Corncroft Guest House

It was centrally based, not too far a walk in to town. The place was clean and tidy.

There were some areas were cleaning could be improved, mostly in the shower, like the grout in the tiles and the shower head.

Excellent breakfast and very pleasant stay.

Being at the very top of the house too many stairs loved the beams but when your husband is 6ft 3 bang his head a few times

More variety in the breakfast eg perhaps some muesli,plant milks eg

Not easy to park don’t know if the milk in the room was off tea had a very strange taste. Only saw the owner once so couldn’t ask. Not sure how to. Also don’t think a piece of net curtains pined to the window was very professional

Room was generally nice and clean.

The shower was not working properly, very bad water pressure and temperature stuck on very hot. One of the button operated windows didn't work, so I couldn't open/close one window/blind. The mattress was the biggest issue, I was in a double bed and one side was in awful condition, completed concave and obvious not replaced for a very long time, I did not sleep well.

The host was very accommodating to our needs as we were travelling and would be late checking in.

The location was only 10 minutes from the farmers dog restaurant and around 15 mins to local shopping centres.

The property advertised breakfast as included in the price & the info for breakfast times was displayed on the wall of our room but when we went to go to breakfast it was empty with no staff at all so we messaged the property via booking.com and were told there was no breakfast at all at weekends. There is a very small cafe down the street with only about 5 tables inside so we ate there instead. Despite advertising “ample street parking” when we arrived outside there was only parking permit holders spaces and where you could park along the street there were no spaces all weekend, we had to instead park away from the property and walk about 7/8 minutes from a residential street where again there were hardly any spaces. We had no offer of help with our luggage from the one member of staff we saw all weekend. The room itself was extremely dated and very tatty. This wouldn’t have been a problem if it weren’t for it being filthy. The chair that was in our room had the leather peeling off all over it and had two cushions just thrown on it to try to hide the damage, the ceiling had been wallpapered but it was peeling off the ceiling, the walls had dirty black smears all over them, the bed sheet had black stains on when we pulled the covers back to get into bed, there was a thick layer of dust covering most surfaces, the window voile was held up with plastic drawing pins and the bathroom looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in weeks. The bath was grimy and had hairs in it, the door had brown stains on it, the bin although having a fresh bag in it was filthy on top and smelly so I had to laugh when I read that the property was apparently “professionally cleaned”. The shower was also grimy, water pressure was poor and the temperature was either scalding hot or freezing cold. Overall this was a massive disappointment to myself & partner and how it received a 4 star rating I’ll never know! Absolutely disgusting and wouldn’t advise anyone to stay here.

Unfortunately there was no breakfast the weekend we booked, however, there are a few good places only couple mins walk away.

The staff were very kind, professional and helpful — we’re still very thankful for them accommodating a special request. The location is great and the rooms were quiet (and the hotel was full!).

We were in one of the top rooms, on a very hot day. Nobody can change the weather, but the small windows did little to alleviate the heat (and we slept with the curtains open to try and cool down). I don’t expect air conditioning, but I had hoped there’d be a fridge in the room to keep bottles of water. The bottles that were kindly provided were very, very warm. I would 100% stay here again, just not in the summer.

We couldn’t figure out how to use one of the showers but I’m certain if we asked, the staff would have helped! They were very accommodating with all of our questions and requests.

The shower a complete joke. Hard to operate to receive a tiny trickle of water from the shower head- it was truly ridiculous! Very difficult parking- but the venue is in central Witney. No breakfast available at the place.

Very welcoming host. Rooms were clean and reasonably well appointed. Excellent central Witney location at a fair price.

Part of being an old building but lots of creaks and movement can be heard from other rooms.

The guy that met us at the property was lovely. He showed us up to the room, explained how the key fobs worked for both our room and the main entrance. He gave us recommendations on what was in the surrounding area and then left us to it to settle in. The room was clean and comfortable. My parents also had a room as part of the booking, and although we had not made the accommodation aware of this before hand (my mistake) they were happy to allocate a ground floor room for them due limited mobility on the stairs.

The night we stayed was a particularly hot and stuffy night, so we were very happy to find the fan that was provided in the wardrobe of both rooms. However, once we had plugged these in we soon found that neither of them actually worked properly. Finding parking nearby was a bit of a nightmare. You can park on the main road outside, and there were plenty of spaces, however you only get 2 hours with no return. This is not a problem if you are arriving from 4pm onward as after 6pm it is free anyway. As we had arrived much earlier, this was not an option for us as we intended to park up and then go about our day. It was suggested that we park in one of the side roads, but there were no spaces to be found. We found ourselves in a multi storey that was not too far away, but parking in there (although free) was only allowed until 9pm. We eventually found a road with space for us to park, but it was then quite a walk back to the accommodation. The sign in our room advised that breakfast was available from 7am - 9am. We went down to the breakfast room at 8am, and although the room was all set out ready for breakfast, there was no-one to be seen. We tried calling the number provided on the booking to ask what was happening, but this just rang out. There was a small selection of cereals and some croissants in the breakfast room, but no milk to go with the cereal, butter to put on the croissants or drinks anywhere so we had to head off without.

Comfy room. Friendly staff. Very central location. Didn’t have breakfast this time but have done previously. Will look to stay again if I need to stay in Witney.

No long mirror - a ver minor detail!

Not clean when i arrived dusty . Bathroom had Mildew . My room was only atended once in 4 nights. .

Breakfast was good. Bed was comfortable.

TV didn't come work. No bath. No parking . Cramped.

The room was spotlessly clean and the bed very comfortable. Breakfast was good. The location was perfect for us. The owner was friendly, helpful and attentive. It was nice to hear him singing in the kitchen as he prepared breakfast!!

The shower pressure wasn't great. Perhaps the pressure was poor as we were at the top of the building. I'd have liked breakfast time to have gone on later as we were on holiday and aren't great at getting up so early, but our host did come and give me a shout so that I wouldn't miss it!

Nick, the housekeeper, was very cheerful and helpful.

The television in Room 2 did not work and the central heating did not come on until later in the day. There was no breakfast menu, only word of mouth.

The central location in Witney was excellent. You could leave the guest house and walk to anywhere in Witney centre. The furnishings within the room are lovely, very grand mahogany wooden furniture. The staff are also very nice, the chap we spoke to was very friendly and welcoming.

So firstly the hotel doesn’t have parking. I’m sure it says they offer parking but they don’t so finding a space in a side street is the only option. We stayed in the very top room which meant it was absolutely melting hot at all times. Opening the windows worked a bit but it was very stuffy. The fan that was included in the room was broken so wasn’t usable sadly. Also the shower we had didn’t run hot water. The man we spoke to about it said it worked on a timer so would only be hot after 4 o’clock? Which turned out to be nonsense as we couldn’t get it hot at any time! I wouldn’t exactly say the room was immaculate either, our sheets were old and discoloured in places.

Central and close to all the pubs and restaurants. Very friendly helpful host and breakfast top class.

Single mattress needs replacing and blind needed for Velux window.

Wry nice and quaint right near the town and the pub opposite was lovely. The Indian restaurant Shaan was excellent. I cannot comment on the staff as I never saw anyone however still had nothing to complain about. We are will to stay there again in the summer.

Did not get breakfast in the morning they have facilities there but no one to serve.
