Old quirky place ideal base for our stay with a great restaurant. Staff lovely

Hard to get the temperature just right, bedroom was really not but bathroom really cold. Bathroom looked modern however water flow really bad so unable to use shower.

The pictures for the rooms on booking.com made it look much nicer. My room was very outdated and many bits of furniture were broken or overly worn.

The room was quaint and the breakfast was amazing

The whole hotel was of a high standard. Rooms beautiful food amazing.

The lights room we stayed in was amazing, second time we’ve stayed, the pub is really really nice, the draught pints are tip top, very family friendly, pet friendly, and really inviting, We stayed on New Years Eve this time and owners Warren & Elinor were so inviting and allowed us to join in on their celebrations, we absolutely loved it and they really gave us a different new year as it was the first time either of us have stayed away together for New Year outside of our normal traditional spend time with Family routine, these two really were class and we wont forget them, we will talk about this new year for many years to come and thats down to Warren & Elinor completely👊

We had such a fun time the night before with the gang in the pub we slept late for our breakfast

Poor water pressure so shower was very slow but I reported it and the duty manager thought it was a broken pump

Staff very friendly and clean bedroom. Breakfast buffet was okay but just adequate. We ate dinner one evening and enjoyed the food. Friendly locals in the bar and good location for a nightcap. Despite the comments below the room was good value and we will return (if we can get one of the larger rooms across the courtyard).

Our room in the main building was small and with old furniture and no storage. The old style metal framed windows collect condensation and mould.

Unfortunately we weren't able to have the full breakfast as we had to leave @8. What were able to have was gd.

We were booked in for dinner, the menu was xmas or light bites.. I believe there was a function in the restaurant so we were able to eat in the bar area.

A bit more space in the bedroom to unpack and hang my clothes properly would have been nice. The drawer space was v limited. But decor n room standard ex.

What an amazing little gem to find and glad to have stayed the two nights at such a lovely hotel. Upon arrival I was greeted by a lovely friendly face. Very professional from start to finish. I stayed in the Wryght room and wow was cosy, felt warm and homely. Breakfast was amazing and the service again was impeccable. All members of staff are all so happy and very attentive. Will most certainly stay here again. Very lovely place and welcoming. 5 ***** all the way.

The facilities were good although the floors were bare and maybe a rug to step onto getting out of bed would have been nice? The food was first class and reasonably priced. Would highly recommend and would definitely stay again.

The breakfast in the morning was amazing , the beds were also very comfortable and the decor of the room was great, didn’t feel like a hotel. Was great value for money.

The smell from the bathroom , must’ve been the pipes or something, the smell stayed all night long no matter what we did to get rid of it was quite disgusting. As our room was close to the car park we could hear people in the night and also the bell tower goes off every hour all night long which was quite annoying.

The food was beautiful - faultless. The staff were welcoming, friendly and did action some of our complaints i.e. moving us to a second room, which we were advised was, "immaculate."

Where to begin? The cleanliness was appallingly bad. Both in the first room, which we rejected due to this and poor maintenance, and the subsequent room offered. We asked for our second room to be made up the second day. To the cleaner this seemed to mean; 1) Empty only one bin. 2) Don't wipe down any surfaces, leave the dirt on window sills and sugar on two of the surfaces. I washed our cups prior to requesting room make-up. 3) Don't bother even straightening the bed, just lob three clean towels on the bottom of it. Dust accumulates over time. A couple of days or so and it is light grey. The dust we discovered in plenty on the floor and against the walls was thick and black. Add to that the amount of black mould around the bath, the shower base and especially the thick mould around the windows. This mould is notorious for causing issues for anyone with respiratory conditions, its a disaster waiting to happen. Then there's the lack of attention to cleaning light switches, door edges, walls. It was really disappointing because on arrival the place looked lovely except for the green mould hotel signs. It was only once in the room putting our things away we noticed signs of of things not being managed to an acceptable standard. Maintenance In the first room, leaking rusty radiator across the bathroom floor. - should have been reported by staff. Light in the bathroom didn't work. Second room No lamp shade, None of the door handles on the cupboards worked. I had to tighten them all myself. Cupboard under the TV drawer fell out when I opened it to put in my clothes. Unable to flush the toilet without shutting the lid first. (I know its recommended but not everyone does it) Back of the toilet cistern coming off. The mattress was absolutely awful. Lying down both of us felt the large metal bed springs pushing through. I didn't sleep well. Finally managed taking pain-killers and putting all the pillows in a row and lying on top of them.

Dusty, tired decor and furniture, not the room advertised when booking, broken mirrors and doors. Expensive and stayed in better and cleaner budget hotels. Holes in walls filled with toilet roll. No toilet roll holder. Absolutely over priced and would not recommend a visit.
