We had a wonderful time, the cottage had beautiful views and a lovely deck

The mattress on the bed is a bit tired. Our only suggestion for improvement would be to replace the mattress.

Lovely place to stay

The accommodation was comfortable if slightly dated. The kitchen was well equipped as was the apartment in general. The accommodation was clean and the view was beautiful from all rooms.

Unannounced visits from the owner which felt a little intrusive, although we all feel he was probably a little bit lonely.

Perfect holiday accommodation

We loved everything about this delightful home away from home. It was SO roomy and comfortable with everything we needed to make our 4 day stay enjoyable. The bed was very comfortable as well. The view was so beautiful it was hard to leave. The area of Paihai is enchanting. Our hosts John and Ruth were very friendly and helpful.

Wish we had known the extra cost paid at the time of departure. Was told $50 , and then at time of leaving it was $50 per night?!?! My son is only 2!

Our family would go back here in a heartbeat, and we will recommend Allure Lodge to all.

The apartment was fantastic for our family of 4 adults, 2 children and a baby (3 generations). In my mind I expected 2 double bedrooms and a room with a couple of single beds so the sleeping arrangements had to change to having a child sleep with both adult couples. It was incredibly clean, and definitely a home away from home. The hosts had thought of every last detail to make it comfortable. Having the path through the garden made the walk into town really easy. Our hosts were so lovely, offering to help unload and load our vehicles, and allowing us to stay beyond the check out time if we needed to. Fantastic!

We had some terrible weather which necessitated keeping the kids occupied. We had DVD's and there was access to Netflix but the TV remote was not working 100% so it was very difficult to use - in spite of a battery change. The only other downside was the shower, which could use some work. The sliding handle was fixed in place with a rubber band (great ingenuity) but we really needed it to slide properly with little kids, and the shower base felt a bit unstable.

The guest sitting out area, the overall facilities, the friendliness of our hosts and the convenience to all the attractions.

We tried the Tv but obviously didn't use the remote correctly. However, that did not detract from our overall experience

for winter time more options to hang clothes needed. in particular we had a rainy time in Paihia and it was difficult to get clothes dried well w/o using the tumble dryer. a laundry basket for moving the laundry would be a helpful tool for doing the laundry.

3rd bedroom was extremely pokey and couldn’t fit a suitcase in. A hot room which needed the portable fan on all night. Air conditioning or overhead fans are needed. Gurgling coming from bathroom all night needs looking at.

Alluring view and interior

The cottage sits in its eyrie above Paihia with a great view of the town, the wharf area, and the Waitangi Treaty grounds and the Bay of Islands coastline. Ruth and John make sure you will have the best time I Paihia from the moment you book the cottage. They live next door if you need anything. It is a warm retreat with everything you could need in a two bedroom home. Great kitchen and comfortable lounge area. The main bedroom has a huge closet and great, comfy king size bed. John came for a visit every evening to check how our day had been and to talk of places to go and people to meet. There are a number of cafes, restaurants and bars in the town if you aren't of a mind or mood to cook. I can recommend Zane Greys bar on the pier (not the restaurant) for drinks and dinner after returning from a cruise in the bay or a coach trip to the Cape. John runs a great website that you should check out for hints and tips.

A washing machine would be a great addition. The parking area for our little car was fine, but it may be a little tight for a big 4WD.

We were in the two bedroom cottage, across a courtyard from the main house. We had a private deck with great views over Paihia. The cottage was comfortably furnished and well equipped. It was up the hill, away from any town noise.

Access to a washing machine and dryer would have been welcome.
