Iconic stay at The Merchant

We spent 2 nights at The Merchant for my mum's special birthday. They made the occasion very special for her. The staff was amazing and genuinely lovely, and so was the entire experience in the hotel. As soon as you walk into The Merchant, you know you're in a very special place and you feel transported back in time. The decor is truly incredible. Each room is unique. The hotel is located at the heart of the city centre and you can walk everywhere.

Our room was on the main street side where the famous pubs are located so we could hear live music until very late.

Not worth the money.

Inside was beautiful and the staff at the cocktail bar were fab!

We were in the old part and could have done with a bit of touching up. The breakfast was a huge let down. Nothing was explained when we started and we ended up asking for the special and the bread was stale. We also went to the hot tub at 5.20 and the receptionist told us it was closed even though it’s said on a letter that was left on our bed that it was open until 6. When talking to other guests the best morning they had actually said it was open u till 6.30. It was very expensive and it honestly wasn’t worth it. It was my mums birthday so it was just a little bit of a let down.

5 stay venue .. stay away from noisy suites

Love the merchant as it always provides first class service, especially in berts. The vibe is great.

Stayed in the Seamus Heaney suite and the noise from the night club ruined a really good stay. Not sure what this suite is the price it as with the club directly below. The noise way too much for a relaxing night.

Gym and pride and pinion was cool

Good gym, gym manager complained to me not putting some dumbbells back but I was running late for a meeting and the gym was empty. He was just sitting at his desk doing nothing. He kicked up a real fuss and doesn’t think oh this guest is paying £350 for 1 night at a hotel, I will let it slide…. Sauna wasn’t very hot, didn’t let me check in until 3:10pm but let others check in at 1:30pm? Steak was average.

Perfect historic hotel stay in Belfast! Delicious food, friendly staff, gorgeous atmosphere!!!

Gorgeous historic bank building converted into an amazing hotel! Upon arrival we were notified we had been upgraded to a suite. Doorman called one of the best black taxi drivers for us to arrange a tour the same day. Beautiful bar with huge cocktail menu and one of the best meals of our whole trip to Ireland at the Cloth Ear Pub! There is a gorgeous jacuzzi on the roof with a view of the clocktower as well as a beautiful sauna with city views and a fabulous aromatherapy steam room. The Seamus Heaney suite was luxurious and spacious with a very comfortable bed. Fabulous, friendly staff at every turn and a delicious breakfast included in the beautiful Great Room. We had not finished the room service champagne we ordered the previous night and the restaurant staff was happy to use the remainder to make us mimosas with breakfast.

Make sure to book spa services in advance. We wanted to book massages upon check-in but the spa was fully booked for days so they were not able to accommodate us.

Beautiful hotel. Everthing was perfect, from the food, the staff, the decor. The jazz bar was an added bonus with lovely food and wonderful live music.

Beautiful historical hotel in a central location. The reception staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The restaurant hall is truly grand.

A pleasant but not quite a 5-star experience. No sparkling in the room, no farewell gifts, no minibar, not even a fridge. To our disappointment, guests under 18 years old were not allowed at the gym, spa, rooftop jacuzzi. Although understandable, cannot recommend this hotel for families

Beautiful hotel, with impeccable class, staff and facilities! A truly incredible experience!

Everything was incredible. Room was large. Staff was incredible. Everyone was so warm, friendly and helpful. The food at the restaurant was fantastic. The Irish Coffee was an experience worth our stay. Such a professional environment - and the facilities were over the top beautiful.

Everything was above and beyond expectation. Nothing I did not like about this hotel. I would stay here again!

Relaxing stay in lovely surroundings.

Check in was quick and easy, all staff were helpful and friendly, surroundings are luxurious and relaxing, breakfast was fab.

A fridge in the room would have been good to chill water and keep fresh milk fresh. Our room was quite noisy because of local bars so it took me a while to get to sleep.

The Merchant is an amazing hotel in the centre of Belfast with great service and delicious food.

The food at The Merchant was excellent and we ate at almost every dining option that they had. The service was swift and they anticipated our needs very well which is a sign of great waiting staff. Reception were very helpful with any queries I had and had fulfilled my request for twin rooms which was great as my two grown up sons were rooming together for one night.

The rooms that we were in are not well soundproofed and there are a number of pubs and clubs opposite the hotel. Normally it wouldn't have made a huge amount of difference and I'd have been less annoyed about the noise factor but it was my son's wedding the day we left the hotel and it was really difficult to go to sleep with the noise of music coming from the pubs/clubs.
