Comfortable if fairly basic hotel with decent restaurant.

Comfortable newly refurbished room ( 202), good dinner in the restaurant - on a Sunday night in December. Overall good value and easy parking in the street. Great views over the Sancerre countryside which we didn’t see due to thick fog.

I asked for a room with a bath as advertised, but the new rooms only have showers. We looked at the older rooms and said no thanks. The place is a bit chaotic but the staff were friendly so all was well.

The location and the view. The restaurant was surprisingly good.

Staff were somewhat off hand, and tried to charge for a breakfast we didn’t have.

Good location and just hope you don't get a bad room

The terrace of the hotel provided a very pleasant outdoor dining ambience. The host and staff did their best to provide a good service.

The location of the double room was very prone to noise from the traffic as it faced a 3-cornered junction. The bed was very bad for the back. All in all, we didn't have much rest for the night.

The hotel looks run-down, with seemingly little effort from the owners to improve this. On the porch in front of the hotel there are many people smoking, and the smell penetrates the rooms, forcing you to shut down the windows. Bathroom of poor quality, with a handheld showerhose inside a bathtub; it took several minutes to get warm water. Breakfast looked poor, with brown fruit

Good location close to the restaurants in the town and nice outside view from the hotel located on the hill. Big screen TV sets up in the room. High speed WIFI is connected.

The central heating turned off in spite of it was a little cold in the night. Bus from hotel to Bourges didn't come to the bus station in front of hotel.

A night in Sancerre

parking in September was great and location was good

The room was freezing, WiFi wouldn't work in our room. Confusion over booking but it was sorted. wouldn't go again, wasn't asked about breakfast so wasn't bothered we didn't have it, just wanted to warm up somewhere!

Excellent food, great location.

The restaurant was at least as good as the reviews I'd seen, most of which rated it very highly. It was the reason I decided to stay at L'Hotel de Remparts (or du Rempart/s depending which sign you look at!). The best proper meal I had during my 2 weeks travelling around France, in fact, and at a good price. The location is good with views over the vineyards and a very short walk into the ancient town.

The decor looks overdue for refreshment. The plumbing & electrical systems don't seem 100% reliable (switches that turn lights on/off sometimes but not others, and the water cut off for 1/2 hour, then back on). Hopefully the building work going on next door will soon be finished and will enable the old part of the hotel to be renovated. It's a nice place anyway, and these minor issues wouldn't stop me staying there again.

Loved the location with amazing view of vineyards. The food in the restaurant was fantastic and excellent value for money. We had some lovely local white wine and were able to visit the producer and buy some the next day.

There was a good view of the surrounding countryside - hotel was central to town and restaurants etc.

Whilst cheap and cheerful - unfortunately it was possible to hear other guests moving around (circa 1am to 2am) and hear their television for ages

Great for Sancerre on a bit of a budget; and the overall quality is better than budget.

We've eaten in the restaurant here many times - bistro style, good value and (of course) good local wines and local specials. The accomodation is at the budget end for Sancerre but is perfectly comfortable and suited us very well. The views of the countryside from the front bedroom windows are amongst the best you will find anywhere! Parking is easy in the street near the hotel. Easy to explore Sancerre from here.

Not a lot - you are in three star territory not five but, wth the moey saved. you can throw a case of Sancerre in the car and head off laughing!

location location location and an excellent restaurant. The dining area has undergone a make over and with quality food it’s a great place to eat.

The bedrooms and bathrooms are very tired and badly in need of renovation! Down stairs there is bar/discotheque still playing 70s music that they always have but expect noise from revellers until 3am!

Didn't have breakfast. Wonderful location . We had luck with parking. One of the best things was the restaurant was open late. Very friendly people.

I imagine that parking close by would be a problem in high season.
