Excellent!

This is really a wonderful hotel with special features. It does offer the period characteristics and makes one experience the living in a castle. Meanwhile, it has all the necessary modern facilities, with a high hygienity standard. Comfortable bed, superb breakfast, kind people, decent peer guests, nice decor and convenient parking. We will be happy to visit again in the future.

To be fair, this is not really the problem of the hotel, but can be a point for major improvement. The hotel seems to have a formal schedule about check-in which is rather early for travelers coming from far. I contacted the hotel well in advance to ask for check in at 9pm, which was kindly agreed by them and I appreciated that. On the day, due to many unexpected traffic conditions along the way driving from the Netherland, we could only arrive at 10:15pm, and we told this to the hotel by phone. The staff was kind enough to wait for us until then, which again we thanked for. However, obviously the staff was unhappy about that, which was totally understandable. I am sure we were not the only case. I would strongly suggest the hotel install a safe lock system to store the keys and allow the guests to do late check in, which is a common practice nowadays in the profession.

Historic stay with all needed comforts

Lots of character, comfortable bed, superb breakfast, lovely wellness area. Cozy lounge to have a drink where complimentary treats are available. Beautiful area for hiking. Will definitely return.

A magnificent stay in three century old building, living in historical settings

Perfect hostess. Petra was the most pleasant and friendly person who accommodated all our wishes even hot chocolate in the morning and French cake evening. And the most delightful assortment of drinks and cakes imaginable.

I have been in many hotels in different countries but this was incredible without anything which wasn't perfect. It was a truly comforting experience. Breakfast was fine with the most incredible rice pudding and birchli musli.

Relaxing holiday at a great base to explore the surrounding area.

Authentic environment, lots of details and small collections on display. Great breakfast, special care with a 'Känchen Filterkaffee' :-). Enjoyed the spa and swimming pool after a day of walking and sightseeing.

A luxurious environment welcomes you to a fun retreat in Nature.

Breakfast was exceptionally inviting and offered everything anyone could want. What an amazing spread, variety and selections. The rooms were spacious, clean and even romantic with its Decor. The bathroom was modern and welcoming as well. The pool was too cold to enjoy thanks to the energy crisis; slip on shoes for the pool and sauna area were not available as advertised in the hotel brochure but everything else was simply terrific! Thank you!

the hotel is very beautiful, it’s near 3 lakes in the middle of trees. the breakfast also was good.

we found some hair on a towel in the bathroom and there were two beds put closed, with also two different covers.

Beautiful and characterful hotel close to the centre of Daun, with magnificent rooms and sumptuous breakfast, easy parking and very helpful staff.

Nothing much. Wifi could have been stronger and it will be nice when the restaurant opens up again - although there are several other restaurants close by.

Very kind owner, interiour fits with the fact it is a castle and the environment. Very clean, also the spa. Can recommend this hotel.

The hotel had a very, very good restaurant, but it unfortunatly closed because it got too expensive due to the energy crisis and the covid restrictions. I hope the restaurant returns. But there are good alternatives in the neighbourhood at walking distance.

Very pleasant stay, great surroundings, excellent breakfast. Well worth it.

A bit of “gone by glory” though rooms are renovated and so is the wellness area which had a pleasant ambiance.

The pool was too cold and the steam sauna did not work. Unfortunately wellness treatments as advertised on website were not available either. (aftermath of Corona…)

Beautiful surroundings and excellent dining. The bed was slightly uncomfortable. The room was otherwise warm and amenable. The pool and spa facilities were nice, but the pool wasnt heated.

Slightly uncomfortable bed with nonsupportive down pillows. I'd suggest bringing your own pillow.
