Arenal Lodge is a private and secluded hotel in the mountains of San Carlos with amazing views of the volcano, trails and gardens to walk around and a bunch of activities in their property. It is a perfect location for a romantic getaway.

The property had the best view, facilities like a restaurant with great breakfast, horse riding, and daily cleaning.
The drive up is perfect if you are planning a get away far from everything and just want to stay in a very nice hotel, but something to consider if you have a busy planning with outside activities

Natural place surrounded by jungle. Very private feeling.
It is far from the main road. I recommend a rental car.

The view from the common area is beautiful. The room was large and spacious.
The common area had a beautiful deck overlooking the mountian. Unfortunately they allow guests to fly drones here and we went to watch the sunrise before breakfast one morning and in the common garden guests were flying an EXTREMELY noisy drone. It sounded like a jet engine. This was BEFORE 7 am in the morning. Absolutely ruined the peaceful atmophere. ALso one of the jacuzzis was not heated up and the other was too full to use.
With regards to our room, the microwave was broken which we did not discover until we brough food back that needed to be reheated. We tried several different outlets but it was definitely the microwave. Our dinner was wasted, it was too late to make a fuss over this so we just went to bed hungry and wasted the food.
