Very quiet location set back from the main road, but also easy to find. Comfortable room and bed. Everything went smoothly, even though the host was away while we were there

We had a really lovely long weekend here. The house is beautifully decorated and the room was very cozy, with everything we could need provided: tea, coffee, a kettle, biscuits, toiletries etc. The bed was very comfy too. Breakfast was nice and convenient too: self service toast/cereal/yoghurt/coffee etc. Abi was a great host, really great for a chat and a cup of tea, and advice on what to do in the area away from the beaten track. The hounds were very sweet too!

Location was an easy walk into town, but we should have taken Abi's advice and gotten a taxi from town to the house with our luggage as the road there was quite steep and long!

Amazing peaceful chilled out time ! Total reset weekend

An amazing house and Abi the host was so welcoming and a nice person But the 2 dogs were just the best ! So laid back ! Abi was a perfect host it was more like staying at a friends house 🩷

Lovely comfortable room and a delightful host

Immaculately clean and beautifully decorated, the room and communal area had real character. Abi is a wonderful host, made us feel very welcoming her home and was lovely to chat to and full of information about the local area which she clearly loves. Lovely little extra touches as well to make us feel welcome. Great communication before arrival. Would 100% recommend to anybody looking to stay in the area?

The hill! But you can’t do anything about that as Stroud is full of Hills. No complaints at all.

Outstanding visit

Everything was absolutely perfect. Abi was the perfect host, so friendly and accommodating and the pooches Berkeley and Gertie were adorable. The room was stunning so well thought out and the decor around the property was outstanding. Every time we came or left the property we saw something different. Breakfast was great which was self service. We felt the stay was like visiting a friend you were made to feel so welcome and at home. We sat in the garden at night with a glass of wine and had Gertie as company which was lovely. Well worth going to see The Malthouse Collection at Painswick, you could lose yourself there for hours and the farmers market in Stroud was brilliant which was on Saturday. Have a walk through the cemetery to take a short cut to the local pub. The views were outstanding but you’ll need a seat outside the church on the way up! We’d definitely stay again. The Hidden House is a little gem!!

Great stay in comfy house in a beautiful area

We had a great stay at Abi’s place. She is an excellent host and was always there to help us with our plans for the day and any questions about the area. Her dogs are adorable and she is the best dogs’ mum. I would definitely recommend her place as it’s quiet and close to many doggie walks 😀

Lovely place to stay

Stunning property. Lovely sized bedroom with an onsuite bathroom and shower. Our dog was very welcome. Brilliant selection of gluten-free breakfast cereals available. Abi was very knowledgeable about the area and helped us to find beautiful walks.

The location was great, nice and quiet. The room was beautiful with a large en-suite. Very comfortable bed. The rest of the house was very tastefully decorated and furnished too.

A haven of a place that was attractive to the eye and unforgettable to the heart.

It was exactly what was promised. Hosted by Abi with such warmth and special touches. Our room was welcoming from the moment we entered. It was an oasis, really, and rather tastefully decorated. You can see the effort. Our host was very, very helpful with where to go and what to do, like walking routes, eateries etc. She took care to give special instructions how to get there and made sure we had a place to park. Unforgettable. If we ever returned to Cotswold, this would be our base. (We had rented a car which was a short bus ride away from Stroud train station. We had taken the train in from Stratford, London.) From The Hidden House, we drove to many scenic spots like Bourton-on-the-water, Stow-on-the-wold and even as far as Oxford!

Wonderful mini break in Stroud

Great location, a 15 min walk down the hill into town. Abi the host is lovely, very welcoming and has great local knowledge which is very helpful and her two Basset’s are so chilled and friendly. We had forgotten our dog’s lead and Abi kindly lent us one of hers, which was above and beyond. Our room was perfect, the bed very comfortable with a choice of pillows and the shower was great.

Really great self service continental style breakfast though the host also offered to get additional items if needed. Room was perfect- bed comfy & en suite well appointed. Lovely touches, like tea & coffee facilities & wine. Host was helpful & friendly & the doggy hosts were a joy! A real bonus if you are like me & would love a dog but aren’t yet in the position to have one! Would definitely recommend!

My wife and I had such an enjoyable experience at the Ridden House. Abi is an excellent hostess and genuinely cares about the guests. We were welcomed warmly and were made to feel right at home. This is the third time we have stayed at The Hidden House and each time our stay has been perfect. Abi and her Basset Hounds, Barkers and Gerti, are wonderful hosts; everything feels like home from home. The bedrooms are exceptionally clean and very comfortable and the house is beautiful. Abi has a huge amount of local knowledge so she can give you lots of ideas for walks, places to visit and local eateries. Breakfast is in a relaxed atmosphere with plenty of choice. I would strongly recommend a visit to The Hidden House.

Everything was fantastic. Abi was a pleasure to deal with as were Berkeley and Gertie who happily greeted us each morning. The bed was like sleeping on a cloud. Best sleep in years. Breakfast was fine and lots of it especially some lovely homemade flapjacks. Home from home. Greta recommendations for local pubs and restaurants. Try out the Crown and Scepter...friendly staff and customers.

The Hidden Gem

Abi's place is an absolute gem! First things first, breakfast time was a real treat. Abi knows how to spoil her guests with a spread of light breakfast treats which is needed when you’re on long walks. But let me tell you, her homemade flapjacks were the real show-stoppers! Now, onto the room – it was something else! The bed was like sleeping on a cloud. I mean, seriously, it was like sleeping on a cloud made of marshmallows. And Abi's the kind of host that goes the extra mile. We brought our pup with us, and she'd set up this whole doggy haven with a mat, blanket, water bowl, and treats – talk about pet-friendly hospitality! The room was spacious, and I even managed to get some work done while enjoying the awesome view of lush greenery outside. It was the perfect spot to unwind and stay productive at the same time. Now, let me rave about the bathroom – it totally deserves its own paragraph, no doubt about it! I swear, it felt like we were in a fancy hotel with that shower and bathtub combo. Not to mention all the fancy amenities that came with it. Talk about pure luxury, my friend! All in all, Abi's place is a winner. From the scrumptious breakfast to the cozy room and the swanky bathroom, the hidden house ticks all the right boxes. If you're ever in the area, do yourself a favour and book a stay at this little slice of heaven. Trust me, you won't regret it!

Great location for what we wanted to do. It was a short weekend break for a friend and I; we wanted to explore somewhere new. Accommodation/room was great - just what we had asked for, and very comfortable. All the hosts - Abi, Berkley, and Gertie were all excellent at making us welcome. Breakfast was spot on, as were the special flapjacks - just scrumptious! The decor was also amazing. We left feeling very relaxed having been made very welcome. Would stay there again if we are in the area.
