Cambridge House Hotel

Handy location. Clean and tidy. Easy to access (once I got the codes).

Not as pretty looking as in the photos (eg: no throw and cushion on bed). Getting the access codes took a bit of effort. Room was very warm and I asked for a fan - no response. A better bedside cabinet would be good, as would a mirror above the sink. Shower head sprayed water everywhere in the bathroom, and shower gel ran out after three days). More coat hangers would be good. Lack of fire exit signs in corridors (possibly contravening fire safety regs). Change of floor level in corridors could pose a safety hazard, as does being able to access the rooms undergoing refurbishment. Kitchen area doesn’t offer many amenities. TV internet connection kept dropping out.

Great location close to Station. Clean room. Comfortable bed.

No kettle or tea making in the room.

The team who was there to greet us with open arms welcome meant alot,,As for the location I can honestly say everything was not even a 10 minute walk from train station to Cambridge House Hotel, its even better for the simple fact you can walk everywhere you need to go. Pub 7 min walk there, then 2 hours walking back, lol. Will use this hotel again and highly recommend to others. All they ask for is for you to respect their property.

Leaving our short stay.

Excellent location 5 min from train station. It's a quiet residential area, and the view from the loft over the rooftops is actually nice. Staff were friendly and responded to questions promptly over Whatsapp. Self check-in and check-out system was convenient. not having to bother with a reception or queue. The chilled water machine in the shared kitchen was a lifesaver in this heatwave. I did not try the vending machine (also in the kitchen), but in addition to snacks and drinks it seemed to have useful stuff like hygiene supplies and cables (I'm always guilty of forgetting my EU to UK plug).

As others have commented, cleanliness was the biggest drawback. The stains on the walls and the dust in the bathroom ventilator don't inspire confidence. Reading the comments I came prepared with my own bedstuffs and towel, so can't comment on theirs. The size of the compact loft is not too shocking if you've seen student accommodation in the UK, but I wish there had been more surfaces to put stuff on, like some shelves to make better use of the space, for example there is no space on the bathroom sink to put your toothbrush. The QR code on the front door is washed out by weather so you have to try the doorbell directly to contact staff, and after making into the house it took me some time to discover the WiFi code in the kitchen so I could text them on Whatsapp for my room code and finish checking in.
