The Norna

The Norna was great. I would book there again. - 350m / 5 minute walk to the train station - clean & tidy - easy access to enter the property & our room via door PIN codes - common room - fridge (but no freezer), microwave, lockable luggage storage cupboard which fitted out 2 suitcases, couch - in our room - kettle with coffee/ tea supplies in the room, TV, small desk & chair, pedestal fan, 2 bedside tables, bedside touch lights - a comfortable stay - shops nearby - Sainsbury’s, Tesco’s, Gregg’s, etc

We stayed when the UK had 2 days of 35 degree heatwaves. We were on the ground floor in Room 2. It would have been great / improvements / suggestions :- - if the window could be locked a few inches open with a flyscreen so we could securely get fresh air into the room - if the common room had more cooking facilities eg toaster, plates, real cutlery, glasses, cups, induction hot plate, saucepans & frypan, cooking utensils. But the space is where they store things for the cleaners & they don’t want it used as a common room kitchen since Room 9 is right next to it - if there was a freezer section in the fridge to make ice cubes & to store some frozen items - towel rail or hooks in the bathroom or on the door. But there were 2 hooks behind the main door & some coat hangers next to the bed - some free to air TV channels didn’t work. But we found we could view some YouTube stuff or something … - a washing machine in the kitchen for guest use (you could remove the dishwasher) :-)

It was good and a short walking distance from the train station and town centre.

Close to the railway. Not too far to walk into the city. Easy access to enter property and room with key code.

Although it was easy to access with key code, we found other guests entering and leaving where not making sure the two access doors where closing property, perhaps a large sign to remind guests. The curtains in the room where coming away from the curtain rail. No room service during our three day stay. Queried this, as couldn't find any information that this wasn't included. We did then have the tea/coffee tray refilled the next day.

Mould on bathroom tiles Not enough working power points Kettle had to be boiled on floor as cord not long enough to reach power points Unfortunately it was a hot box due to hot weather , fan ineffective for cooling Mattress underlay stained , no pillow protectors
