The property location is excellent. I simply cannot imagine better place in the town. It is in the pedestrian zone, so there are just restaurants on the street and no traffic. A few minutes walk to the beach, to the bus terminal, to the marina... House itself is well renovated. There are three different levels (1) kitchen with living room and toilet, 2) two bedrooms with their toilets/showers and 3) small bedroom with kitchen, another toilet/shower and small balcony. Great for family with multiple kids. Everything was clean and cosy. One can find some minor glitches that are mentioned in other reviews, but there are IMHO negligible with regard to the location, price and the overall experience.

For older people, it can be a bit difficult with regard to many stairs. Beds are a bit harder and more narrow than we are used to, but this is about your preference.

Great apartment right in the centre of old Funchal. Plenty of living space, nice to have comfortable reclining sofa and chairs, and plenty of eating space as well with a full dining table, kitchen table, top floor table and balcony table too! Great to have a bathroom each plus an extra toilet, plus our daughter loved having her own mini apartment space with balcony on the top floor. SUCH a great location too, hard to be more central, yet very quiet and peaceful at night. The air con is a big bonus as well, although we didn't need it on that much. Loads of places to eat very close by, so we hardly used the kitchen - good to have a big fridge freezer.

The mattress on the bed in the first bedroom is pretty hard - we're used to a firm mattress and this was too firm even for us! Kids reported that their beds were fine though. No other issues at all.
