Beautiful location right down next to Loch and super cosy cabin. Very well equiped and lovely decor. Breakfast at the main hotel included in our price was excellent and we also chose to have dinner in the restaurant which was also great.

Third visit - truly special!

This was our third visit to Black Sheep in Spean Bridge and each visit is even better than the last! A truly special hotel with beautiful views, great good and we loved having our dogs with us this time too!

The location was perfect, calm environment. Cabins were clean and well stocked. We only stayed for two nights but we will be back for more.

Thermostats for the rooms weren’t working, overnight rooms overheated and by morning temperature in the bedroom was 27 degrees even though thermostat was set at 14 degrees. This I am sure can be easily fixed

A spacious and comfortable house with plenty of room – small improvements would make the stay perfect.

The accommodation is very spacious, with parking spaces conveniently located right in front of the door. There are three bathrooms and two showers, which is perfect for families or groups. The beds are large and very comfortable. The house is beautifully designed, tastefully decorated and cleverly laid out – you can tell that a lot of thought went into making guests feel comfortable and at home.

The kitchen was generally well equipped and had almost everything you need. However, there was no cooking pot for pasta, potatoes or rice, the kitchen scissors were broken, and there was no baking paper available. When we asked at reception for a pot, they brought us another pan, which wasn’t helpful. We were told that there simply wasn’t a pot available, and the lady at reception didn’t seem particularly interested when we mentioned it again at check-out. Breakfast in Hotel could have been a bit more generous and of higher quality – some fresh fried eggs, omelettes, or options for children would have been great. Fresh fruit would also have been appreciated. The washing machine in the small utility area under the stairs was dirty and had a bad smell. The high chair was also quite unstable and almost fell apart. Families with small children should take care, as there is a long and fairly high staircase in the house without any safety gate. This could be dangerous for toddlers.

Absolutely brilliant!

Everything was amazing - we travelled for a charity climb, with a real mix of people and the whole group was hugely impressed. The staff were super patient and attentive, and the view from the lodges is spectacular and lodges are incredibly sound proof! Highly recommend a wander down to the lake after dark for a beautiful view of the stars... we also took a dip in the loch from the jetty! Fab weekend enjoyed by all, and the value for money here compared to hotels in the area is fantastic! We will be back :)

The only comment I have here is having a few more mugs in the lodge for those not using the dishwasher frequently on short stays - but if that's the only thing, Whispering Pines are doing a brilliant job. We wish we were there for longer.

Black Sheep knows how to deliver the ultimate vacation experience!

I've got to say that this was probably my favorite place to stay while traveling in Scotland. The location is magical - I think I saw a fairy! The accommodations were 10+ - clean and spacious with all the comforts you could ask for. The staff was so helpful and accommodating and the restaurant was awesome. Management went out of their way to fulfill our requests (room service) and a staff member even chased after me to return my cell phone that I left in the restaurant.

Beautiful setting, eclectic service

Self-catering chalet with beautiful views over the Loch. Great little beach to skim stones and cabin with games for the kids.

Eclectic decor (odd pictures and mismatched theme) and off-putting signs made you feel less welcome. We had a leaking roof which was fixed fast but had clearly been there a while (damaged wood on balcony). Communications through Booking.com not recieved (so no bookings for breakfast or dinners) and I'd asked for a cmp bed for my son which was acknowledged but then informed on site they thought i was bringing my own and could not fulfil!!! (How could someone bring their own camp bed?!?!?)

Great service, stunning location but restaurant is rather expensive

Views spectacular and cabins were clean and comfortable. Service was very good and it’s an amazing location. We enjoyed the stay and would comeback.

10am checkout is a bit early for a self-catered cabin, also information in the cabins states checkout is 11am (which appears to be incorrect) so assume this has been brought forward. Restaurant was nice but as other reviews mentioned, quite pricey for dinner. £15 for the prawn cocktail starter, £72 lobster and £7.50 for a pint of tennants being the ones that stood out. Be nice to have some a la carte options for breakfast, poached eggs or an omelette and the juice dispensers make you feel like the Orange juice is being rationed. Small things but worth addressing.

Great place to stay.

Overall a great place to stay. I wish we stayed there for more than one day. Great location, spacious and well kept room. Had all the facilities both inside the room and outside. Good breakfast. Courteous staff.

There was roadworks on the approach road. We had called them a few times to check on few things and no one mentioned about the road works. So we had to wait for a hour before the convey allowed us in and we were just 400 m from that hotel. If they had been proactive it emailing or messaging or telling us when we called, we would have planned our journey better and not waste time.

This place has an unbeatable location — perfect for a day trip to the Isle of Skye with an easy return. The cabin views were truly breathtaking, likely the best in the region.

Absolutely magical

An absolutely stunning property on one of the most beautiful lochs we’ve ever seen. Everything was perfect—immaculately clean, stylishly decorated, and so comfortable. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, and the restaurant was a real highlight—especially the Indian dishes, which were delicious. Sipping cocktails on the deck with that view felt magical. I’d return in a heartbeat and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area. You really can’t go wrong.

Whispering Pine Lodge ideal getaway for summer

Hotel Black Sheep (Loch Lochy) Whispering Pine Lodge at Spean Bridge We had a fantastic stay at Hotel Black Sheep, located right on the serene shores of Loch Lochy. The uninterrupted view of the loch was absolutely breathtaking, making for a peaceful and picturesque retreat. The hotel’s heating system was excellent, keeping us warm and comfortable throughout our stay. The food was another highlight—delicious meals, great pizza, and the complimentary high tea was an unexpected but delightful surprise! The location was ideal, with easy access to Loch Ness and Fort William, making it a perfect base for exploring the Highlands. We stayed in a spacious apartment lodge, which was exceptionally well-appointed. The rooms were large, the shower was great, and the bed was one of the best we've ever had—firm and supportive, unlike the overly soft springy mattresses we usually find in hotels. The furnishings were luxurious, with high-thread-count linens adding to the comfort. Overall, Hotel Black Sheep exceeded our expectations in every way. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a relaxing and indulgent Highland getaway!

Exceptional with lovely warm welcome from all staff

Property was spacious, immaculately clean and exactly what our group were looking for. Well equipped kitchen and lovely touches left in bathroom in way of toiletries. All of the staff were very helpful and couldn’t make us feel more welcome. Breakfast was lovely with a very good food selection. Added bonus was the complimentary afternoon tea on arrival
