Breakfast wasn’t the best

The staff were exceptionally nice and helpful ! The hotel is modern and looks recently re-done, the food was absolutely fantastic! Also the new gin cocktail the bar manager makes is awesome 👌. Parking also on site and free is always a good thing👍

There isn't much

A beautiful room, very spacious, lovely furnishings and amazing bathroom. Fresh milk in the mini fridge was perfect. Staff were fantastic. So helpful and friendly. The whole hotel is clean, tidy and very tastefully decorated.

It’s a tiny thing and wouldn’t put us off staying again but it would be good to have more than just two breakfast teabags.

The hotel was perfect, from the staff to the decor and all the luxurious little touches.

Staff were very friendly and attentive. Food was delicious and value for money. Spotlessly clean rooms with great facilities.

‘Background music’ playing downstairs could be heard in our room till late and from early morning.

Location and parking good . Food very good

This was my second visit to the hotel, and once again, it didn’t disappoint. The rooms are modern, comfortable, and absolutely spotless. I especially appreciated the thoughtful touch of a small refrigerator stocked with fresh milk for tea and coffee, such a nice detail. I had a great night’s sleep, with only a bit of traffic noise. The location is ideal for exploring the Cairngorms, and breakfast was lovely, just the right start to the day and fuel for a long day hiking.

My only real complaint would be the lack of parking, which made getting my things to my room a bit of a hassle. That said, it wasn’t enough to deter me from staying again, I’d happily return.

On the whole for our stay Bedroom and Dining room tended to be on the cold side for comfort.

Lovely room

The TV was very difficult to work and the kettle was in an awkward place. Couldn’t get basic channels on TV far too complicated. The very worst thing was being woken at 4am with a drill going and obviously work being done in the building. Thumping noise and selling. The receptionist said there was no work being done in the hotel but there definitely was in that building anyway, we had a really bad nights sleep. It was ridiculous.

The property was lovely outside and inside. The decor was beautiful, room layout was great and bed very comfy. We ate in the bar and food and service were fab.

The quality of the furnishings and service. An excellent hotel with pub style bar attached. Excellent, modern rooms with exceptional showers. Loved it.

We were using this hotel as a stopping point on a car journey from Ullapool to Edinburgh - it was ideal. Indeed we will return for a holiday in the Cairngorms area as we were so impressed with the accommodation and breakfast, and the helpfulness of the staff. The room and bathroom was exceptionally well designed and relaxing. The room and the corridors were fresh and welcoming. And we really appreciated the fresh milk provided for teas and coffees.

The Star Hotel Kingussie is indeed a STAR - I could not fault it.

The ease of arrival, and help in finding our way including with the Parking was a lovely way of being welcomed. The whole stay was very comfortable. The staff were faultless. Everywhere impeccable and lots of details (quality of soap and shampoos etc a nice surprise.) We would mention in particular Tracey who was so incredibly welcoming and accommodating in terms of our planning and change of mind to stay on. Dinner was five star - and we ate in the hotel the whole time it was so good. And that includes the extremely good value for breakfast which kept us going all day.. The managing team was very present and checking in on the customers which is always a big plus ! Great value for money. We will be back …

Nothing to not like.

Very clean and nicely decorated. The restaurant was also pretty good. All staff we interacted with were polite and friendly. Location is good as a base to go to other places.

Not their fault but the weather was very hot so the room felt very warm and the windows can’t be opened much. To their credit, the provided a fan :)

The Hotel totally brand New and super clean. Furniture is in excellent condition and bed is comfortable. I hope they continue on this standard.

The room temperature is hot, even though there's a fan provided in the room, the room stayed hot.

The room was beautiful and immaculately clean. The reception and restaurant are stunning too. Breakfast was great. Highly recommend and would stay here again.

Room was compact but had everything we needed. The tower fan was a nice extra and the milk in the fridge! Ensuite was spacious and not lacking anything. The Jacobite restaurant was very nice and not too pricey either!

Parking can be a bit tight. But wasn't an issue. Very helpful staff if you are struggling to find space.

Breakfast was very nice and the rooms were spacious with nice bathrooms.

Pub was crowded - both good and bad...

Staff were so friendly and helpful. Room was very nice, bed very comfortable and high quality linens. Definitely recommend.

Spotlessly clean with everything in the room of a good standard. Small fridge with bottled water and a little bottle of milk was much appreciated. Bike store and charging available for our E-bikes was great. Very nice staff. We would recommend

The only thing we didn’t like was the closeness of the tables in the dining area. No privacy for conversation.

The decor and newness of the furniture just lovely , can see the quality in the furnishings Bedroom Was just lovely , loved the idea of a wee flask of fresh milk in the mini fridge and bottles of water replaced daily We ate twice in the bar area, meals and price very good, also had breakfast , again good choice The staff very attentive, friendly and all work as a team which was very evident Good base for going hill walking etc

Good breakfast, wide range of choices, but for those who don't eat a big breakfast, perhaps a cheaper option could be available Enjoyed our stay but unusually hot weather made rooms a bit uncomfortably hot. Fans could be made available.

Newly refurbished hotel with large clean nicely decorated bedrooms, excellent restaurant and friendly staff. Particular mentions for George in the restaurant and Callum, who seemed to be everywhere ! The food was tasty and service was excellent and breakfast was good value and delicious- am especially recommending the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. Thanks also to the reception staff who provided an additional fan for our room as we stayed on the hottest night of the year in Scotland! This was a last minute booking as our previous plans went awry, and thank goodness, because The Star was a fantastic and unexpected find. We wish them well and would definitely stay again in the future. To anyone looking to stay in the Kingussie/Aviemore area I would say stay here rather than Aviemore. The village has a good Cooperative store, a pharmacy, PO and hardware shop, an excellent cheese shop a, a chippy and a couple of art galleries.

Nothing really- our room was hot but so was everywhere else in Scotland that day!
