Good for what we required

Just one night here arrived early evening and left early morning so did not see what was around the area as it was dark outside Staff were nice easy check-in. Ate in the bar, ordered pizza (clearly frozen and heated up), very basic food Room was clean, very basic facilities (heating was on full blast and not really able to turn it down) It did the job for one night

Conveniently located for a short stay

Located in not too far from the town centre, the hotel is in a good location. Our room was basic and had most things we needed and was comfortable. It would have been good to have sockets next to the bed but that is minor complaint. We were cold that night and the staff brought an extra blanket to our room.

The convenience of the location was ideal for meeting up with family. The room was clean and comfortable

No toiletries in the bathroom even though there is photos of a small shower gel and shampoo on the website. For this reason I didn't bring my own, we had to bathe with the tiny bar of hand soap

Pleasant stay for an overnight theatre visit.

All went well. The hotel is good value for money. The staff were welcoming and helpful. The breakfast was good. The room was a bit inconvenient- no bedside tables nor mains sockets-but considering the very reasonable price overall it was satisfactory. The Hotel is conveniently located for the New Vic Theatre.

See comment on room above. Also, a lift to the upper floors would have been welcome.

Disappointing.

Free Parking, easy access to the university campus we had to travel to each day.

Generally not up to cleanliness standards, food was lacklustre, beds were not comfortable, bathroom smelled odd.

Good value for money with friendly helpful staff.

The staff were all friendly and very helpful. We used the restaurant for dinner and was very pleased with the service and the quality of the food from what appeared to be a basic menu but with enough diversity for all tastes. Breakfast was offered but regrettably we needed to make an early start. Parking was readily available on site with no issues for parking.

The hotel was good value for money and whilst not close to the venue we were visiting it was close enough to reach by taxi and the hotel provided this arrangement. On our return we used Uber that were readily available albeit a little while after the event had finished. The rooms were basic but functional with all our needs being met.

An exceptionally good, old world hotel of the kind one misses. ALL the staff were pleasant and polite, the room was immaculate, the bed comfy, the water hot, the windows open, the food is good, the ambience spot on.

Comfort galore.

Now stayed here three, maybe four, times in as many months and can't praise it enough. Judging from some reactions elsewhere not everyone appreciates hotels as they used to be. This is a very traditional hotel of the kind we, and hopefully others, go out of our way for. There's no corporate identity to trip over, no harsh lighting, no mean announcements about paying for wifi, no one-size fits all mentality and the staff are welcoming without being obsequious. Well done - long may you last

Advertised 30 m², reality under 10 m² – unsafe & overpriced and misleading information.

I was disappointed with my stay here. The room was advertised on Booking.com as a 30 m² double room with a bathtub, but in reality, it was nowhere near that size — the entire room (including the bathroom) was under 10 m². Instead of a bathtub, there was only a very tiny shower room where it was almost impossible to move between the toilet, sink, and shower. I booked at £51.69, but the hotel charged me £56.18. When I questioned this at reception, the lady showed me the invoice and told me there was nothing she could do — that I had to sort it out with Booking.com. The bathroom was unsafe: the electrical radiator was unstable and wobbly (a hazard in a wet area), and the shower took 10–15 minutes of running dangerously hot water before it became usable. The room itself (No. 29) was uncomfortable: located on the top (third) floor, with no lift and only access via multiple narrow corridors and flights of stairs. At night, the room was noisy due to the busy street outside. There was no cooling fan, and the room was so cramped that the desk could barely fit a laptop — I even had to move the TV aside to use it. Overall, misleading advertising, overcharging, unsafe conditions, and poor comfort. 👉 But if you’re alright with all that, then this is the perfect place for you to stay.

Suited our needs for a 1 night stay, bathroom smelt clean. Bed was reasonably comfortable. Team were friendly. Parking, although busy we managed to get a spot. We would stay again.

Road next to it is busy and a bit noisy in the morning. The hotel is nothing fancy but you get what you pay for.

I stayed here for several hours after check-in but decided to leave in the evening instead of staying overnight. Personally, I found the lady at reception rude and unprofessional, which made the whole stay unpleasant. I felt the bed was uncomfortable, and the whole room felt run-down. Even for a budget option, I didn’t find it to be good value for money.

As a diisabled person access to the room is important. But there are no parking restrictions preventing a car parking right up against steps to the upper floor, where my room was. It made access difficult and indeed dangerous as I risked falling.
