I liked the hotel, but I have a problem that they haven't responded to.

I had a problem with this hotel and they haven't responded. I paid for breakfast, but when I went to check in, they refused, saying I didn't buy it, even though I have all the receipts. I've traveled to 32 countries with Booking.com and this is the first time this has happened. The hotel is great, I really enjoyed it. Unfortunately, this problem led me to give it the only low rating I've ever given a hotel. I spoke with the team in person and they don't recognize it; I'm waiting for a response from online support and haven't received one.

Courtyard is an excellent place to stay especially when you visit Scotland as a tourist. Everything is on point.

The first staff to check me in delayed me and asked me to make payment meanwhile I had already paid online through booking.com. I sat outside for about 20-30 minutes before we could confirm payment then she handed over keys to me. But the place was too good so I forgot that situation immediately I entered my room.

Accomodating staff, they let us have a 1hr late checkout, nice area, rooms were good size, the hotel looked nice, breakfast was ok

Wifi was slow, room had a damp smell on 2nd day, assuming its from the AC system, toilet door doesn't gove enough privacy, somewhat like a shower door (glass)

Disappointing but fine

The breakfast was okay, the room was a good size and the hotel was generally quiet through the night

Our sink was blocked and it still hadn’t been fixed when we left, breakfast was oversold so we had to sit on the sofas in the foyer to eat and there was no room service despite being advertised as having it. The bar and food were also quite expensive for the quality and quantity of food.

Check out is 12.00 noon. Twice we had men banging on the door. One was a window cleaner who actually entered the room around 10.30 and the other came 10 minutes later and asked when we intended to check out. We were not impressed. Shouldn’t happen and was alarming.

The room itself was pleasant while our stay at the Marriott was deeply disappointing due to poor service standards, inadequate housekeeping, mismanaged breakfast service, and inconsistent treatment from staff.

The breakfast experience was disappointing. Food items were not being replenished promptly despite the large number of guests, resulting in excessive wait times. Bread slices were unavailable, croissants had run out, and replacements took far too long to arrive. At 9:45 AM, when we requested additional vegetarian options, the staff simply responded, "Breakfast time is ending now—sorry." This was unacceptable. Given the premium price paid, guests should expect all items to be consistently replenished and available until the stated 10:00 AM closing time. Additionally, our room was inadequately cleaned—only the beds were made, with the rest of the room neglected. The dining options were extremely limited. Staff failed to inform us when the food counter was closing. We had only ordered starters, and when we tried to order more food later (as we were still hungry), we were told the kitchen had closed. However, we observed other guests receiving dessert after this supposed closing time—served by a staff member who appeared to show favoritism to guests speaking the same regional language. Yet when we requested croissants before the breakfast service ended, we were told that "breakfast time was going to be over." This inconsistent service and apparent preferential treatment was extremely frustrating for the rates charged at the Marriott.

It was very enjoyable and I'd recommend the hotel to anyone visiting Edinburgh.

The location was close enough to the City centre and easily accessible by bus. I really enjoyed the breakfast.

Excellent customer service and comfortable stay

The hotel was nice, it had everything we needed for a short stay in Edinburgh. We had dinner at the restaurant both nights and was served by Sujan, who made us feel welcome and created an even better experience for us. He was attentive and excellent at customer service. The rooms were also very spacious, and the area was nice and quiet.

The doors for the bathrooms in the room were translucent, and didnt feel like there was much privacy. Otherwise everything was great.

The wife didn’t like the frosted bathroom door, it wasn’t flush to the frame and she felt uncomfortable. Stains on carpet and walls, stylish room just a bit tired and needed a deep clean/refinish. Wi-Fi was difficult to use, even the staff struggled to get me connected. The tv was limited and had no cast option.

The room was clean, giant bathroom, panoramic windows and a scenic view

The room was large and tidy, but for €500 a night, I expected much more. The basic amenities were lacking: the shower had no water pressure, there was no complimentary water or Nespresso machine, and the TV system was very poor. The hotel also lacked standard facilities like a gym, pool, or even proper room service and a restaurant. The breakfast was served in a small area near the reception and was extremely humble. Overall, it felt more like an expensive hostel stay than a hotel.
