Meals were excellent, and the room was as hoped. Enjoyed the hotel stay very much.
Having booked through Booking.com I incurred full price for the room and full price for the evening meals despite the stay being during the Wnter season stay deal at the hotel. That was very disappointing!

We had a great room looking out over the garden and the mountains in the distance, bathroom was also big with underfloor heating. Bar area had an open fire and a wide selection of whiskies, food - both breakfast and dinner were also good. Able to walk around the grounds and wish we had more time to explore local walks.
Nothing - it was perfect.

The hotel offers high quality service. From the food, to the room and the friendly staff, everything was great. The location is great, the building is beautiful and surrounded by lush woodland. Autumn colours were in full display during our stay, which as a landscape photographer, that's what we were there for!
Not much to mention here. We are probably in the minority who arrive by public transportation, so going up the hill with luggage on a unpaved track was challenging. Other than that, our stay was perfect!

Beautiful setting tucked away from everything. Just so peaceful sitting on the terrace enjoying a cup of tea and later pre dinner drinks. Stuart and Susannah are absolutely wonderful hosts, nothing is too much for them or their staff.

We returned to the Coul House to celebrate our wedding anniversary, having been married there 20 years ago after first falling in love with it during our very first holiday together 27 years ago. The property remains as charming as ever, with tasteful redecoration, modernised bathrooms, and a lovely restoration of original features in the lobby that preserve its historic character. One delightful new addition is the Fairy Trail in the beautiful grounds, which only adds to the hotel’s enchantment. The atmosphere is peaceful and relaxing, and the food, wine, and service in the restaurant are all of excellent quality. A truly memorable stay.
While our stay was memorable, there were a few aspects that didn’t quite meet expectations. The WiFi connection was very poor, which made it difficult to stay connected, and the in-room TV was not modern—lacking internet access, streaming capabilities, or casting options. The bathroom, although updated, was very small with only a compact shower cubicle, and unfortunately, there was a persistent unpleasant odour reminiscent of asparagus.
Given the room rate, which is on par with quality 4- to 5-star hotels in London, I would have expected these elements to be of a higher standard. Additionally, while the food and service in the restaurant were excellent and worth the praise, guests should be aware that dining can significantly add to the overall cost. Our final invoice worked out to roughly £75–£80 per person per night for dinner, and that was with only light alcohol consumption.

Impossible to say how very relaxing and charming it was. The staff were superb and did everything possible to make you feel at home. A great difference, of course, between marvellous family-run hotels like this and chain hotels. Highly recommended.

Everything is Perfect. This was our 30th wedding anniversary trip and we are so thankful we got to experience it here. From the minute we arrived until our goodbye Jonathan and Susanna made us feel part of the family. The entire staff is wonderful, no detail is overlooked and no request will go unfulfilled. The restaurant is wonderful; you should plan on eating at least a couple of dinners there. We loved how you stayed in the bar, to the side, until your table was ready and the chef had started your meal preparation. The breakfast was an extension of the dinner; let's just say I ate like a country gentleman. Our room was very spacious overlooking the beautiful grounds and gardens. We had a separate seating area with a chair and couch. Our bathroom floor was heated with a big tub and shower. My wife loved the fairy walk and I was partial to the beautiful gardens, especially the giant Sequoia and Douglas Fir trees. We did day trips to Dunrobin Castle, Loch Ness, and Corrieshalloch Gorge; all are only about an hour away so very convenient. Thank you for a wonderful stay. P.S. South Carolina misses you Jonathan and Susanna!
Absolutely nothing.

Lovely inside and outside, service excellent, owners taking care of everything and very hands on. Food was very good, I would definitely stay at this hotel again. I loved the way you had prepared dinner drinks and ordered dinner, you were then taken through to the dining room when your table was ready. Breakfast was superb as well.

Excellent service, great garden and views and good dinner. Very comfortable bed.
Very small bedroom and tiny en-suite, tired old basic furniture with no room for luggage, which was very disappointing given the over £250 per night price.

A wonderful one night stay at this hotel while in town for a friends birthday event. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The room were comfortable, clean and very spacious. Breakfast in the morning was delicious with a really great authentically Scottish menu. Would definitely come back again.
Thanks to the hotel team for a lovely stay!
The only word of warning is if you need to walk into Contin from the hotel at night - it's a 10-15 minute walk down a dirt track road in the pitch black! Bring a torch!

What a unique, off the beaten path, experience staying at the Coul House Hotel!! Stuart, the owner greeted us warmly from the moment we arrived! He was so kind and conversational with my family! Every meal was absolutely delicious. We adored the fairy garden walking trails on property. The owners and staff obviously take great pride in their work and really know how to take care of people! We also appreciated the use of two E mountain bikes on site that we could rent. Stuart mapped out suggestions for single track trails and a fun stop at a waterfall. My girls wanted to go swimming in a local Lock, so they helped us with directions and they even supplied us with towels! One afternoon, my girls just sat under the gazebo drinking tea and playing chess. The Coul hotel was a highlight of our trip and we will recommend to friends and family visiting the Highlands.
We loved everything about it!!

This is a sweet property with a restaurant and bar/lounge. The owners are very nice, and attentive to details. The breakfast was very good.
We were not very impressed with the dinners we ordered. The food was acceptable, but maybe not worth the price.
