Convenient location but rather expensive for the rather disappointing room

The best thing about this hotel is the location.

Both the sink and toilet dripped constantly also the hot water tap came off in our hands when trying to turn it on.We told reception staff about this and were told they would fix it but they never did. There were large mirrors in the room that had marks all over them and the overall decor was outdated.

A gem in the heart of Oxford

The staff were so helpful, kind and polite. The beds were comfortable, the rooms were a good size. Its location was central. There is little parking in Oxford so we did 'Park and Ride' from Peartree. It was perfect as the bus stopped right outside the hotel.

I can't say, there was anything that didn't please me about this hotel.

Nothing really. Property does not look as advertised on pictures.

Entrance was ugly and you can see there’s some sort of refurbishment going on. Room was outdated with stained walls and mirrors. I feel disappointed as this spoiled my anniversary! Told the receptionist and he said that I should have mentioned it was my anniversary so I’d been given a better room. Still nothing was offered in the end. Dreadful.

Great location but not a 5*

Amazing location in reach of all Oxford’s main attractions. The property is advertised as a 5* but it is more a high 3. We paid £669 for 2 nights and it was not worth this price. The room was nice but not amazing and is dated. The staff were lovely and helpful. No restaurant or bar.

Average hotel at a premium price, we would not rebook.

Location was central although the street was exceptionally noisy on a Friday night.

Room was very small and cold, we had to call reception to have them turn on the heating. It looked nothing like the pictures. Aircon did not work, it was locked out. Bedside lights didn’t work, the lights under the mirror had a dim bulb so my wife couldn’t see to do her makeup. Sink didn’t drain properly, plug was broken. It felt like the maintenance was minimal and the attention to detail poor.

Would stay again, nice to have a room and concierge but not have to worry about breakfast in full hotel style setting.

The GSH is very central and comfortable. The bathrooms and toiletries quality. The staff very helpful, beds clean and comfortable, the rooms lovely decorated The sunrise stayed in our room so balcony a lovely bonus and to be able to open the doors.

The lighting in our suite was plentiful but did cut out when trying to put in all lights!

4* hotel with 5* prices.

Very central. We had a top floor room, so had no street noise.

Not really a 5* hotel. The reception was cramped. Staff left cleaning trollies in reception, which was already cramped. Rooms are ok, but things like plastic cups rather than classes in the bathroom don't give the feel of luxury. No Concierge that I could see (there was only 1 member of staff in the reception). Lots of things had stickers on. In the lift, rather than a nice board explaining things, there are stickers on the buttons. Nothing is wrong with the hotel, just not 5* class.

Perfect location to drop off luggage and explore etc but cost a lot so felt disappointed

The best thing about the hotel is the location. Close to train station and in one of the main streets. The staff were also welcoming and friendly.

No way is it a 5 star hotel, more 3 I would say. The place is dated, our room was very old fashioned, the bathroom sliding door didn’t close, the make up light in the bathroom didn’t work, the blind at the window was broken and there’s no lobby or bar or restaurant, just a small weird door off the street and rooms then off corridors on 4 levels. Very underwhelming on arrival. Looks ok outside.

Amazing stay!

What a fantastic staff! They were so lovely and helpful! The room was clean and cosy! Walked there from the station in less than 10 minutes, really central and close to lots of places where you can have great food!

Rooms need updating

Location was great

Very tired decor and worn out carpet in room. Poor heating. Also had a phishing episode from an Indian telephone number on WhatsApp that had my mobile and asked for 550 Euros or I would lose my booking for this night. It was sent the day before the stay. They had all my details of the booking. Is booking.com compromised? Or the hotel. Staff at hotel were lovely

Staff were very nice, central location and welcoming but this is just not a £250+ a night quality hotel.

Photos and price gave an impression of classy luxury which was just not the reality, which was more faux Edwardian gilt. Pokey entrance behind the bus queues and outside drinkers on George Street and up in a lift to a cramped lobby. Our room was comfortable enough but just 1 floor above the street and facing the late night noise, so windows had to stay closed.

Appalling. The first hotel to have cameras to watch their guests enjoy their private terrace!! I left and did not stay.

I left after two hours. Avoid this place like the plague! They have cameras and watch you on your balcony. I covered the camera and they called. 1st saying the camera points outside. Then they came to my room and admitted they check for “bad behaviour”. Thank goodness, neither I nor my partner were fully dressed! Thank goodness my 15 year old daughter wasn’t in that room (maybe getting dressed, or in underwear). An absolute disgrace of a place! And then not only did the staff lie about the view of the camera and the purpose of the camera they didn’t offer another room! I can’t believe this is legal! I can’t believe they lied and I’m not convinced the camera did or does not capture a view (however small) into the actual room!

Quaint hotel in a great location with a lovely and warm staff.

Location was great, and so was staff. They were really nice and accommodating. The hotel itself was quaint. And we loved our larger room with balcony. The city view was great!

Housekeeping kept providing towel service for only two people, and three of us were in the room. We had to call reception regularly to ask for more towels until we asked that they make a note that there were three of us and not two.
