Friendly gastro pub / hotel in village setting near all amenities

Comfortable stay in a great location.

Spacious room with lovely view of field backing into property. Lovely pub/restaurant. Great location for people visiting Uni of Loughborough as less than 10 mins away plus fast charging for EV less than 5 mins away

Very pleasant staff and great food but rooms need attention .

Food was very good and staff always seemed to be smiling and were very attentive . Very large selection for breakfast .

The fridge in the cupboard was not switched on when we arrived and seemed to have a foot missing as it was lopsided and wobbly . When we switched on the the fridge it became very warm due to being in a cupboard so needs better ventilation . The shower had signs of mold and the metal baskets for holding shower gels etc were rusty .

Ideal base for short stay.

Breakfast was excellent and with very good & friendly service. Ideal as base for one or two nights. We were at a wedding nearby.

It was as we expected. The rooms are well equipped, though not luxurious. Slightly like purpose-built motel rooms at back of pub.

Noisy bed. Found the shower tray to be slippery and for us “old folks” that was a worry. Our door rattled at night with the wind as the outer door didn’t latch properly.

Good choice for us with everything we needed for a stopover.

Everything excellent for us . Very helpful and pleasant staff, good location for us on our way from Newcastle to London, nice, well equipped rooms, easy convenient parking and good food in the restaurant

Only downside is that we were then when there was a 21st birthday do - which was a little noisy - as you would expect

Sunny stay in Lougbnorough.

Beautiful village, great.location, peaceful, very clean. Lovely reastaurant. Great facilities, you literally park.outside your accomadation. Outdoor bar.area and Garden room ( now evryone needs one.of those) Slightly pricey for 2 nights. You have The Falcon Inn nearby. Bradgate park. Beacon hill. Shepshed and Ashby-de-la-zouch. Visited friends nearby. X

No bath but a large fab.shower. The seating area near the field could benefit with a few flower pots or shrubs. Seems to be set.up for business men and adults. If you want families put a play area at the back.

Disappointing

Breakfast was good and it looks like they have a nice restaurant though we did not use it

The room really looked nothing like the pictures on their website and on Booking.com where they are shown to look warm and cosy. In fact our room and bathroom were painted in a dismal shade of grey and looked cold, grim and uninviting. The bathroom had absolutely nowhere to put anything - not a shelf, a cupboard or even a hook. The worst thing was that I accidentally left a few items of underwear in a drawer in the bedroom. As soon as I got home and unpacked, I realised what had happened and immediately emailed the pub asking if they could possibly post the items to me and, of course, offering to pay for postage etc etc. I received no reply so, a couple of days later, telephoned and spoke to a young woman who said she would look into it and ring me back. Again, I heard nothing so have been forced to write off my belongings.

Exactly accommodation we needed when breaking up a long journey South to north.

Very Spacious room and bathroom with large shower. Comfortable king size bed. Fridge for cooling drinks and Fan provided, appreciated as it was very warm weather. Parking outside own front door. Generous good quality tea/coffee making in room. Excellent breakfast . Friendly staff who recommended good restaurant not far away for a meal because theirs is closed on Sunday evening. Quiet, even though location is very close for M1 and East Midlands airport.

Bedside lights didn’t work, so I mentioned this to staff at breakfast. They were glad I let them know and would get it fixed.

Pleasant spot for a short stay; the restaurant is a bonus.

Room comes with everything you might need for a short stay. Appreciated the addition of the desk fan as it was warm. Breakfast was delicious as were the dinners we had in the restaurant. Ample parking.

Towel replacement could be better. Even when we left damp towels on the floor to be replaced; these were hung up again for reuse. The kitchen closes at 9am for breakfast which we found very early and it meant we missed a couple.

First time staying at the Royal Oak we stayed in room 5. I found everything from beginning to end of the stay amazing. Helpful staff, food amazing (well done chef) and cleanliness outstanding. Looking forwarad to next year to stay again

Lovely location, good food

Good location to Whatton House for a wedding. The pub itself is lovely. The food at dinner was really good . Breakfast on the first day was quick. On the 2nd night quite slow but still nice.

The smell in the bathroom it smelt of sewer. Had no fridge in the room.

Friendly & helpful staff were a definite plus. Bar & dining facilities were modern & clean.

It was a very hot day /night - rooms had a small portable fan which wasn’t up to the job . Hard to get ventilation & privacy . Breakfast offering was poor - limited choice & quality - which was surprising as they had some award on display.

It would have been perfect if not for the smell!

Nice pub , rooms at the back of the pub, all single storey so no noise from above. I stayed in room 8. Good parking spaces right outside your door with plenty of additional. Tucked away from the road out the back of the pub. Small garden in sunny spot out the back.

Strong smell of sewage coming up the shower drain I would say, this is usually caused by no water in the trap causing smell to come back up from the drains. Was not nice but bathroom very clean. Walls are very thin so you hear the tv & plugs being put on in the walls.

Lovely room, clean, comfortable and everything needed, hairdryer, iron, fan, shower gels, teas coffee.Staff were lovely and helpful. Breakfast was great, we ate lunch, which was very good.

Bar closed so early. Last orders 10pm. Food not served all day, so just check times so your not caught out.
