuti (lenzuola, asciugamani, etc) può essere migliorata. Alcune finiture (ad esempio la doccia) dovrebbero essere migliorate. Ottima colazione.

l'accueil, la chambre dans son jus de plusieurs dizaines d'années et la salle de bain au bout du couloir. Lorsqu'on a répondu avoir réservé sur booking, l'hôte a fait la grimace ! malgré l'occupation d'une seule chambre, nous avons eu droit à une chambre bas de gamme ! aucune réponse à nos questions sur le réseau de bus à proximité, aucune information sur un restaurant à proximité alors qu'éloigné de tout et qu'on était des marcheurs. Le petit déjeuner était basique. Le coût était trop élevé. Médiocre
