Better than expected, decent standard at a cheap price, friendly helpful staff too

cheap hotel, but much better than previous ones we've stay at in Gloucester when up for the Rugby. Decent location, and not too expensive car park a few mins walk. All in all very happy, and will be our hotel choice for future trips when visiting

Basic hotel ideal if you just need a base for a few nights.

Ideally situated for anyone travelling by public transport as the bus and train stations were just a few minutes walk away. Rooms were spacious, clean with comfortable beds and good showers. This is all you really need from a hotel room. Should they be required there was a fridge, microwave plates and cutlery and kettle etc in the room. It was easy to explore the city centre from the hotel.

Would not suit anyone looking for luxury as facilities were basic although this wasn’t a concern for our visit.

I was looking for a cheap overnight stay which was close to the Transport Hub and it was exactly that.

Central location easy walking distance to Coach station. Bed comfortable.

Bathroom very clean. The bedding was also very clean.

The mattress and pillows were all overdue for a replacement or upgrading. The carpet needed to be cleaned and the walls were grubby by the bed and some other places also needed to be cleaned.

Staying at Central Hotel was fantastic. It definitely met my expectations. It was very clean, comfortable and a great place to stay whether for 1 night or 1 month. Will definitely revisit when I need to.

A good base for visiting the city of Gloucester.

The location was excellent as far as being a short distance from the cathedral and Guildhall where I was going to spend my day and evening. The ability to use a microwave and the use of plates etc was very helpful.

The wall behind and to the side of the bed had unpleasant looking splash marks. Otherwise the room was clean. The main issue for me was the noise level from the streets below on the Friday night. I suggest people take ear plugs or the hotel provides them. Hotels in Costa Rica do this on account of the wildlife's early morning serenade and the torrential rain. I got little sleep on the Friday night as some of the population of Gloucester had a night out. One of the recommend car parks was very close but unfortunately the ticket machines were out of order and it was necessary to download an app. That was a hassle. It was also off putting as a solo female traveler that some of the homeless of Gloucester were using part of the car park as a base.

You get what you pay for. But this was poor.

It's cheap.

Fire alarms kept going off. Apparently a fault. There was no hot water. Apparently a fault that they couldn't get someone to fix before I was leaving. The lift was also out of order.

Budget hotel

The hotel was ideally placed for exploring the city. Plenty of paid car parking nearby.

Bed was too hard and extremely uncomfortable. Would have been more comfortable sleeping on the floor. Pillows were flat and non existent. The fitted sheets did not fit and came off mattress as soon as you sat on the bed. There was an evacuation at 05:00 because of fire alarm which lasted around 15 minutes. The 'night porter' appeared confused in what to do and eventually deactivated the alarm. Guests returned to their rooms with an 'all clear' or ant kind of explanation.

Sadly the centre of Gloucester is really run down and in need of rejuvenation. We were very disappointed. We did enjoy Gloucester Quays however and are likely to visit that area again.

The location is very good for all transport services. The provision of a fridge and microwave allowed limited self catering. Very good shower in bathroom.

The beds are comfortable, but low to the floor, which for us, made it difficult to get up out of them.

Very pleasantly surprised by the generous room size and the extra useful facilities such as microwave and good-sized fridge. Great location for exploring Gloucester on foot. Powerful and good size shower. Would definitely stay again.

The hair dryer was underpowered, a good hairdryer would have given this hotel a '10'.

Reception staffed, very pleasantly., large, comfortable room. Fridge, and kettle. Good shower, en suite. Very good central location, as per the name.

Pillows were not great, and no streaming services on TV (although this is perhaps a little too much to expect, given the reasonable cost of the room).

The location and price were good but needs a refresh and I had a terrible sleep both nights.

Thin walls meant all noise travelled. Towels were frayed, stained and some even holey. Uncomfortable bed with too small fitted sheet that wouldn’t stay on.

Convenient location, but let down by safety and maintenance issues.

The location is really convenient—just a 5-minute walk to the train station and high street. That said, the area can feel a bit rough at times, especially in the evenings, and there does seem to be a noticeable presence of drug users, which might make some people feel uneasy.

The carpet is quite dirty, the shower temperature is hard to adjust, and the bed frame is broken. The outside of the mini fridge is also damaged.

Look elsewhere

The fire alarm went off multiple times throughout the night and early morning (12:30am, 3am, 6am, 8am, and 8:15am). There was no clear explanation or apology from staff — I only found out from overhearing another guest that the alarm was likely faulty. We booked this stay solely to rest, but we were kept awake all night. Instead of a refund, I was offered credit, however I’ve made it clear I have no intention of returning, yet my request for a refund has been completely dismissed. I also asked twice for my complaint to be escalated and was ignored. This is not how guests should be treated, and it’s certainly not how a hospitality business should handle genuine concerns. If you’re looking for a peaceful, respectful stay — look elsewhere.

Booked a different hotel for my work visit this week. Won't go again

The staff were nice and helpful.

The fire alarm kept going off during the night, so staff kept coming in to my room. This went off at least 5 times during one night. The wifi did not work in my room on the 3rd floor. When I called up prior to my visit I was told that there was parking onsite however this was not the case.

Cheap, convenient and clean. The reception staff were very helpful.
