We stayed at this hotel during a business trip, and we absolutely loved everything about it. The property is beautiful and full of character, with a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Our rooms and the entire hotel was exceptionally clean. The staff were amazing: friendly, attentive, and always ready to help with anything we needed. The à la carte breakfast was absolutely amazing, delicious, fresh, and a perfect start to the day. We truly enjoyed our stay and would gladly come back. Highly recommended!

The staff were very friendly and very attentive.

The lack of restaurant was an issue - but they do facilitate getting a takeaway, and providing space to eat away from the bedroom.

Great little hotel, couldn't fault anything

The room was immaculate and very nicely decorated. Bed was astoundingly comfortable. Staff were all friendly, breakfast was superb, lovely choice and cooked just the way I like it. I enjoyed my stay so much I booked another night.

Stands out as a very nice place to spend a night, in a characterful location

The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was very comfortable and spotlessly clean. There is a great little bar in which to chill after a long drive. The breakfast was very good, including a very decent full English breakfast. Free parking on site too. Nothing at all to dislike. We will be going back.

Parking was around the rear and there was lots.Their is a rear entrance and check-in was simple.The room was one of the best I have come across, modern well fitted out and quiet.The cooked breakfast was great and not greasy like some hotels.All in all an excellent choice.

Perhaps directions to the rear car-park, although we found it . It might be an idea to mention where it is.

Weekend stay

Everything was perfect, lovely room, great breakfast, friendly staff who made us feel very welcome. Particularly liked the fact that there was a bar on premises for an evening drink. Choice of pubs a short drive away for evening meals...or Stumbles Bistro two doors down, which was excellent. We did a lovely walk from South to North Molton, through the community woodland and along the River Mole.

I've stayed here many times and look forward to staying again. They've got everything right !!!

I have stayed here a few times before and for very good reason; it's lovely. I had to leave quite early on Sunday morning, before breakfast was officially served, and they very kindly (as they have done before) made me a take-away coffee and bacon sandwich, both were excellent and whilst location is major reason for selecting this area, the fantastic service and general loveliness of this hotel is the reason I go back, time and again. It's also the little things, such as; I wear contact lenses and the lights in their bathrooms are bright and make it easier for me to pop my lenses in.

Best breakfast big fat comfy bed Central location Bring your dogs!

This hotel has a great high street location which gives you easy access to any main routes with free large car park to rear. The bed is large and very comfortable, and nice large shower. The breakfast really deserves a mention as its superb with plenty of choice. They dont offer food in the evening but this worked well for us as it was more flexible for us to eat out or bring something into to the dinning room and eat. We had our two cockapoos with us and they were very welcome by everyone.

The hotel room we had at the front onto the road could be a little noisy from traffick if you had the windows open. Theres also a small patio area across the road for the residence and public to enjoy a drink which can also get some noise but for us not bothered.

Clean with character. We have stayed in the George Hotel several times over the years and the staff are always extremely helpful and friendly it’s reasonably priced and I have to say the breakfast is the best breakfast I’ve had in any hotel both in the uk & abroad.

Room was perfect for our one night stay, breakfast was excellent, the bar was nice and the overall value for money was also excellent. Eating a fish and chip takeaway was just what we wanted after a long day sightseeing.

Incredible quality

I knew from when I arrived that this was going to be a good stay! Mark greeted me as he came from serving in the bar, just answering the phone, with a big smile and a promise to attend to me very soon. His colleague checked me in and gave me a map to access the carpark and noted my car reg. for the free parking. My room was bright, airy and impeccably clean! Lots of space and clever ideas (such as the clothes hanging). The shower was enormous, fittings were luxury and impressively maintained. They've thought about lighting for applying make up, mirrors and the bed was super comfy. The Velux blinds made the room completely dark if needed but I would also keep my window open all night and was undisturbed. The breakfast was superb and top quality. Day one was smoked salmon and soft buttery, scrambled eggs; day 2 a full English. The ingredients were some of the best I've ever tasted and the presentation and service was incredible. This was a 5 star capital city experience (without the pompousness!) in a rural market town - completely unexpected and delighting! Overall it was a fabulous place and I'd definitely recommend.

A bit of me would have preferred to have been able to book a table and eat an evening meal prepared here (especially after such incredible breakfasts), but instead they actively encourage you to use local restaurants or bring a takeaway back to the dining room where they have tables set for you to enjoy it. This actually was a great idea and accompanied with a couple of drinks from the bar worked very well (although I would avoid the Chinese takeaway in New Road, which was potentially having a bad night, but no one in the dining room seemed to be impressed by theirs!)

The room was a generous size with attractive furnishings. It was spotlessly clean, with everything I needed. The bed was comfortable. Breakfast was tasty with a wide choice on the menu. The staff were friendly and efficient.

An excellent value for money stay, a very pleasant older hotel with very nice staff.

Room very clean and looked as though recently refurbished so was well presented. Breakfast was very good with a variety of cooked options (freshly cooked to order), cereal etc. Good lounge and bar area serving such things as cream teas (very good ones) which is very popular with the locals particularly in the mornings. Very ample private parking area at the rear of the hotel. Would stay there again when visiting North Devon. I would recommend The George as an excellent value base for exploring North Devon.

I always believe it is important to have a small refrigerator in rooms to cool liquid refreshments-unfortunately that was lacking here but that was our only disappointment (I would urge the management to rectify this). No option for food in the evening which we were already aware of-although not a problem for us as we tend to eat out when on a short break. For info only: the town of South Molton has few attractions and not really worth a visit for tourists (The George being the best venue) but is a great location as a base for exploring North Devon.

A great stay and I'd recommend.

Great breakfast. Good location for visiting local family and the surrounding places of interest. Lovely old hotel decorated to modern standard. Double room and single room we booked both spacious with good sized bathrooms. Very clean. Tower fans provided and room easily ventilated with great sash windows. Breakfast areas light and spacious too.
