I,like that’s it’s tucked away and is quaint …
It’s getting a bit tired, the towels smelled of mold, but there was no one to complain to, or to help with my bag on arrival, it’s a three level spiral stair case… I was going to leave a great review as I have stayed previously, but this time it just wasn’t up to the same standard - which was sad…. Not sure I will return

Lovely property on the main Street into town. Large apartment.
Parking is always a small issue here.. Not available outside on Thursdays as there is a Frii market. Park at the car park by the town hall. Slightly awkward entry to the property via a a coded door then onto the safe box for the key. But they explain this very well in the welcome email.

Fabulous stylish room in historic building
We had a little trouble finding the entrance in the dark and rain but good instructions once we got there

I loved the cosiness of the room and the comfort of the bed. There were great facilities, including plenty of bottled water, tea and coffee facilities.
I would have liked a mini fridge to add some food and milk, as well as have the choice of drinking a long coffee. I didn't like the step that leads to the bedroom (can easily trip) in that particular room on the third level and how I have almost hit my head with the wooden beam.

Comfortable. warm bed and breakfast in the heart of Caen. Good simple breakfast. Close to the Castle and shops. Tea and coffee in the bedrooms. Friendly staff.
Steep steps to the upper floors.
Not very well insulated for the sound.

This is such a unique property, tucked away behind an old carriage door! This was our second visit. The house is so lovely, with well-appointed rooms. We stayed in the yellow room which was exceptionally spacious for France. There was ample room for us and our two teen-aged kids. Breakfast was excellent.
The location is within walking distance of many nearby restaurants and shops.
Shower was small and had low water pressure.

The property setting was perfect - only a ten minute walk into the main centre of Caen. Gorgeous position, easy parking in street outside. Beautiful terrace, very warm welcome. Exceptional rooms with everything you need and extremley well maintained. Wonderful breakfast. Really could not ask for more. A very warm welcome from Martin.
Absolutely nothing!

The location is excellent in the centre, yet you feel like you’re in a country mansion. The staff were really helpful and friendly. The building and courtyard were charming.
The room we had was in the attic and the ceilings were a bit low in places. Some milk in the room would have been nice.

The property was very clean and very cozy. We felt right at home. The managers were fantastic - always available and making sure we have everything we need. During the night it was very quiet and we slept very well. The beds were very comfortable. The property has breakfast every morning, which was amazing - eggs, fresh French cheeses from the region of Calvados where Caen is located, and several meats to choose from. Also, fresh baguette and croissants daily with espresso and juices. There was walking distance to all fantastic restaurants where we had dinner every night. This trip was to visit Normandy and Memorial de Caen, Mont St Michel and St Malo. It was a fantastic trip. We absolutely love it. We will definitely come back to Caen, to see again the charming city and its people!!

Location, lovely building
We were in the attic room which was exceptionally hot, however the main problem was not being able to lock the bedroom door.

Beautiful hotel a stones throw from restaurants and shops.
Exceptional facilities and really clean. The stone staircase up to our room was amazing.
Fantastic breakfast - do not miss!
David went out of his way to ensure our stay was just great-wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this gem!
We liked everything.

WOW, a truly beautiful hotel tucked away. It is so peaceful even though it is in the bustling town of Caen. A short walk across the street, and you are in the heart of cafes, restaurants, and bars that are lively until late.
We came for a special birthday and to pay our respects, David, thank you for your wonderful hospitality it has been a trip to remember and we certainly will return.

A small but ideally located hotel with friendly and efficient staff. The room was clean and comfortable and the courtyard is beautiful.

Location was good to restaurants, bars and city center. Very nice room. Breakfast was available
The smell of the sewer or water was awful. The taste of water was terrible. The narrow winding staircase was terrible to luggage. There was no help getting luggage up the stairs.

It is quintessentially French wonderfully renovated and breakfasts perfect each morning. The staff are wonderfully helpful and pleasant. Lovely seating area outside in a sun trap. Perfectly situated to roam around Caen which is charming on that side of the city.
Sadly the washing machine is rather smelly and situated at the bottom of the stairs up to the rooms. Whilst you do not smell it in the room you open the door into the stairwell and it is quite overpowering. Parking can be an issue close to the hotel but there are other parking options within 500m

FRENCH CHARM ! Amazing property and easy to check in.
We had the luck on Friday morning there was a French open market right in front of our hotel. So much to see and perfect location. A must stay!

Very clean and comfortable room and friendly staff.
The winding stone staircase to the third floor with luggage was quite challenging.

The bed was extremely bad and uncomfortable. We saw a person of the hotel only in the morning that we left after staying for two nights even though we arrived at 1830 on the second day. When we placed an order, it was not written that it is in the third floor (or bell boy…). Asked to replace room ahead but no reply.

Very good location: absolutely in the centre, but in a courtyard, not directly on the street, so it is quiet - and I am ultra sensitive about this. And easy to find parking place on the street (a large square), and it is free from 19 to 9.30. 2 taps and tub in the bathroom. Spacious bathroom, with lots of room to pack. Free water in the room (2 little bottles). For me the most comfortable pillow in our 8 days trip - but for my pair it was the worst, so it is matter of taste :). Door between the bed and the corridor door – still many hotels forget it, while it has strong impact on noise isolation! Separate wc - however it is very smelly (but there is toilet freshener). Tea making facility in the room. Separate wardrobe room - although it is moderately useful. The 2 mannequins are also good.
The door handles are very noisy - I suppose it would not be a huge amount to fix it. The parquet also creaks a lot. At breakfast there is no egg, sausage; only ham - imho it is correct for this price, but if you would like to eat a lot, it will be disappointing. It is very cozy that there is candle handler - but it would be worth something, if there would candlestick (I suppose it is not allowed because of fire protection reasons).

The manager or proprietor, “David”, was very communicative and easy to work with, even with a bit of a language barrier. We truly appreciate that. We had to arrive quite late and he gave excellent instructions on how to enter the property and retrieve the key. Our quarters, the “Yellow Room”, were beautiful and very spacious. The stone staircase, while gorgeous, is a bit hard to maneuver if you have a lot of luggage, as we did. If you travel light, you should have no trouble. There were chips and sodas available if we wanted them. The breakfast was very good. Next time in Caen, I hope we can stay for more than one night.
The mattress in the twin room was a bit too hard for me but the queen mattress in the other room was fine. The bathroom was just a tiny bit slippery. I definitely need handrails.

The room was large, clean and had everything we needed. They had even taken care to have a refillable jug for water and 'eco' toilet paper. Great central location too.
No-one there on arrival and no message was left for us. When I called it turned out that the person that was supposed to welcome us had to leave. Luckily we managed to find the code sent to us by email and navigate the key box etc.
I think it's unsafe from a fire point of view to have the door to the outside of the property locked, so you need a key to get out.
They were using peat in their garden compost which is very bad environmentally.
They sent us a list of restaurants but none of them were open the night we were staying there.

Great location good restaurant and friendly people in a wonderful setting
The breakfast was awful. Very poor selection with uncooked pastries. Very unlike France in general especially as they manage a very good restaurant
Our only complaint.
