Magnificent chateau, clean and comfortable room

This is a magnificent chateau, beautifully furnished - like stepping into a bygone era. There are areas which are in desperate need of renovation (the breakfast room is very cold and draughty if you're there in Autumn/Winter) but the rooms and common areas are spectacular. I attach some photos, taken at night. Our room was huge, warm, clean and comfortable with a massive bathroom. As people have mentioned before, the one room (which we stayed in) doesn't have a key but it really wasn't an issue. Victoria, a delightful French lady, gave us a very warm welcome, cooked us breakfast each morning (simple but adequate) and was always really friendly and helpful.

You only need to be aware that, apart from breakfast, there is no catering here. However, the chateau has an agreement with the delightful Olivier from the Relais Saint Louis hotel and restaurant about 700m up the road which has a bar and an excellent restaurant.

We arrived late after a long drive and Duan who had built a fire for us in the drawing room met us on the steps of house. The whole place is Charming and a wonderful eclectic mix of beautiful French antiques and Chinoiserie. The room we had was gorgeous with a super sized bathroom. Breakfast the next morning was really good and very generous, served by the housekeeper who looked after us very well. We are planning a return trip so we can stay again.

This is an extraordinary place to stay……it is a rambling old chateau in a delightful and quiet provincial town The owners are utterly charming and welcomed us into what is in fact their home The chateau with its ancient and eclectic decor is fascinating, rustic and very French If you like mini-bars and tech, then go elsewhere……or, step into the old world of slow-paced eccentric elegance and antiquity that is Chateau de la Grand Maison I can't wait to go back

The chateau was absolutely amazing! A great experience to stay at such a place that travels you through time. Victoria welcomed us on our arrival and was great in doing the outmost for our comfort.

Friendly, comfortable, classy rooms. Private and secluded, but near to the town (walkable).

The owner and her son are very friendly and helpful. We were greated with a pot of tea, and the continental breakfast was fresh and good, including fresh fruit. The chateau is old but well renovated. Do not judge this place based on the outside paint-work. The room and bed were comfortable and full ot character. Great Wifi, so having no TV is not a problem. Private, secluded parking felt very safe. Restaurant was closed due to holiday, so we cannot comment.

The entrance to the courtyard is difficult to find, and we went in twice before realising we were in the right place. We stayed only one night, so it was not a great issue that the room had no storage for clothes.

We had a wonderful time and would recommend this place to anyone visiting the region.

The Landlady was so kind and helpful, she really made us feel at home. We really appreciated that she kept the breakfast opened for us late as we were really tired and slept in quite late everyday. Her helpers were also very nice and always made sure we had everything we needed.

Perfect weekend getaway in a historical charming chateau

The hotel was majestic and charmingly decorated with period pieces, the garden is idyllic. It's the perfect spot for a weekend escapade in a Wes Anderson worthy historical village. The host was so kind and helpful.

- sheets and linen not ironed, one synthetic pillow each - tiny towels - very tired decoration - no lock on our door - no en-suite - had to walk across corridor - no kettle in room - not satisfactory toiletries- half a bottle of something left in shower - breakfast room not cleaned each day- crumbs everywhere and ants in jam -messy, uninviting communal areas eg cushions not plumped up - VERY basic breakfast for the price we paid - no fruit salad or cereals on offer. Jam in pot from day before, coffee was from a machine/not fresh, no kettle so had to keep asking for mugs of hot water -unkept garden

Unique, unconventional and elegant. Sizeable property oasis right the in town, Run by a gorgeous couple of hosts who couldn’t do more for us. We absolutely loved it.

We have a super king size at home, so unsurprisingly our night in the chateau’s queen size, in our room turned into a bit of a power struggle for space!

A fabulous chateau with a welcoming host a short walk from the town center

A fabulous property in a fabulous setting, and a very short walk from the town centre. We had a spacious suite with two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a four poster bed. Often these chateaux properties can feel dated, but not this one. It was clean, airy and fresh. The garden was well kept with lots of seating options for relaxing. The host was also super friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble for her. She made us feel very welcome.

The building is a genuine historic monument with many original features. The rooms are enormous. The host is very helpful. Breakfast was fresh from the baker. Walking distance to bars and restaurants in Belleme. Secure parking.

Peacefull and charming

We had a very lovely weekend at Grand Maison! Our guest was really nice and welcoming. It was a pleasure to discuss with her during breakfast. The house is tastefully decorated and the garden was very beautiful as well. So many colors and beautiful furnitures. GrandMaison is situated in a beautiful medieval village with many artshops and close by the forest where you can have pleasant hikes. I would warmly recomend it

French, Chinese and English style in Le Perche, amazing !

We have been very well welcomed by Duan Zheng and her son. She cooked a very good chinese diner for us and some friends. It was very nice to have the English and Chinese cultures melted in this beautiful French house from 17th centruy for the weekend. The castle has been decorated with a lot of taste in between these 2 influences, you will feel at home and Duan Zheng is very caring to be sure you spend the best of time in her place. We had a lovely time and will certainly come back to enjoy the huge fire place during winter in the Perche !
