The hotel was beautifully stylish and redolent of history, and it enjoys a privileged view of the largest private garden in Europe. All the rooms feature the luxury of standing bathtubs in the sleeping area, if you can imagine! Breakfast is of high quality and more than ample, and snacks (including fresh fruit) remain available 24 hours a day. Both breakfast and aperitifs can be enjoyed on the beautiful wraparound terrace overlooking the garden. Finally, the staff were incredibly helpful, making recommendations and reserving wonderful small restaurants for us. I'm not sure we would return to Florence (as great as it is!) if this hotel didn't have room for us!
I'm struggling to come up with something, and all I can think of is that the toiletries could have been a little higher- end--I think the hotel's estimation of C. O. Bigelow must be higher than mine, as I've found their products at the dollar store, lol.

We like the unique character and homely atmosphere. It does not feel like a hotel. We love the property and the fact that it is in a garden. It's wonderfully quiet.
Not all of the rooms are as good as each other. Our previous stay was in a nicer room. This time we stayed in one of the cottage rooms. While we enjoyed its location in the gardens, the room was in deep shade, had no view or direct sunshine, and was cold. The curtains were decorative and did not close across the window so we could not leave the windows and shutters open at night.
In addition the floor boards creaked a lot and the extractor fan in the bathroom was very noisy!
