19th century old world french experience

I loved this place and think the reviews on here are quite harsh . Lets be clear this is a 19th century thatched french country house it is tradition and oldie worldie it has an antique feel like going back in time the floorboards creek and add character to the place it has a huge central open fireplace when you walk in . And there are some amazing oil paintings hanging on the walks just like monet and van goth you would be forgive to think they were originals they were so good all painted by Jose The host Jose couldn’t have done anymore for me i arrived early on a motorcycle he aloud me to check in early at 1030am with no extra charge as the weather was biblical rain it was no day to be outside, he helped carry all my bags to my room and let me park my motorcycle safely round the back of the house out of the way. He even bought me some coffee to my room. Jose was the most kindest host you could possibly desire and his English was far superior to my French . He even laid on a huge breakfast spread in the morning at no extra cost the biggest loaf of bread i have ever seen. I only wish i had more time to enjoy it. It was a great experience staying here and i will always remember jose s hospitality and his wonderful artwork . Thank you Jose i am very grateful . 🙏

Jose s oil paintings were as good as monet if not better the man should be a wealthy man by now living the life of luxury somewhere hot and sunny without a care in the world

A beautiful thatched house which was very spacious. The bed was also very comfortable. Jose was charming and welcoming.

The headroom might not suit tall people but the house is quirky so was all fine.

Seaside Getaway

Perfect place to walk to the beach and still see a bit of the countryside. Lovely man that runs the place and a very beautiful home with all the details of a historic seaside cottage.

With an older home, none of the experienced characteristics were unexpected, such as the sloped ceilings or woody smell. I believe they add to the overall experience of a historic home.

Great breakfast and quiet countryside location . They were okay with me arriving late after a ferry.

The linen and towels were very old and scratchy. when I asked for a more comfortable sheet I was asked to leave which shocked me and spoiled the night, when I refused to leave (prepaid reservation and late at night) I was given a better sheet. The shower you have to kneel down in because it is under a sloping roof or have bath instead. Very squeaky floor.

Good stop off for Dieppe ferry in quiet area

Very quiet and quaint place, set in nice garden. Jose' very kind and welcoming. Private parking on site. Jose' even gave us an early breakfast since we were leaving to get ferry

Exceptional

The host vas extremely helpful, and friendly with excellent english which was fabulous because our French is very poor. The cottage was unique, full of quirkly collections, set in a beautiful garden in a lovely area.

I would always go back there . Nice place good value .

I really liked this place ! Unusual house , lovely paintings, an Aladdins cave of history ..if one wants mod cons go to a characterless modern hotel . Monsieur H was charming ,a talented painter , his paintings were some referred to . I wish my spoken French were better . I’d have liked to have spoken with him about the house and art .

I do think one or two things would be helpful for the chambre I had .. A headboard perhaps ? Better for reading .. a small side table by the bed would be useful for a water glass , alarm clock etc …. One other …. Some bigger bath towels maybe ? I used my own . Otherwise I liked this place .

Quick nap and snack with friends.

We liked the authenticity of that house. Much old details, paintings etc. Host was friendly and welcoming so don’t be discouraged by the appearance :) Rooms are big, beds comfortable and baths for both bedrooms. Breakfast was good and we were surprised because there was home made jam, wide selection of cheese and serrano ham served. Perfect!

You must take into consideration that the house is old and not everyone will like these “traces of usage”. It’s not a place for those who are critical for cleanliness.

I had sent a note asking about stairs and room location as my husband is a blue badge holder. Unfortunately Booking.com didn’t forward my request and the owner didn’t get any request. He was very apologetic and tried very hard to help. It was hard for my husband to get to the bathroom as it had a huge step. It would be helpful to have a kettle, cups and free coffee/tea in the room for a cuppa when you wake up as breakfast is quite late at 09:00 am.

If you want an out of this world experience, where the welcome is just the first part of a fabulous stay, then come to this wonderful, old worldly, high class private hotel. From the moment I arrived madame was warm and welcoming. I had telephone problems which were more than adequately resolved by Jo, her more than helpful son. The room was exceptionally well equipped, even a spa bath - remember to fill it before turning on the jets or you will splash water everywhere - as I did! My Continental Breakfast was vast. Forget the plastic hotels, come

The homely breakfast was extensive and includes homemade cakes, preserves, butter etc. The cottage is pretty with a quirky interior. The turbocharged plumbing was fun.

The B&B is located along a motorway, and very poorly accessible for pedestrians. Ther are no facilities, like restaurants or supermarkets nearby. So only interesting if you drive a car!

C’était un séjour vraiment parfait, merci beaucoup pour ce joli moment. José est très à l’écoute, toujours disponible et d’une grande gentillesse. Le lieu est agréable et bien entretenu, ce qui rend l’expérience encore plus agréable. Je recommande vivement !

Le manque de propreté. Les poussières, les toiles d'araignée.. Le ménage n'a plus été fait depuis longtemps ou alors de manière très superficielle. Dommage car le lieu est plein de potentiel.

Nous y avons séjourné 2 nuits, mais nous n'y retrournerons pas

Très bon petit-déjeuner.

Maison entourée d'arbres et de verdure,, sympathique sous le grand soleil, mais qui est très sombre et triste dès qu'il pleut. Matelas trop mou. Accès à la salle de bains par une marche haute peu pratique à enjamber. Baignoire dotée de jacuzzi, mais sous rampants (douche non praticable !) L'heure normale du petit-déjeuner est 9H00. Il faut donc négocier si on veut le prendre plus tôt (8H00 pour nous)
