Kinosaki Yamamotoya

We liked everything about this place. The staff, our actual room, the location, and the hotel’s own onsen. We booked the Japanese style room which has a toilet but no bath/shower. The room also has a decent sized covered balcony with side window/panels that can be opened if you want an open air feel.

Woah this place was cool. We had never stayed at a Ryokan before and wanted to do that as part of our first trip to Japan. Yamamotoya did not disappoint. We splurged and had both breakfast and dinner included for three nights. The food was amazing - basically a super fun and delicious tour of local and traditional Japanese cuisine. The staff was lovely (thank you Rio-san!) and the little onsen they have on site is really peaceful and well appointed. It was very fun to stay in a traditional room with the tatami mats and very comfortable futons. The location is also great, easy walking to all of Kinosaki-Onsen baths, shopping and food. Overall I could not recommend this experience more! Thank you for an excellent and memorable stay.

Centrally located. Wifi was good.

Check-in and check-out process was very rushed and impersonal compared to other Ryokan we have stayed at. No selection of Yukata and Haori - we were simply given the standard set that all guests receive, and we did not think the designs were particularly nice. Room was very dated and could be better maintained. Oddly enough the shower room smelt of pee. We would not recommend this place.
