Hôtel Restaurant Famille Bourgeois "La Cote des Monts Damnés"

A very warm welcome set the right tone. The room was comfortable and spacious. The bathroom was very well appointed (we appreciated the towelling robes). The dinner was of high quality. A little disappointed that the bar did not stock non-alcoholic beer. The location was picturesque and interesting, in the middle of the Sancerre vineyard.

Parking, on thé village street, was a bit haphasard. We got there early and managed to park opposite the hotel, but that facility is limited and not available to all.

Large, beautifully appointed room with everything needed for a comfortable stay. Quiet location in the village of Chavignol surrounded by the vineyards of Sancerrre.

Breakfast quite limited in choice, no additional coffee offered after the first cup was served.

A lovely and unpretentious hotel in Chavignol. Bedroom and bathroom were both large and clean, and the bed was very comfortable. The staff were very good throughout from reception to the bar, restaurant and breakfast. The standout of this hotel was the exceptional cuisine. The menu choice is limited to fish or meat but the quality and presentation were absolutely fantastic, and superb value. The hotel also offers complementary wine tasting in their own cellar, which has a very extensive selection of fine local wines.

There were a few creaks and groans from the bar or kitchen equipment below our bedroom during the night, but I am a very light sleeper. Most normal people probably wouldn’t even notice.

Not being shown the room properly or that the bed was up a flight of stairs. The mirror for the bedroom was at the top of stairs and not easy to use. I have stayed at the hotel a number of times, but the person on the desk did not seem to understand that as we are now in our 80s, we cannot clamber around on internal staircase.
