A great budget place to stay. I would happily stay there again.

Nice period features and spotlessly clean. The weather was miserable when i arrived and the room was nice and warm. Just a short walk to the town centre and easy street parking just round the corner. Good communication after booking and the owners were really friendly. Guest also have access to a small guest kitchen which has a microwave and some plates etc.

What a Gem! Very happy to stay here again.

What a delightful room, set apart from the main house. Good lighting and plenty of sockets. Lovely comfy bed,. beautiful wooden furniture provided lots of storage. Very nice bathroom, which was immaculate, with big fluffy towels. Great shower, and we really liked the dinky soaps. Our host was smashing, very welcoming and friendly as was the lovely lady who served us our breakfast. The location was perfect - just a short walk into town, which looked very interesting. We had a very enjoyable stay, and I'm sure we'll be back. Fabulous. Please say thank you to the staff for all their hard work, it was very much appreciated.

A couple of teeny weeny niggles. The towel rail was very HOT - it took a while for us to find the means to turn it down. Some instructions would have been very helpful Bob found it rather slippery in the shower, so maybe a little mat in there to stop you sliding about? That's it, everything else was just perfect.

I really enjoyed staying at the Balmoral guest house and would definitely go there again.

Lovely spacious clean room, quiet location, comfortable bed, excellent breakfast with the best scrambled egg in UK, very handy location for getting into town, generous host who picked me up from the station and offered to take me back at the end of the stay.

Remarkable sums up this Gem of a place!

From booking to arriving the communication was excellent. I was greeted by a lovely young lady on arrival. Shortly after showing me the beautiful room Andrew the host arrived to introduce himself. I had made it known to Andrew during earlier correspondence I was needing accommodation here because my Son had become very sick and was on life support at the nearby hospital. Andrew and his lovely assistant have been such a support to me during my stay. They truly have been my guardian angels and I'll no amount of Thank yous' will ever be enough. The breakfasts are amazing with the most delicious sausages. Served in a quaint dining room. When I next visit my son and his family in Darlington in happier times I will be visiting this remarkable guest house with my husband. If anyone reading this is wanting outstanding accommodation with the kindest most caring host please look no further. They make you feel like one of the family.

A Rare Gem in Beautiful Darlington

My daughter's stay at the Balmoral guest house was nothing short of perfection. I booked a room for my young (adult) daughter, who was attending a job interview at the nearby hospital, so she could have a "homebase" whilst interviewing. The manager of the guesthouse called me before her arrival to ask if we needed any special assistance and was extremely assuring and helpful. The guesthouse sits in a lovely street, lots of trees, and easily accessible from the train station. The building itself is gorgeous and very well maintained and clean. Room was incredibly comfortable too. Staff was not only polite but very welcoming and helpful throughout my daughter's stay - she was a bit nervous and they were all very kind and reassuring to her. Breakfast was heavenly. Overall, a perfect stay.

Lovely traditional building with everything you need for a lovely stressless stay.

I didn't get a chance for breakfast but I certainly wanted to, the lanlord was lovely and the venue was just what I needed, not the Ritz, somewhere clean affordable with nice staff.

I booked a single room and was upgraded to a double ensuite! What was there not to like? The setup was easy and I loved the area. Thanks! He even helped me with parking which was difficult

I felt very ‘at home’ in this guest house!

A very warm welcome! Very friendly, helpful and accommodating owner! Breakfast was amazing! I loved the house with its unusual original features tiled mosaic floor, stained glass leaded windows, beautiful wooden bannisters. ( It reminded me of my mother’s house in Stanhope Road)

I had problem connecting to the internet. Also switching on the TV. Both of these things were not the end of the world for me! I like to get the weather forecast & news headlines in a morning!

Quaint and a little old fashioned but not dated, helpfull and friendly owner and staff, full English was great and affordable. We will be back as we travel to Darlington regularly to visit friends and family. Top notch.
